  1. Someone should tell Peter Avalon that librarians don't wear Hugh Heffner pimp bathrobes.
  2. Agreed, @goodhelmet. In the case of hiring J.R., this is one instance where I'm glad AEW ignored the millennial "movez" fans. J.R. makes everything better and adds a credibility to AEW that money can't buy. Excalibur is very good too, but my God, that mask is goofy. I have a soft spot for Marvez because I read his "insider" column as a kid long before I knew what a Meltzer was.
  3. The name Dark Order doesn't help either. Sounds like some bad, hokey e-fed or video game CAW shit.
  4. My guess is somewhat real means, "Yeah, we know it's fake, but that match was real because Ric Flair still has a scar."
  5. Which is why this is easily, indisputably the best wrestling shirt of the year.
  6. A Twitter feud for the ages... Shane Helms and comedian Ron Funches throw down about the history of racism in wrestling. Click on the tweet for more in the thread.
  7. This doesn't really sound like the "more serious" show Fight for the Fallen was supposed to be. (Granted, it's just the pre-show, but still...)
  8. I'll play... Match of the Year: Cody vs. Dustin Rhodes - AEW Double or Nothing Best Major Wrestling Show: AEW Double or Nothing Best Promotion: AEW (Yeah, I know, I know... Only two standalone shows so far, no TV until October, etc., but no other fed has created the undeniable excitement this year that AEW has.) Best on Interviews: The Miz (as hated as his Shane feud may have been, The Miz transitioned into a tough guy and family man convincingly) Feud of the Year: Daniel Bryan vs. Kofi Kingston Most Improved: Cody (genuine improvement - no one else put all the pieces together as a persona and in-ring performer the way he did this year) Wrestler of the Year: Dustin Rhodes (from WWE afterthought to MOTY, all in the span of one match - an incredible achievement and even more impressive at the age of 50+)
  9. So, uh, Enzo and JANELABABY apparently got into a "fight" at a concert.
  10. How does that not break his non-compete though? If anyone could debut before their non-compete was over, but in a mask and without being named, everyone would. I realize Impact is a nothing fed now (I don't mean talent-wise), but I can't imagine the heavily litigious WWE letting this slide if true.
  11. I don't think it's a mess at all - I think it's actually one of their best feuds - but you are right about Bayley. I'm not sure if she's acting like an asshole as much as it's a case of the writers not knowing how to script anything other than "catty" for the women and Bayley herself being a notoriously poor actor and mic worker (easily the worst on the female roster). Nikki has done a phenomenal job and this has made her a star, so that's why I don't think it's a mess or a disaster.
  12. That was actually a decent little match between Reigns and Ziggler.
  13. Non-title matches are fucking useless, and a crutch WWE overly relies on to set up title matches that are no longer fresh. Enough already!
  14. I lost interest in the first place because I got paired with shitheads who never responded to the matches I gave them (no offense if you were one of said shitheads). I'm also more limited now because I no longer have the WWE Network, NJPW World, etc. With all of that said, I'd definitely be interested again.
  15. Am I the only one more worried about the condition of KO's Porsche?
  16. You guys, he's actually right. But forget about the announcers... Shane and Drew believing it made even less sense. Why would the janitor suddenly need to wear a mask? Edit: Apparently Shane asked the janitor to wear the mask? I completely missed that. Also makes no sense.
  17. Ouch! It's a shame, because weren't people predicting this guy would win the Royal Rumble and headline WrestleMania? Since then, he's been positioned as a Mike Kanellis "bitch" character for Baron and now Shane, with loss after loss to go along with it. At this point, Drew defeating Taker would not be remotely believable.
  18. Hopefully neither. But I could see Taker turning and become one of Shane's kiss-asses. His run in the same role with Vince was underrated.
  19. AJ becoming an arrogant schmuck in the course of one week feels so fake. I realize wrestling and heel turns have always been that way, but still.
  20. This show has been an enormous pile of shit. So much for "the Heyman touch." We're back to business as usual already.
  21. WTF was that shit?!?! Rey is probably regretting not signing with AEW.
  22. I wouldn't want to drink that beer after Shane and his Scottish crony spoke and sweat over it.
