Something to Wrestle with Bruce Prichard
C.S. replied to Lust Hogan's topic in Publications and Podcasts
My thoughts on the WWE Network version of this: (Note: I'm new to Bruce Prichard and Conrad Thompson. I have not listened to their podcast before, but I have read the recaps on PWPodcasts.com.) First of all, the content is INCREDIBLE - "Dave Meltzer would have given Kane vs. Undertaker 18 stars if Kane had set the Tokyo Dome on fire" haha! - and some of Prichard's imitations are spot-on. Others are...less so. Cornette sounds like a chipmunk, Heyman sounds nothing Heyman, and Patterson is impossible to understand. With that said, he at least nailed the word choices Cornette and Heyman would make. Also, the argument between Prichard and Conrad about Prichard kissing Triple H's ass felt really forced, as did Conrad constantly sucking Meltzer's teet by quoting him seemingly every ten seconds. But that's obviously their shtick. Overall, it's fantastic. But what the hell is the deal with the piss-poor production values? 1. Prichard's feed is choppy as hell, to the point where I thought something was wrong with my connection. 2. Conrad Thompson's feed is even worse - choppy too, low res, just awful. 3. The entire presentation looks like shit. Really ugly blue borders and boxes for Bruce and Conrad that are actually crooked on the screen. 4. Very little video footage. Geez, Conrad wasn't kidding when he said he didn't really work for WWE Network, because there's no way WWE had anything to do with this. That's a plus content-wise but a minus in every other way. How hard would it be for WWE to give these guys a studio or oversee the production in some way? It looks abysmally bad. I've seen amateur YouTubers with more professional presentations - I'm not kidding. Edit: I believe both of them. How is that it possible? Prichard is probably right that it happened. But I also believe Michaels' denial. When your back is in that much pain, you're not looking around - you're focusing straight ahead and trying to block out the pain as much as you can (which is nearly impossible, BTW) - so I can totally buy that Shawn may not have even noticed Undertaker. Plus, Shawn was on a variety cocktails on top of that. -
Did anyone else watch the Bruce Prichard podcast - Something ELSE to Wrestle With - on WWE Network? (Note: I'm new to Bruce Prichard and Conrad Thompson. This thread needs more Cena and Nikki. Why? I don't know. It sounds like he's just promoting his weird guest and doesn't actually believe any of this crap himself... ...at least I hope so.
-
Bad timing on Dave's part, but it's already been established that he's awkward at best on Twitter. Can we assume no malicious intent instead of being quick to play the "wanker" card?
-
I heard Kane was pulled from the GRR because of his political duties. If that was posted in this very thread, please accept my apologies for re-heating old news.
-
What a very sad and unexpected loss to log on to, even though he was getting up there in years. I'm glad he got reconcile with WWE and enter the HOF, though I suspect he did that more for the fans than himself. I hope we're still getting a loaded DVD (or at least Network Special) and that a documentary retrospective was filmed in time. Bruno deserves to have Raw and Smackdown next week dedicated to his memory, with tributes from current stars and any old-timers they can find, but I'm not sure how many people on the roster today have realistically ever seen any of his matches.
-
Why is this still a belief? There's no way they didn't have Bryan sign a new multi-year contract.
-
I don't know if it's that as much as "Holy shit, we have to fill this match with 50 people - let's get anyone and everyone even remotely recognizable into this thing."
-
Why? Goldust hasn't been a gay gimmick in 20 years. At this point, he's just another colorful guy with facepaint - no different from Demon Balor in that respect. I wonder if hope Finn Balor shows up wearing his rainbow getup.

Nattie's cat is more over than Asuka.*
-
Owens is hardly garbage. Nattie is good and always useful to have in any place in the card. She can put over Ronda or be a champion. She's versatile. Revival will eventually be pushed. Can't keep a good team down forever. (Well, you can, but it would be dumb.) Miztourage and Breezango have the potential to be pushed (but won't be). Joe is not a true main eventer IMO. I'd put him more in the Balor/Rollins category as someone who occasionally flirts. I'll be shocked if he wins one match against Roman.
-
My guess is Nattie turns on Ronda to give her a safe veteran to work with, learn from, and win her first singles feud against.
-
Fair enough. But I genuinely wasn't thinking "concussion." That's absolutely not what I meant. I can see why it came across that way though. My apologies there. I was just thinking Jeff got his ass kicked a bit, and I wasn't exactly sad about it because he's a selfish, reckless, irresponsible piece of shit and so is Jey Uso. My guess is nothing happened to Jeff at all, and nothing will happen to Jinder even if he was clumsy, because he's been clumsy before (during the last Superstar Shakeup on Raw, right before he was traded to SDL, if memory serves me correctly) and nothing happened then either.
-
I never said anything about concussions though? I swear, sometimes this board is worse than a game of "telephone."
-
Didn't Jose turn heel in NXT, or am I imagining the whole thing? I remember him being pretty awesome at it too. One hell of a dream if it never happened.
-
Sorry, not sorry. When you recklessly endanger other people's lives by driving under the influence, you're a selfish piece of shit and I don't care what happens to you.
-
Jeff deserves it for getting a DUI. Fuck him and Jey Uso. Hope they become riding buddies on Smackdown.
-
I'm glad the worthless U.S. Title is now paired with the worthless Universal Title. Put Miz and IC back on Smackdown with Bryan. Edit: I forgot Miz lost the title. Tells you how memorable Seth Rollins and Finn Balor are.

Rusev vs. Taker is back on. After much thought, I have notified @WWE officials that I have changed my mind. @RusevBUL will celebrate #RusevDay by burying The Undertaker in the sands of Saudi Arabi and will win the Casket Match at #WWEGRR ! #RusevCrush ! Have a Happy Rusev Day ! — CJ (Lana) Perry (@LanaWWE) April 16, 2018

Guys, I never said the quote system was "broken" or "didn't work" - I just said it was a pain in the ass, which it is. Thankfully, a kind forum member clued me in a long time ago on the secret double-probation text-only mode. P.S.

Judy Bagwell was stupid crap, but this was a feel-good moment that worked for a decent chunk of the audience. Also, in a card that was on its 6th hour and already filled with delirious booking swerves, this felt almost appropriate. Plus, WWE has never been good with surprises. If you were actually anticipating something huge and you're a longtime WWE fan, I really have to question your expectations and/or memory.

People will remember Nicholas in ten years. Joe returning for a meaningless match and reign would have been forgotten by SummerSlam, never mind a decade from now. Joe's return the following night was a better use of him. If not Nicholas but a wrestler instead, Ellsworth is still who I would have considered the ideal pick.He would've blown the roof off the place just as much as Joe in that specific scenario because of his history with Braun.
-
I think all of you are underestimating how hard it is to make a living outside of the WWE machine. Omega: Sure. Bucks: Yeah. Cody, even though he was devalued as Stardust, was still a known quantity with a fan-following because of the WWE. AJ and Bryan are not good examples to use because things were very different in 2005 when signing with the WWE than they are in 2018. Neither of them were name stars then who could command big money deals and/or much less dates from TNA like Angle, Christian, Foley, etc.
-
Ellsworth is about the only legitimate "surprise" that would've been better than Nicholas. Joe: No. Square peg, round hole. Wouldn't have fit with Braun or the storyline. Cass: He would suck as any kind of "surprise" - Braun or not. Big Show: An imposing team and would have been fun in the long run - but as a "surprise," it would've been as welcome as an Andre fart. Jose: No one would have cared. He was in the crowd for WM, showing on camera during the Nicholas angle, and still no one cared.

A title shot at Summerslam? A title shot at Greatest SummerSlam in December?
