Yeah, there's no way people won't reject Reigns if they don't re-write plans. Yeah, Reigns could very well be the huge star they are grooming him to be in time, but it's going to go to hell if they book him over Bryan. Why? Beccause we all know that the simple fact of the matter is that Daniel Bryan is who the audience have chosen. Although it's highly unlikely they would do this, the smartest course of action may be to have both Bryan and Reigns go over the top at the same time and be declared co-winners (a'la Hart and Luger). One of them would get the title shot in the opening match against Lesnar, and the other would meet the winner of that in the main event. Reigns would meet Lesnar in the opening match, which would detirorate because the Authority would get involved when Lesnar is in trouble, and wind up taking out Reigns. Meanwhile, Bryan has a preliminary match against somebody - perhaps Seth Rollins? In the main event, Bryan meets Lesnar, the Authority tries to do the same thing to Bryan, but Reigns would storm out and clean house (winning the crowd over to him perhaps, as he is the enabler for Daniel Bryan to defeat Lesnar) on the Authority. With the Authority no longer a factor, the match between Lesnar and Bryan continues. Bryan then overcomes the odds and defeats Lesnar for the WWE Championship. But that probably won't happen.
  2. 1) Stop subscribing to F4W - everything worth reading is copy and pasted over the internet anyway, you are really only paying for THE BOARD, which is just awful. 2) Give New Japan World a decent trial run.
  3. That's a pretty cool extensive list... But yeah, a bit too much dude! Keep it simple, let everybody have a go. Feel free to use wrestlers more than once if you haven't already. Remember, it's singular opinion based. Here's another: Wrestler: Rick Steiner Greatest Match: Rick Steiner and Scott Steiner © vs. Sting and Lex Luger - WCW Superbrawl I (WCW Tag Team Championship) Greatest Rivalry: Rick Steiner vs. Mike Rotunda (JCP/WCW) and another: Wrestler: Samoa Joe Greatest Match: Samoa Joe vs. Christopher Daniels © vs. AJ Styles - TNA Unbreakable (NWA X Division Championship) Greatest Rivalry: Samoa Joe vs. CM Punk (ROH)
  4. WRESTLEMANIA XXVII Sheamus © vs. Dolph Ziggler (US Title) Edge © vs. Alberto Del Rio (World Heavyweight Title) Cody Rhodes vs. Rey Mysterio Big Show, Kane and Kofi Kingston vs. Justin Gabriel, Heath Slater and Ezekiel Jackson The Miz and Michael Cole vs. Jerry Lawler and Daniel Bryan The Undertaker vs. Triple H Wade Barrett © vs. Santino Marella (Intercontinental Title) John Cena © vs. Randy Orton vs. CM Punk (WWE title) Blue = Re-Booked Match Red = Re-Booked Result - Cena would win the vacant WWE Championship (vacated by Lawler who wins it from Miz at EC) prior to the event. - Punk and Orton would be the last two men at EC, things would get brutal and the match would end in a no contest as a result of them covering each other. This would lead to both men being put into the title match at Mania. - Miz, enraged at his loss to Lawler would align himself with Cole. Lawler would select Daniel Bryan as his tag team partner, given Bryan's history with both Cole and Miz. - Del Rio goes over and wins the WHC, Edge retires, Del Rio takes credit for retiring Edge. This means Christian's victory at ER means so much more. - New Nexus gets involved in the main event, trying to assist Punk. Cue The Rock entering to clean house along with Orton and Cena to take New Nexus (and Punk) out of the equation. In spite of briefly uniting to fight off a comon enemy, the Cena and Rock hostiltiies resume, Rock gives Cena the Rock Bottom and Orton pins him for the victory and the title.
  5. Here's an idea, and one that may really help introduce people to wrestlers/matches/feuds that they otherwise wouldn't come across, using the abundance of YouTube and DailyMotion matches out there. Name a Wrestler Link a video of what you believe to be their Greatest Match State what you believe to be that wrestler's Greatest Feud (this should be an actual feud that features wrestling matches, the idea being that the person interested can do a bit of searching and stumble across great matches) Example: I'll start off: Wrestler: Riki Choshu Greatest Match: Riki Choshu vs. Shinya Hashimoto © - NJPW Wrestling World 1997 (IWGP Heavyweight Championship) Greatest Rivalry: Riki Choshu vs. Tatsumi Fujinami (NJPW)

The pessimist in me is thinking they may try pulling a Michaels'esque fake "I don't think I can do this anymore" angle (see the stuff with Jericho in 2008) as a result of his injury and recovery. I'm hopeful it's a return at the Rumble regardless, the main event picture outside of Brock and Cena has been timid for months, there's so few actual "superstars" at the moment (with the exception of Orton, who was out for a while too). I mean, Rollins has been good, but it's a slow burner with him, Reigns is still meh in my eyes, and they've been start/stop with Ambrose. Remember when Sheamus was tipped to be "the guy"?
  7. Just noticed that Stuart over at SSS is bowing out (in a manner of speaking). After over a decade of being one of the best sources of NJPW coverage, sad times.
  8. Or the word "scenario" is sort of vague. If it said "people with no booking experience tell you how they'd book wwe in an excruciating, wordy manner", I wouldn't have clicked. It's a fan website, rarely frequented by people with actual booking experience. What the hell did you expect? Dusty Rhodes dropping by to answer questions about how he'd handle the current WWE landscape? Back on topic... I'd like to see WWE try to replicate Baba's booking of Kobashi, where a new star loses dozens of his initial matches, but gets over huge in doing so.
  9. The next time WWE does one of those "championship can change hands on a disqualification": Even though it's morbid, I'd like to see a member of the audience jump the rail and attack the wrestler NOT scheduled to go over, in full view of the referee. Surely, in order to maintain kayfabe, the referee would have to call the DQ and award the match to the the wrong guy? Incredible bonus if it involves a title change that was never supposed to happen.

This would be the second time they put an almost-retired wrestler over Miz for a title. The previous year, they had Bret Hart beat him for the United States title... Actually, if I recall correctly, didn't PWInsider or The Observer report that there talk of putting the WWE Championship on Bret Hart at Wrestlemania XXVI? The idea apparently was that Cena and Hart would team up together to take on Batista and Vince in a tag team match where Batista's WWE Championship was at stake, and the person who got the win, would win the title (like the tag match at KOTR 2000). Cena would basically stand aside and let Bret submit Vince for the win and the championship. The next night on Raw, Bret would vacate the title, thereby finally getting to do things the way he wanted, back in 1997 when he was on his way out.

At the time, wasn't putting the title on Lawler, if only for one day, discussed? If so, that really shows a lack of confidence in Miz as champion, if they were seriously considering having him lose the title to Jerry Lawler. I'd imagine if they went through with this, that Miz would not have received a rematch and somebody else would go over Lawler the next night on Raw and faced Cena at Mania. Hell, maybe they'd have gone with Orton (champion) vs Cena vs Punk in a triple threat, with Rock costing Cena the match in a similar fashion to what actually went down.

Did Miz actually draw as champion? It seems to me that people were paying to see Orton, Cena, Rock, etc. He didn't actually headline a PPV as champion until Wrestlemania XXVII, which was all about Rock and Cena anyway.

Since none of those guys are not likely to win the WWE Championship, they will probably never be a fixture in the main event, hell most of them probably won't ever touch upon a main event program. The main event is all that matters in WWE when it's all said and done, as soon as something gets too entertaining that isn't intended for the main event, it's usually shut down or ruined. And because of that, and how the main eventers receive the best booking and storyline priorities, it's very likely that the frustrations of nonsensical booking and start/stop pushes for the guys in that list (many of whom can be, and are entertaining) will continue.

  15. The Mania match obviously. When Brock first quit, I don't think it was seen as an issue of disrespect, at least not until he turned around and demanded that WWE drop their no compete clause so he could wrestle in another promotion. That was probably the single and only big mistake he's made in business matters. The guy comes across as quite astute, he seems quite aware of his market value at any one time and is happy to wait for people to come to him. I think a lot of the allowances Brock has been given, is down to the fact that Vince, Stephanie, Triple H, etc, seem to really like him. Specifically, they see him as a once-in-a-generation athlete, and a guy that fits that "larger than life" look to a tee. Brock's pretty meat and potato in his approach to business too, it seems. It's like: "Here's my price, this is the schedule I'm willing to work, and here's a couple of additional requests I have (sponsor logos), if you agree to that, I'll perform to the highest standard I can, wrestle whoever you want me to wrestle, and lose to whoever you want me to lose to. If not, I'll be back home on my farm." The guy seemingly had no issues with putting John Cena over in his first match back. He performs to a high level, and draws money. I think that Vince is the kind of guy that respects a guy who is simple, but firm in his business dealings. After all, Brock doesn't need WWE, he's an incredibly wealthy man already, he could retire tomorrow and live out the rest of his life on his farm, never wanting for anything.
  16. Muto's 2000 was such a mess. From his awful look with beyond dodgy hair, injuries mounting effecting his performances - his stock was at his lowest. Then from out of nowhere he rebounds, reinvents and has an incredible 2001. Possibly one of the greatest comebacks of all time?

  18. Dusty Rhodes has lost a hell of a lot of weight in a short time recently? Gastric bypass?

If Cena isn't main eventing Mania this year, and WWE is ballsy enough to execute a monster push on Rusev... Why not book Cena vs. Rusev for the United States (or European if they bring it back) title and have Rusev retain via referee stoppage? Basically, Cena refuses to tap or submit to The Accolade because "Cena never gives up", but the idea here is to continue to get the move over as much as Rusev, so Cena passes out in the hold and the ref stops the match. When Rusev's undefeated streak eventually ends, it needs to be to somebody who needs the rub, and not just an incidental loss so they can get the loss out of the way and get the title off Rusev at the same time, in order to transition him to main event feuds. Really, the opportunity exists to continue rebuilding the US title or get the new/old European title over (if it returns), and give somebody a boost. My initial gut instinct would be a face Cesaro. That also lays the seeds for a recurring feud down the line between the two.

At this point, I'm speculating Seth cashing in at the Rumble, thereby inserting himself into the Cena/Lesnar match and pinning Cena to take the title. I'd like this to have happened at Mania - with Seth cashing in and defeating Roman, but I think that ship has sailed. If Cena defeats Lesnar for the title, then who faces Cena at Mania? Reigns, in a face vs. face match, where Cena doesn't go over? They need to get the title of Brock, but they don't want anybody going over him....Yet. So, therefore, either: - Have to do some kind of screwy angle where the title is vacated, Brock and Cena cover each other, both men shoulders down, etc. - Randomly insert somebody else into the match unannounced at the last minute making it a triple threat (a'la Edge @ Suvivor Series 2008). - Have Rollins cash in during the match (thereby making it triple threat rules), where he pins Cena to take the title.
  21. If you like (Bat signalling mods)... I haven't been in there recently, but Dave's talk about Wyatt/Taker this year got me thinking about where they are going to go next year, given it's a more appropriate location for Taker to end his career. I disagree, I reckon most people here could predict the entire 31 card with 70% accuracy. And it's not fantasy booking as such, it's quite realistic, given the fact that WWE needs a big drawing point for 32, given the location and the size of the venue (not to mention, incentive for network subscribers in the midst of dwindling TV viewing figures). Taker's looked pretty awful in photos taken outside of the ring, for the most part, since 2011. Lots of guys look like shit when they are on the bench or come off the road for any significant amount of time. Remember how badly Ric Flair aged in the couple of years after he retired following WM 24? I think it's a combination of cessation of certain supplements, coupled with old injuries and wear and tear from the road catching up with them.
  22. So XXXII is scheduled for the AT&T Stadium in Dallas, TX, that's a big ass stadium (100,000 capacity). My initial predictions? - WWE will announce The Undertaker as the headline Hall of Famer sometime after Wrestlemania this year. I suspect (if Sting gets his way) that Taker vs. Sting will be set in motion following XXXI and this will be billed as Taker's retirement match, not explicitly as a "retirement", but enough for us to fill in the blanks. If not Sting, it's probably going to be John Cena. - If Cena is the chosen opponent, I'd expect the match to close the show. - Taker will do the HOF speech in semi-character. He'll probably mix in some kayfabe elements, but be speaking as Mark Calaway for the most part. - Austin involved in some non-wrestling capacity. Possibly as the special guest host, or maybe as a guest referee. - Seth Rollins will walk in as champion.
  23. Did this "breaking from the script" have something to do with Cena's divorce at the time and the possibility that he may have to take some time off?
  24. This. In fact, it should have been Austin who was the champion putting Brock over at Summerslam that year in place of The Rock. This would have really put forward the point of a new "new era". Austin could have taken the belt from Taker (or hell, even Hogan..) and lost to Brock in what would surely have been a megadraw. No it wouldn't. In 2002 you could argue Austin may have been slightly lower on the totem pole than Rock and quite frankly Austin's stock dropped quite a bit after turning back face. I see no reason why the buy rate would be different. I see your point.... Such a match though, just doesn't seem to fit outside of a big four PPV. You are literally talking about a rookie going over the face (up until that point at least) of the company and supplanting him as the face of the new era.
