    Funaki had a great image and natural ring presence. There was a nice younster vs veteran dynamic and the way they started out promised much. It didn't quite deliver on that potential and drifted at times, but still good overall.

    A solid, hardworking match to give the Korakuen fans their money's worth. They didn't try to do anything as elaborate as some of the other 6 mans, which I for one approve of. Unsurprisingly at 25m it dragged at times. Kawada and Taue increased their rivalry and the top two kept their eye in. There was also a plain nasty segment where Kobashi's face was viciously worked over and his nose busted.

    Four members of the young generation that was sweeping towards the top of NJ at the time. Decent action but I felt it could've done with more of a rivalry, if just for the night. There was an exciting stretch. I didn't like the final moments though with Hase blowing off damage from a moonsault. Afterwards they all celebrate in the ring together, Mutoh and Chono not overly concerned about just using the tag titles.

    Got off to a good start and remained bright n' breezy. Benoit was improved from August and Liger was on his game. I was expecting a back and forth stretch but they went for a short and logical quick finish. It surprised me and worked well. Good contest.

    Like JDW said this is excellent booking. There had just been two title changes plus Hashimoto had won their previous meeting, so the result was very much in the balance. Disappointing match though which didn't get going until too late.

    I was shocked by how good this was. I never expected to see the Nasty Boyz in a match this impressive. Super hot start with wild action. I thought that they'd blown their load and could never keep it up. Surprisingly it was well structured with a lengthy FIP segment that was very good. The attacks were focused on Scotty's lower back, and the partners interfered so often it never got bogged down. Then a nice stretch with an awesome Frankensteiner to finish. My US MOTY.

    Went about 8m before the lame double pin. It had some blood and typical street fight brawling. This was rare at the time but watching it now I don't think it stands up very well. I've seen this done so many times since and a lot better. Even in 1990 the April FMW match kills this.

    I watched the full version. Definately one to put on an errata set. Hard hitting, high workrate heavyweight action with four bruisers battling it out. Some high impact collisions going down. About 10m in the MVC started targetting Tenryu's knee and did quick damage to get a shock submission victory. Didn't have a stretch. Stan was angry with his partner for losing the belts so starts beating him up! Then Jumbo enters for 3 way main eventer fighting in a wild postmatch.

    I'd say Tamura's status was more akin to Kobashi in AJ at this time. Akiyama was a rookie in 1993. This contest was heavily mat based with a focus on leg and ankle submissions. The two men gave a real clinic as they combined superbly. Tamura's selling was excellent and he also had a lot of ring presence. The story of the match was all about him as Sano selflessly put the youngster over. A breakthrough result for the rapidly rising star.

    I may be wrong but Heavy Metal strikes me as an average worker. Santo is a great worker and he carried his opponant to a good match. They did the traditional lucha title match format. The matwork was solid and Metal could do the spots, but he had no flair or particular aptitude. More aerial moves later on as business picked up. They had a heel ref who was used well to screw Santo as nobody would buy him losing this straight up. The finish was quite funny and I want to see Santo vs Guerrera now.

    An interesting one here as these are two of the wierdest dudes in puroresu. Would you buy a car from either of these men? Fujiwara is always really sleazy and Hase looked crazier than ever here. It was a bit unsettling but strangely compelling. Hardly any structure to the match and they probably didn't plan anything out beforehand. They just did some fun grappling and mat exchanges which was entertaining enough.

    Hard to know how to rate this it was so different. Barbed wire, explosions and plenty of hardway bleeding. It had drama and excitement. Funks awesome overselling was markout. I think he needs to give Onita a few tips in this area. Once the explosions had happened they started a 5m bomb countdown. Bewilderingly they ended the match halfway through this, which was as flat as a pancake and a big letdown. Definately should've gone higher. Quite the spectacle, but the lack of ring ropes is a big constraint.

    Really good atmosphere with the fans cheering for both men throughout. Plus there was extra intensity with fighting for company pride. Standard Jnr structure from the era with a particulaly exciting stretch. I had no idea when it would end as they tried every move and pinfall combo they knew to try and grab the win. Fun match. Bit of a mystery why this show wasn't taped with multiple interpromotional contests on it.

    The Hulkster does an effort at some technique as he's working in Japan baby~. The fans seemed to want him to pose instead. Muta was being a bit of a tosser but not as bad as sometimes under the paint. It was reasonable enough fare.

    Nagai gave a good youngster performance, fighting with spirit. It started off red hot although they couldn't maintain that level. The main theme was Hans mat genius. Forget Deano Machino, Han was the man of a thousand holds.

    When Konnan lost this there was a split second of euphoria as I thought he's never be seen in a wrestling ring ever again. Then I remembered what the word 'retirement' means in the wrestling business.

    A wild brawl from the outset as Cactus goes toe to toe with the big man. This feud was doing a great job of elevating Jacks status, or at least it should have done if WCW wasn't run by retards. This contest was going along even better than the previous week before they cut it short for an angle at the end. Vader delivered a powerbomb onto the concrete. He was clearly taking more care than normal, but it's such a dangerous bump to take. It's all Foleys fault he got injured. Afterwards he did a stretcher job (not too hard to act) and then got 'Lost in Cleveland'.

    Foley did plenty of stupid things in his career, and encouraging Vader beforehand to attack his face ranks right up there. It was savage as Jack got pummeled into a bloody mess early. Despite this he really took it to the champion and hurt Vaders ribs on the barricade to get the upset win. I remembered this finish vividly from the time. Only went 10m so was sharp and to the point.

    From a fancam but make no mistake they were going full out over it's generous 25m duration. It was surprising Kobashi having the majority of the offense. He worked on the arm early before moving onto body attacks. It wasn't until 15m that Stan began fighting back. High quality stuff from both men and they possesed a great deal of chemistry together. The finish was outstanding with the lariato countering an attempted diving shoulderblock. I just loved how Hansen didn't move backwards at all because his forwards momentum was so strong. There was only going to be one winner in this collision. Kenta was at such an exciting stage of his career as the youngster levelling up, but not quite yet defeating the main event crew. A part of me doesn't like when matches this strong show up on fancams. It makes me think about all the potentially outstanding matches over the years that didn't make TV. You're not usually missing anything as it's very rare they're going full out like this on a house show.

    The 2nd half was shown, I don't know if the complete version showed up anywhere. Good stuff all the way as they were experienced opponants that matched up really well. Taue had entered his prime by this stage if not quite his peak. Well worked and paced although it did always feel like a draw.

    A satisfying conclusion to the feud in a good ol' hometown hero goes over finish. It took a few minutes to get motoring before getting hot down the stretch and ending the right way.

    Ishikawa was passable and didn't drag it down as much as I'd feared. It was fun between the others as GenTen had strong rivalries against each opponant. Both NJ men bled in this fractuous continuatiuon of the WAR. I want to see singles rather than more tags from now on.

    Misawa's head takes even more of a pounding than usual as Tosh had the majority of the offense. The basic story was that Misawa survived everything thrown at him and then KO's Kawada with the Elbow of Death. Nowhere near their October TC match but consistantly good stuff. Too much of the match was closing stretch.

    Yeah it was watchable but they could definately do better than this. The kind of match you've forgotten already by the next day.

    The first two falls were good quality with some nice matwork and moves. Where it shot up several levels was in the rest period between falls where Casas walked up to his recovering opponant and kicked him in the nuts! This got awesome heel heat, and man did Negro know how to milk the crowd. He had this evil smirk on his face. The hot stretch was set up perfectly and they delivered with mark out 2.9ers. Another great showing from Casas and Ultimo now looked as fluent as a native at the style.
