    What a week for Hase. OK he lost here but I think I'd rather be him afterwards. The man with the dodgy 'tache gained the early advantage whilst Muta was showboating. After a few minutes it started getting dirty as they used cheapshots. Muta brought the strangeness. Halfway through he took a metal spike to the head and the blood poureth. Man it was gushing down, great visual. Hase showed no mercy. It was so sick the way he kept biting the the wound and ended up caked in blood himself, not to mention it being all over the mat. It got the crowd behind Keiji and he launched an exciting comeback to prevail. Strong climax. Not a great match, but a classic.

    A fine match, full of goodness over it's 25m duration. The whole bout was fought in the centre of the ring with little striking. Both utilised a wide array of techniques and the tide went back and forth. Could've used a little more variation in pacing. Chono worked on the knee which was sold very well later on. The G1 winner was head down and totally focused on the job in hand. Hase showed more character and engaged the crowd. Decent finish and an impressive showing from both men.

    They'd established a strong rivalry in the tag bouts and here was the blowoff to the feud. Kosh bled a bit but the blood stains were still there to remind us of the last fight. It kept looking as if it was going to explode but then Tenryu would slow it down. Peaked near the finish when it really looked like the upset was on. Given that Kosh wasn't a top liner it's a big compliment to both wrestlers that the fans believed. Overall very good but they could've done even better.

    Steamboat came out to 'Family Man', thankfully without Bonnie and Junior. He had a heated rivalry with Windham. A nice full length encounter that was always watchable and peaked in the closing stages. Would've been better if someone had replaced Dean Douglas. I never rated the guy at all.

    Years ago I used to think that Orihara sucked. I still do. Kanemoto dicking it up was fun and there were some good moves, yet this was a sloppy match.

    Great top 100. I'll certainly be referencing this when I get onto the 1994 yearbook. I do think that you should reconsider your #90 however.

    My appreciation of Giant-o shot right up whilst watching the 80's set. He's as wooden as an oak but every bit as wise. The team with Kobashi worked so well with the young man carrying the workload. Baba was hugely entertaining just directing traffic on the apron. He was also so charismatic and charming in the ring. Lasted over 25m and a joy to watch. They took it as far as they could given the booking and physical limitations.

    Such a poor way to end the year. AJ certainly had a dip in the 2nd half of 92 with Jumbo's illness. I'm quietly confident that they will recover in 93. Even at this time Tosh was starting to look a bit jealous of his partner.

    New Japan meets Wrestle and Romance. There was a good atmosphere, though not as ravenous as the October meeting. The rivalry was carried over. There wasn't enough Tenryu vs Koshinaka this time as they had the upcoming singles. Koki got his face worked over. Aoyagi was a strange inclusion as he looked like an outsider on the NJ team. Had it's moments but ultimately there was too much ring time for undercard workers.

    The start of one of the greatest rivalries in the history of wrestling. Here they were still partners and yet to develop the bitterness that would soon grow between them. That was the only thing missing as this was a masterclass in match construction. Nobody knows how to do a build anymore these days. Here they did it slowly and effectively. They always maintained the audience's attention whilst gradually increasing the move level. Giving themselves the base made the elongated stretch all the more rewarding. This was Kings Road greatness and a tantalising glimpse of what was to come. As a stand alone match a classic in its own right.

    24m was too long and Han was struggling to last the course. Had moments of promise but the length hurt it big time. Disappointing.

    Tamura was like a young Takada. Talented, cocky, bit of a prick. He was the underdog here yet looked the better fighter and I'm glad he won. He did an effective job of countering strikes and neutralising Yamazakis big advantage in this area. It turned into a submission based contest. At times Kazuo looked short of ideas. After a strong start and with a hot crowd I thought this might explode. That didn't quite happen as it ended up at good level. I'd like to see a rematch.

    It's funny that Astro's biggest strength is his aerial ability given that he's squat and quite porky. Some quite decent work in the 1st. The problem was that both were tecnicos and were being too nicey nicey to try and keep the crowd on their side. Some good moves and some sloppy, a mixed bag. Sometimes slow counts add drama but this was a bit ridiculous. Get a younger ref.

    By itself I wasn't a huge fan of this match. However as a companion piece to the Dreamslam tag it's interesting to watch the style. The structure is very rigid with moves, holds, moves, holds etc.

    A coal miners glove match might had been more entertaining had they tried to film it down a mineshaft. I'm sure some promotion must have tried a subterranean match at one time in history.

    A glimpse into the mind of the boy wonder. He must have been hazed so badly. I quite enjoyed this vignette because it sucked.

    The rematch and Takada's revenge. They started off slowly and built it up. Being such diverse workers who combined so well is what makes this series special. The attacks were nicely balanced between strikes, moves and holds. Allbright was a hulking beast who carried an air of danger with his size and sumplexes. But he had to be wary of Takada's strikes and technique. It got red hot in the 2nd half with a big match feel. Takada barely managed to avoid the most dangerous sumplex and locked on the jujigatame for the victory. Intelligently worked, and left me wanting to see the next match in the rivalry.

    This is Wrestlecrap at it's finest. Someone had a really sick and twisted imagination to think up this insanity. Cheatum the Evil Midget was such a great character that they brought him back the following year.

    No high flying as they went down in the trenches with brawling and blood. Satanico has great facials. I couldn't help thinking that Dandy is better suited to being a rudo. A fun match with a nice ending as Satan cheats to win. Wait a sec... they overturn the decision and Dandy wins 1 move later. Ugh. Real shame they did that.

    The build was mediocre. The pacing felt off, like they were doing things in the wrong order. Fortunately it picked up a lot in the 2nd half as they showed what they could do. Rare submission finisher in a big bout.

    Mrs Foley's baby boy against the son of a son. A lesser version of the Sting match from Beach Blast. They made good use of the time as they brawled on the floor and delivered chairshots.

    I was there cheering the Bulldog on. My Dad's secretary only had to queue 5 hours for the tickets as well! Pre-match they had "Grown men in skirts playing vacuum cleaners". The Brain was on top form. Watching it now you can see what a carry job it was. Bret had to keep grabbing chinlocks to talk Dog through the spots. Quite a lengthy battle with no brawling, pure wrestling all the way. Had an advanced closing stretch with both surviving finishers. The final move was great. As a main event of a big show it certainly did it's job and sent the fans home happy. It doesn't hold up as a great match today. The post match was corny but fitting as it was happy families with the two of them embracing Diana in the ring. Her 'concerned' looks during the match were a highlight for someone who appreciates bad acting.

    I'm surprised at how well this holds up. Great atmosphere, I wasn't the only Warrior fan in attendance! They went at it hammer and tongs from the start with exhaustion setting in as it progressed. It would've been better without the interference as the storyline completely took over in the end. Normally with a Warrior match that was this lengthy you might need some shenanigans to fill the time, but they were performing way better than expected in the ring. It was still very dramatic and enjoyable. They did a ton of near falls. Well I say 'near', but Earl Hebner never did a convincing near fall in his wretched and never ending career. What an awful referee who hurt so many high profile main events over the decades.

    Holy crap the top rope DQ was such a horrible idea. I loved when they had a fan poll with 88% against it. Quick paced action all the way and a breeze to watch. Unsurprisingly it was rushed and needed longer. I have to say that I'm not entirely convinced Super Invader was really from Bangkok. But surely they wouldn't lie to the fans would they?

    Dick-o was a powerful looking man with hard strikes. It's wierd because the action wasn't that great but the fans were reacting like it's the most awesome thing ever. Piped? The storyline was as goofy as the proverbial pet coon as Han was down 4 times before the Rocky comeback.
