Amen brother. To the point about dropping PPVs and putting them on the Network ... one has to think, if this Network were to tank and go belly up like the XFL and the numerous other ventures they've tried, how many people will go back and pay $54.95 (or whatever the price is) for a show in HD? My guess is not many.

Agreed that getting rid of the 6-month commitment is smart. That probably scared a lot of people away to begin with. I see all of these promotions for new subscribers, but what about the current subscribers (like myself) who have subscribed from day one expecting all this great stuff, when halfway through the first six months, they shit the bed and stopped updating World Class, ECW, Old School, etc. I'll stay a network subscriber mainly because of the PPVs, however they drastically need to increase the on-demand library with all the classic footage they have. I'm of the opinion that no one subscribes to the Network just so they can see Legends House, Countdown, etc.

The Jim Cornette Experience
kayfabe1984 replied to flyonthewall2983's topic in Publications and Podcasts
Really enjoyed the past few episodes, the interviews with Brian Elliott and Sean Wheelock were very good. -
I subscribed the first day. I watch it here and there and sometimes just put a random show on for noise. Mainly now, I just watch it when the PPVs are on.

Diving deeper into 2001 WCW http://epicwrestlingadventure.blogspot.com/2014/10/2001-wcw-odyssey-wcw-thunder-11001.html

EDIT Wrong thread. Sorry.

Nitros have been added. Rivalries are still coming. September has come and gone and we've gotten zilch on WCCW and ECW. Not to mention the old Raw episodes stopped dead in their tracks at August 1995, right as the Monday Night War series started. Would it not have made sense to post the old Raw episodes along with Nitro as the series was starting? Apparently not. Really, really disappointed there were no new additions of WCCW or ECW.

Best Non-WrestleMania Pay-Per-View Ever?

I second this. -
I would buy Russo's merch and then use it in a bonfire. If it came from Hell it should definitely be flammable, right?

There's a bit of truth to this. Paul Bearer talked about it in one of his ROH shoot interviews. it was Jake's last night with the company and didn't want to get beat clean with the Tombstone in the middle of the ring. Therefore, he changed the finish to where Taker tombstoned him on the floor and then rolled him in the ring to get pinned. According to Paul Bearer, Vince was furious over this and blamed Taker since he couldn't do anything to Jake. I can't remember the exact details but that was pretty much it.

I think it's safe to say that once their contract is up on Spike, they're done. I can't imagine anyone else picking them up unless it's a low tier network.

I'm currently watching 2001 WCW from start to finish and reviewing each show. Not sure why I'm doing this to myself. My thoughts on the first Thunder of the year here: http://epicwrestlingadventure.blogspot.com/2014/09/2001-wcw-odyssey-wcw-thunder-1301.html

Your personal most Overrated and Underrated
kayfabe1984 replied to JaymeFuture's topic in Megathread archive
I've always felt that the Snuka/Muraco cage match from MSG in over-rated. I watched it on a DVD once and I expected a lot going into it since it was hyped so much. Granted Snuka's dive was nuts but the rest of the match I though was lame. Speaking of Snuka, never really saw what was so great about him in general. As far as under rated guys ... there's a litany to pick from. Someone above mentioned Terry Taylor. He never got a fair shake after being handed the Rooster so I'd go with him. I'm also a big fan of late 80s-early 90s Greg Valentine. -
I wrote up a much more detailed look than I had planned for a local event I attended over July 4th weekend: http://epicwrestlingadventure.blogspot.com/2014/09/hwa-cyberclash-70-7514.html

I'm a really big fan of the show and send in questions from time to time. I like the way it's just free form and unscripted. It's primarily the reason I subscribe to the Observer site.

Current Favorite Wrestler To Watch: Probably going to have to side with Bray Wyatt and his clan on this one, with Dean Ambrose a very close second. Since they debuted last year, the Wyatt clan has been far and away my favorite thing on WWE TV. Last Fun Match You Saw: Hmmm ... that's a tough one. Really liked the Money in the Bank briefcase match and the RVD/Seth Rollins match from the next night on Raw. Wrestler You Want To See More Of: Bad News Barrett ... but we can blame Jack Swagger for completely ruining that situation. Last Live Show Attended: HWA from this past January with Ricky Morton vs. Tarek the Great. Going back to their next show on Saturday that has nine matches on the card featuring Cliff Compton, Necro Butcher, Shark Boy, and B.J. Whitmer among others. Match You Are Looking Forward To Watching Soon The Most: Ambrose vs. Rollins whenever it happens should be an awesome old school fist fight and I'm looking forward to every second of it, although the possibility of Jericho vs. Wyatt has me intrigued. Last Fun Interview/Promo You Saw: Haven't really seen anything recently that's stuck out, so I'll have to pass. Last Interesting Thing You Read About Wrestling: Bryan Alvarez's TNA rant a few weeks ago in the Figure Four newsletter. That had me rolling. However, I fully intend on checking out this piece on CHIKARA that everyone seems to be raving about. Last Worthwhile Wrestling Podcast You Heard: Haven't had time recently to listen to a lot of podcasts but my go to podcasts are the Jim Cornette Experience and the Dragon King Karl show on the Observer site. Most Fun You've Had Watching Wrestling Lately: Every time I watch wrestling I try to have fun. If I don't have fun and enjoy myself while watching it, then why bother? I'm not going to watch something and just incessantly rip on everything and ruin it. I'll watch it for the good, the bad, and the ridiculous. That's what it's all about, right? Just kicking back, having fun, and enjoying some theatrical combat sports.

Let us not forget Art Donovan at the 1994 King of the Ring.

Watched Wrestlefest '95 yesterday featuring a plethora of bad matches and one awesome Jerry Lawler performance. My thoughts here: http://epicwrestlingadventure.blogspot.com/2014/09/wwf-wrestlefest-95.html

Me too. I still have issues with the WrestleMania Rewinds unless I watch them through the program guide. Also, the 85 house show from Maple Leaf Gardens randomly disappeared between last night and this morning. For the most part though, the Network on the Roku has been spot on aside from those minor glitches which will sort themselves out in time.

help me make a wwe network playlist for a casual friend
kayfabe1984 replied to efrim's topic in Pro Wrestling
From Wrestle War 1992 go with the last three matches: - Brian Pillman vs. Z-Man - Steiner Brothers vs. Tatsumi Fujinami & Takayuki Iizuka - War Games (Sting, Koloff, Windham, Rhodes, & Steamboat vs. Zbyzszko, Arn Anderson, Austin, Eaton, & Rude) I second Victory's comment about Steiners vs. Luger & Sting at SuperBrawl 1. The War Games on Wrestle War '91 is another good one. -
Anybody else having issues on the Roku where it won't let you access the network even though you're a paid subscriber? EDIT: Looks like the Network is down because when I try to access it through WWE.com I get an "Htpp/1.1 Service Unavailable" error.

Watched Wrestle War '92 off of the Network last night. A lot of the early stuff on the show was kinda bland. The opening tag with the Freebirds against Valentine & Taylor was really good. Forgot just how awesome the last three matches on the show are. Steiners vs. Fujinami & Iizuka is four dudes beating the shit out of each other and is absolutely brutal, Pillman vs. Zenk is a really good back-and-forth match, and the War Games ... you can feel the hatred and violence even 22 years later. Pretty much everyone is covered in blood, a ring gets destroyed, and it's just a physical and violent match. Honestly, my favorite War Games Match ever. The crowd is just rabid. If anything watch the show for just the last three matches.

I may be wrong but from what I remember of that week, the actual footage of the leg break didn't air on the PPV, it aired on the night after, on WCW Monday Nitro. I thought the leg break was shown on the live broadcast because I know I have seen the break before but it was removed from the DVD (or in WCW case the VHS ) it wasn't on the Classics version of the show Noodles is correct, the leg break did not air on PPV. I just saw the show recently. It did air the next night on Nitro. Also, as far as I know, the show was never released on video. I believe the last WCW VHS release in the U.S. was either Fall Brawl 2000 or Halloween Havoc 2000.

Agreed. However, I do have a Network tech support horror story to share ... My wife was off on Monday while I had to work and so I had her sign us up for the Network. She got to the payment screen but never got a confirmation that anything went through, so I signed us up on my lunch break. Low and behold, she had gotten through because we both were charged for the Network. So she, decides to call customer service to cancel her account, gets disconnected TWELVE TIMES. When she asked for a supervisor, they told her "we're not allowed to do that". I called when I got home from work to cancel my account. I was able to get through, albeit to someone who didn't speak very good English, and explained the situation. She was very confused. I told her again what happened and that I wanted to cancel my account. She said OK and to hold on since it would take her a minute to do so. Eventually after 20 minutes, I was put on hold for about six minutes and blindly transferred to someone who picked up the phone and simply said "hello, are you there?". I said yes and they told me my account was canceled. How on earth it took them nearly 30 minutes to cancel my account is ridiculous. We're now using my wife's account for the Network and everything is working good now.
