  1. Master P is coming to WCW because he loves his rasslin. They're probably paying him millions as well.
  2. Whoever did the editing on the dog attack needed to be fired. Same for whoever wrote it. That shot of Dillenger and security... It's the Yearbook debut of Tank Abbott. Someone get the World Title on that guy, he's money.
  3. You can buy baby dolls that piss themselves so why not wrestlers that sweat?
  4. The legendary Johnny Ace wins the tag straps again, this time as team leader. I remember Barton having a random excellent match against TenKoji in 2001. He was a mediocre gaijin otherwise.
  5. Slightly hypocritical perhaps? I guess she thought that her Playboy cover issue sold so well because she was such a massive star. Not because of all the advertising it got on WWF TV. Sable was just a phony, egotistical model with little discernible talent who got very lucky.
  6. Junji Hirata aka Super Strong Machine
  7. With the break this must have been one of the longest WCW matches of the year. It was one of the best as well. You had two faces and two heels who started off on the same page. Naturally it soon became every man for himself. The format worked well. They had sufficient time to vary the pacing and sell the accumulated damage. Plus they avoided the surplus of contrived multi-man spots that plague this genre. Admittedly that was probably because the format was immature rather than a conscious game plan. Plenty of high flying and state of the art offence. Everyone hit their moves well and there were plenty of broken up near falls. Blitzkreig was physically very talented and would be a loss to the sport. The other three all brought their A games as well. The crowd reaction was bizarre. Lots of the wrestling fans were super into it, cheering loudly and marking out for the near falls. Then you had the fad followers, who were chanting 'boring' because it had gone way beyond their crash TV attention span. They only stuck around for a short period, and were the reason wrestling TV ratings peaked around this time. They were also the only viewers that Vince Russo understood.
  8. The Horsemen were the heels for those keeping score. Did I just really like a Raven match? A rare occurance for sure. Equally rare and very interesting was the structure. They didn't just have a double FIP but had a full on false stretch after the first one. The lengths of all the different stages of the match were spot on. Long enough without dragging. Benoit did a diving headbutt onto a chair that allowed his partner to get the pin. I was expecting him to put his arm out to take the impact but no. Heading straight to concussion city. It's the kind of thing a stupid man might think logical to do, so made sense from that perspective.
  9. Yagi went straight for the injured arm in a nice bit of continuity. Yoshida was mainly on the receiving end, though she did some damage to the leg in retaliation. This had it's moments and there was some good work in there. It lacked the sharpness and focus of the previous bout, simply due to tiredness. After enduring a huge amount of punishment Mariko finally taps and Yagi claims one of the biggest scalps of her career.
  10. Yoshida continues her fine form. She had an adversary in Fukawa who was also highly proficient at the style. You have to admire the technical prowess and fluidity on the mat. It's amazing what they fitted into the timeframe without feeling rushed. Lots of close calls and excitement. The fans were really into the submissions. Yoshida's arm was badly damaged but she pulled out the win in this hard fought affair. Shame it didn't go longer, though the decision was understandable in a one night tournament.
  11. What a load of shit. 'That Austin fellow sure is popular. I know, let's...'
  12. That can't have been Vince under the outfit. Just look at the way he walks. There are inconsistencies in this storyline.
  13. It's a good thing that it was all a ruse from Debra. For a while I was thinking that the aspiration of the WWF Women's Champion was to become a prostitute! Stuff like this actually happened. It's like a sketch show that's aiming to cause as much offence as possible.
  14. The least convincing mother in wrestling since the King appeared on Raw with someone young enough to be his daughter.
  15. Heenan's line about the breaks being more fun than the matches, being followed by stony silence was awesome. I wish you'd stopped it there. Savage launches a homophobic attack on someone who wasn't perceived as being gay at all. It's stupid and really, really pathetic. A travesty of a match then takes place. Did a drunken 14 year old write this segment?
  16. I absolutely loved the soul vs sole joke. That just perfectly summed up the two conflicting characters.
  17. Mad USA probably spent all afternoon thinking up what she was going to say. It reminds me of her "We are defeatable" promo in Japan.
  18. Owen's death was one of the low points in the history of pro wrestling. It's a terrible thing to happen to anyone. Even more so to one of the good guys in an industry filled with scumbags. The crowd and his fellow workers stand for the 10 bell salute. Penny for your thoughts Vince? A touching tribute from Mick Foley. It was really sweet that Mark Henry read a poem to express his sadness.
  19. I'm glad you chose not to include footage from the Over the Edge PPV. It was disgusting that they didn't stop the show.
  20. This was pure Wrestlecrap. "Nobody likes a sloppy Beaver" Harry raising his eyebrows at the end was particularly brutal.
  21. I'd definitely recommend checking out the full version. There was a big match feel and it remained very heated throughout. Surprisingly they began with technical wrestling. I liked the element of one-upsmanship. Then it quite rightly got down and dirty. Not everything they tried worked, but there were plenty of positive moments. Weapons came into play and it culminated in a fireball to the face no less. Worthy of the occasion. Afterwards the Chigusa loyalists were in stunned disbelief as SSU celebrate. Factional warfare was going down across the wrestling world.
  22. From the GAEA 4th Anniversary show in Yokohama. It was held on the 4th day of the 4th month. There were 4 matches. Start time 4pm! Very strong storyline in this one with the young upstarts taking on the veterans. For the majority of the contest the vets were in firm control. They outsmarted and outwrestled their adversaries at every turn. The GAEA girls showed great fighting spirit to take the beating and then fight back. The crowd were firmly behind their cause. Oz and Kato more than held up their ends with the main focus shifting to Kong vs Satomura. As they built towards the climax it looked like it was going to be one of those close, but no cigar occasions. But on this day Meiko was able to defeat Aja and punch a hole through the glass ceiling. Killer finish. There was one instance of poor selling that Tim mentioned. Otherwise it was spot on and a GAEA classic. The rivalry was far from over as they fought afterwards. Angry Aja!
  23. Raw is Feminism. And I just wrote a post criticising the Divas division in 2015. Wow. I'd say Hervina was the all time low point of the Women's Title but this is a contender.
