COMMERCIAL BREAK Int: Tony is standing by with “Nature Boy” Ric Flair. The Champ is as confident as ever. He wooo’s for the women in the crowd. He’s stylin’ and profiln’ as only the Champ can do. Tony asks him about the Steel Cage match in Atlanta against Bruiser Brody. Flair doesn’t show that he is worried. Brody didn’t beat him at Mayhem, and he won’t do it in Atlanta. Flair isn’t worried about Stan Hansen being named the referee. He just says that is insurance that Brody can’t complain when the Champ beats him inside the cage. Woooo!!! Terry interrupts and says he will be there to make sure Sam keeps that title for their match in Atlanta. COMMERCIAL BREAK Television Title Match One-Fall, 10-Minute TV Time Limit Tully Blanchard (w/ JJ Dillon) vs Pez Whatley “Pistol” Pez starts off hot, a few fists a flying sends the champion to the floor. Tully stalls as he and JJ have a conversation. Tully slowly returns to the ring. Pez grabs a headlock and works the champion to the ground. JJ is yelling at the referee about some invisible infraction. Tully uses the tights to get a rollup, but Pez kicks out. Tully rolls out of the ring again. JJ talks it over with the champion. JJ jumps up on the apron and yells at the referee, Tommy Young. Pez gets distracted by this and walks over to make JJ leap off the apron, Tully slides in the ring behind him and Pearl Harbor’s him. That’s the opening the champion needed. He goes to work on “Pistol” and works him over. Tully hits the Slingshot Suplex and picks up the win. Time: 6:29 Decision: Still TV Champion Tully Blanchard Int: David brings in Tully and JJ. They a bragging about the title defense. JJ tells everyone that he is so proud to be with Tully Blanchard Enterprises. The hottest property on the planet. Tully brags about being the best TV champion in history. David argues that point, saying he stole the title at Mayhem and he’s only been champion a few weeks. JJ laughs at him while Tully stares a hole thru him. JJ says that Tully makes the TV title the most prestigious title in the NWA because he’s holding it. David asks about the Taped Fists match in Atlanta, and they don’t seem to worried about that either. David says they should be, and Tully starts to get mad at him. JJ calms the champ down, and tells David they always have a plan. Don’t worry as they strut off the set. David sends us to black. World Wide Wrestling Taping Bob Caudle welcomes us to the show. Johnny Weaver is at ringside with him and they take it right to the ring. Tag Team Match One-Fall, 10-Minute TV Time Limit US Tag Team Champions Pat Patterson & Ray Stevens (w/ Paul Jones) vs Steve Lombardi and Italian Stallion Before the match starts, the Fantastics walk to ringside and join Bob and Johnny. The champs dominate here. They toy with the opponent’s as they show off for the World Tag Team Champions. The Fantastics show respect toward the US champions, but say that they aren’t the World champions for nothing. They’ve faced the best around the world, and in Atlanta, they will do it again. Stevens ends the match with a second rope leaping knee smash. The US champions celebrate with the US titles in the ring. The Fantastics show off the World titles and walk back to the locker room. Time: 6:41 Decision: Ray Stevens & Pat Patterson COMMERCIAL BREAK Single’s Match One-Fall, 10-Minute TV Time Limit Kendall Windham vs Tiger Chung Lee The announcer’s discuss Kendall failing to take the TV title away from Tully last week in Charlotte. They talk about him still being a young man in the business, and even with the family experience, he still will learn every day. This match start off with Kendall hot, fast paced action. Tiger Chung Lee gets a nice kick to the face to slow the youngster down. Lee begins to work on Kendall as the conversation turns toward Lee being on the outs with Mr. Fuji. The announcer’s discuss that Harley has such a tremendous win-loss record all across the country that he has earned this title shot. Being a former 7-time World Champion, gets you those chances. Johnny Weaver discusses being impressed with his in-ring work, but his attitude has a lot to be desired. The match begins slowly, which is good for Race. But when Houston gets the tempo up, he is on the offense. He’s got Harley off balance. Houston is showing why he’s the champion. Harley is on defense early. We cut to commercial during the match COMMERCIAL BREAK As we return, Harley has gained the advantage. Terry Taylor and Paul Jones make their way to ringside. Paul Jones joins the commentary team. He tells them that he is a big Harley Race fan, and any other night, he’d be cheering for him, but since the title is on the line, he’s gotta cheer for Houston, just so his guy can take the title inside the cage in Atlanta. Harley doesn’t seem bothered as he works over the champion. Houston starts to make a comeback, dropkicking the challenger to the floor. Race climbs up on the apron and Houston meets him with another dropkick. Race falls to the floor. Houston comes out to get him and rolls him inside the ring. Houston rolls back in. Race catches Sam with a leaping knee, but Taylor puts Houston’s foot on the rope to break the count. Race looks confused. He stands up, and yells at Taylor. Jones jumps off the commentary and rushes to the ring to distract the referee. Houston grabs Race and pushes him into Taylor as he rolls up the challenger, Taylor flops onto the apron. As he pulls himself up, referee still distracted, Race pushes the champion off the roll up and he collides with Taylor who now falls into the railing with the force of the collision. Jones rushes off to the aide of his guy. Houston falls back to the mat holding his head. Race quickly takes advantage with a falling headbutt and pins the champion to win the title. Paul Jones is pissed at ringside! Taylor just cost himself the title shot in Atlanta. Taylor realizes what has happened. Houston has rolled to the floor and leaps at Taylor as they brawl. Paul Jones interferes, but gets knocked on his ass during the brawl. Referee’s and officials rush to the ring to break up the fight. As Bob and Johnny are calling this action, Race jumps onto the mic to taunt Weaver. They get nose to nose as Bob sends us off the air, just as Race cheap shots Weaver and they begin to brawl. We see all four men battling as we go to black. Time: 16:33 Decision: New NWA United States Champion, Harley Race Dark Matches Scott Casey & The Vachons defeated The Grappler’s & Larry Zbyszko. 17. Could I get Andre, Brody, Hansen and Abby for the 30th?
  18. In reviewing my roster for possible retirement issues, I cleared out three names from my jobber list. The Scrap Iron's I just couldn't find any info on, they may still be eligible in this time frame, I just couldn't find anything. Frank Williams (Found nothing besides one match in late '85) Scrap Iron Scranton and Scrap Iron Sheppard. Pat Patterson will be done (in ring) at the end of this year. Mr. Fuji will be done (in ring) at the end of this year.
  19. I looked into my roster for possible retirement issues, and I found that I couldn't see anything past Mid-'84 on Frank Williams (besides one late '85 match) and I can't find anything on either Scrap Irons. So I will drop all three from my jobber pack. When my 24 hours are up, I will start to add more jobbers back onto the roster over the next three days.
  20. Mid Atlantic would like to drop Tony DeVito, move Tiger Chung Lee to the jobber pack to replace him and would like to welcome Mr. Pogo to take Lee's roster spot.
  21. Portland, you are all set for those dates.
  22. Fun TV, as always. Love the house shows and the format in which you present them. This show with Lutte International was really fun, some great match ups and the WWF Title Tournament is underway. I am looking forward to seeing how that unfolds.
  23. That tournament built up fast and already having a big time title main event on TV. I like it. The house shows have are good. Truth be told, sometimes the house shows are my favorite part of writing. So much freedom and fun to write those. Looking forward to seeing what is on the horizon for Portland.
  24. Arn Anderson AND Bobby Eaton. That's it, I quit. I love it. Such a fun team in '92, can't wait to see what happens here in '84! It also kills any hopes of forming the real Horsemen in MACW! Haha! I know I just spoke of the roster in Memphis, but damn does this roster have a lot to work with too. Another really fun read, keeping up with USWA is fun, things happening so fast and quick here.
