  1. "I know its not gonna work out. I know this is a bad idea". I had the same thoughts when I clicked the link. I made it 12 seconds. That's a personal record for me listening to this man.
  2. The garbage can shot to the skull was pretty brutal though.
  3. While this segment isn't his finest moment, I think Flash was one of the more under-utilized wrestlers of the era. I think he's still kicking around still.
  4. I felt the same way when Eddie Gilbert died and they showed that "The Dance" video on USWA tv. I haven't gotten this yearbook yet (Im going all on memory) but I hope that interview Vince did with Melanie Pillman didn't make the cut. That was one of the most puke-inducing, sleazy, exploitative things WWE has ever done. Maybe not the interview itself but the bumpers leading up to it.
  5. This was scheduled to be Shawn vs Pillman but fate and a brawl in the men's room intervened.
  6. Yeah, this is one week where in the pure image department, WCW won hands down. WCW had a sold out crowd in a major NBA arena. RAW was in a quiet, dark, half-empty hockey arena WAY the hell up in the boonies of New York state. WCW couldn't have thought though that Rodman would be a heel. It was in Chicago on the Chicago Day of Celebration for the Bulls winning the NBA Championship. The mind reels at the debauchery Rodman would see and participate in later that night.
  7. Mr. Wrestling is Carl Fergie, veteran of the Southern territories. Dreamer was stoked about doing this. He had his picture taken with Lance Russell and Dutch Mantell for his own personal collection. The other wrestlers there started calling him a "mark", that most derisive of terms that will curve your spine, put hair on your palm and make you were a Scarlett M on your chest. To all the wrestlers (oh, Im sorry, "workers") that use the term "mark", please go fuck yourself. To death.
  8. Lawler asks Lance if he'd ever heard of Nirvana. Lance's reaction of "well, yeah" in a complete "duh, Jerry" tone was terrific. Corey Maclin would have just grinned, chuckled and said of course not.
  9. I liked the WCW-bound-and-we-all-knew-it Raven's sly smile. I'll disagree with you on this one. I think its Fonzie who steals the show here. "I like to get MESSAGES" line both amused yet terrified me as a mental image of Bill Alfonzo getting a blowjob in that club Willie Green ran in "Dolemite" popped up.
  10. The religious overtones did get a lot of heat at the time. This was the second Russo aided show. Last week's angle heavy show with the Goldust semi-shoot bullshit was the first real Russo influence. For the record (and particularly for the folks that bought the Jim Cornette Timeline dvd), it was the South Africa/Muncie, IN RAW that was the one that got a horrible rating, had shitty audio and was the one that Vince flipped his lid over. It wasn't the one in Germany as Cornette seemed to think.
  11. This wasn't quite an epic disaster but it sure wasn't good. Somebody thought giving these two 17 minutes was the right call but about 7 or 8 minutes in, the call came from backstage to go home. Neither guy had a clue as to how to think on the fly and had rehearsed this match a few times, so they went the whole time.
  12. To me, it came off like Raven was asking Stevie to kill him. Literally kill him.
  13. Just for the sake of noting, the term "flaming fag" got a babyface pop live in the building.
  14. I think the Tyson deal was just a publicity attempt.
  15. The Shooting Stars are Jerry Faith & Kevin Haste. They were two Danny Davis trainees that had been there in '94 as The Phantoms.
  16. Bill Dundee's ego is at least five times the size of Glen Jacobs.
  17. It was rumored that Big Ted was going to appear on this Nitro but I guess was too busy smoking weed so Shiller took his spot. Zbyszko's line of "take away his credit card" made me chuckle.
  18. Piper was legitimately pissed off about the reaction the Tryouts segment received and goes on a little tirade about everything in sight.
  19. The Train Wreck analogy works best here. Btw, This was the highest rated segment of the night and crushed RAW. The hairy man in little red shorts doing that weird running in place provided many o' belly laughs that night.
  20. Wasn't Alcatraz closed by then?
  21. Why they would deliberately give the tape of this to run on live tv is one that I never could wrap my head around.
  22. Unfortunately though, Billy's daughter saw this live. She freaked out so bad that she had to go to the emergency room.

  24. I was there for this one. I was pretty close to the stage on the hard camera side. When those explosions went off at the beginning of the live show, I screamed like a little girl, jumped in fear and nearly knocked down a total stranger next to me. I do love this match. I think youre underrating it actually.
  25. I think the reason for this mess was that Piper called the go-home way too soon.
