  1. Quite the talent line up here with 6 good to great workers. And they did just work as well with no screwiness, which is what I like to see. The Santo vs Casas exchanges were poetry in motion. The pre mask Ultimo took a few minutes to get up to speed before improving later on. Hamada looked good as well in this high quality encounter.
  2. I'd never seen this before picking up the yearbook, and about 15 times since. Awesome late 80's music and really catchy song. The video was fantastic as well. It was worth getting the comp before the wrestling had even begun. I still can't figure out what the 2nd line of the chorus is, or parts of the 2nd verse. Anyone got the lyrics?
  3. A Halloween themed music video set to Michael Jackson's Thriller featuring El Satanico, Ponzona, and 3 versions of green monster Espectro. Needless to say it was totally insane. My personal highlights were the invisible tits grab early on and then later Satanico molesting a tied up Ponzona (whoever he was).
  4. Please no reminders about Rocky V. Seriously when I got the Rocky box set I took out that one disc and threw it in the trash so I'd never feel tempted to rewatch it! I must confess that I'm somewhat unfamiliar with the turn of the 90's Russian Rock scene. But so were 99.9% of the people who have ever watched this. Gorky Park are legends I'm sure.
  5. Did Mario's brother ever become a wrestler? I remember that I used to want there to be a wrestling fed based on the characters from Mortal Kombat rather than Super Mario Bros. Great to see Dawna's first ever TV appearance after graduating high school. She was presumably related to someone in ICW?

    1990 Drinking Game

Take a shot for every racist comment from the WCW announcers. Down the bottle whenever Tony Atlas gets a new gimmick.
  7. If you want to see a guy have his ankle broken then by all means watch the finish. Personally I've never had any interest in watching MMA.
  8. The Ex-Man jumps Rude in a hot WCW debut. There was some early excitement, which not even Rude's array of rest holds in the middle could kill off before the upset finish. Good way to start his WCW run for the Boss, though he didn't go on to accomplish much in the promotion.
  9. I loved Sabu being chained like a madman and then let loose when the match started. That was a fun way to put over the gimmick. He was all about doing crazy shit so this fitted right in. I fast forwarded through the rest of the match though because he's such a fundementally bad worker.
  10. I was wondering if I was the only one who was so crazy about this match. The whole thng is Bobby Heenan gold, with the final fall and postmatch being ridiculously awesome. I remember wearing out the old VHS tape.
  11. This was so horrible. They obviously got the idea from the Lucha minis. We should all be thankful that it stopped here (until Hornswaggle anyway).
  12. It's easy to forget how bad the money was in the WWF at this time. Nearly everyone had to have a second job to make ends meet.
  13. Were these guys competition winners from the Amateur Challenge?
  14. There are some surreal moments on this set, but Freddy Krueger and Leatherface removing their masks and shooting (?) on promoters is right up there. If I have no idea what's going on I'm just trying to wonder what the fans in attendance must have made of all this.
  15. This was the funniest one of the lessons. I couldn't help but think what Tammy looked like 10 years down the line though!
  16. I never saw the water spill coming at the end.
  17. If he'd have just fallen over it wouldn't have been that memorable. What made it was when the Shockmasters blue jellyfish helmet came off and he had to put it back on.
  18. I loved the subtlely inserted morality tale about the down and out alcoholic getting off the booze, cleaning up his act and becoming an upstanding member of society in the previous week.
  19. Even though I'd seen it before I was still half expecting to see the Hoff or Pamela Anderson appear on the beach. I think this was the last time they used Cheatum. I wonder what became of him? Actually I don't want to know. The crazy thing is how much money they must have blown making these segments, because they were shot like movies. No promotion knew how to waste money better than WCW.
  20. OMG I'm so shocked! This was the most controversial moment in the history of television to date!! Outside of trash TV has anyone every heard 2 women speaking like this to each other? I know wrestling is a crazy self contained world but this was so retarded.
  21. This is such a memorable angle I couldn't believe how short it was. The jobber wins and instantly turns into a superstar.
  22. Superbly done squash as Vader debuts in UWFI. He looked like an unstoppable monster and it would take the promotions top stars to have a prayer against him.
  23. Had this been in WCW they'd have had a close up of Eddie's "Brother" laying on the ground with a look of terror as the tractor approaches, before cutting away and doing a squelching sound effect as Funk does an evil laugh. The budget didn't quite extend that far here so they did it Ed Wood style, which is even better.
  24. Billy Gunn introducing himself is the most homosexual moment on this set that doesn't feature Shawn Michaels.
  25. I can remember from the time how disgusted people were at school about this! This was when I was 12 and everyone who watched wrestling here seemed to hate Hogan.
