I must say, I booked Abdullah with an angle in mind for TV, then scrapped that plan. So I still wanted to use him, and the only spot I could figure was my dark match main event. Seeing Flair and Abby...that would be awesome. hahaha Magnum and Andre was a unique as well. Who knows what will come up at the next set of TVs (coming soon by the way!) -

He is as cocky as ever, whooooing and telling the ladies in the crowd he’ll be in a Presidential suite at the Marriott, Whooo!!!! Non Title Match Magnum TA defeated Ray Apollo. COMMERCIAL BREAK 1 The Bolsheviks defeated Paul Roma & Jim Powers. Int. Paul Jones is at the set with Tony Schiavone. He brings out the number one contender to the US Title, as soon as we sign the contract here, and that is Larry Zbyszko. Larry claims that Magnum is running scared and they called him out where he had no choice to accept the challenge. Magnum comes out to the set and signs the contact. He can’t wait to see Larry at the Fall Brawl. The Bolsheviks sneak out from the locker room and attack the US Champion. Larry and Paul join in the attack. Paul Jones walks over to Tony and grabs the microphone and informs us that his newest tag team is the Bolsheviks! The Fantastics rush out to save Magnum from more of a beating. COMMERCIAL BREAK 2 David and Tony welcome us back to the show. They quickly discuss that after The Fantastics helped Magnum to the back, Paul Jones told us that he has sold the contracts of the United States Tag Team Champions. Sometime later in the show, we will find out who he sold those contracts to. They then discuss a very important tournament that was held in Montreal, Quebec, Canada a few days ago. We have a few small clips here, but join us tomorrow on World Wide Wrestling, and we will show all of our NWA Mid Atlantic stars in their matches from the first round. A series of short clips from the tournament air before we go to commercial. COMMERCIAL BREAK 3 Int. The Windham’s come out and talk with David Crockett. Barry talks about how much he enjoyed and was honored to work the Johnny Rougeau Memorial Cup in Montreal recently. He has a lot of respect for all the great wrestling families in the business. He hopes to be able to continue that legacy with his brother. Kendall Windham defeated Dennis Stamp COMMERCIAL BREAK 4 Salvatore Bellomo defeated Dusty Wolfe Int. JJ Dillon. JJ comes out alone. He is elated. David asks what is going on, why is JJ is such a great mood. It can’t be because Tully is defending the TV title against Superstar Graham tonight. JJ says that Tully is the greatest TV champion of all-time and that Graham isn’t going to be a problem. JJ boasts that not only does he have the TV champion with him, but he recently acquired the NWA United States Tag Team Champions, and he brings out Ray Stevens and Pat Patterson. They walk out in thousand dollar suits and the titles around their waist. JJ shakes their hands and presents us with his newest signings. COMMERCIAL BREAK 5 Int. The Fantastics. The NWA World Tag Team Champions walk out and discuss their reign as champions. They won the titles earlier in the year and have been defending it all over the world They will continue to do so against any and all challengers. Mr. Fuji defeated Steve Lombardi COMMERCIAL BREAK 6 Mad Dog & Butcher Vachon defeated Gary Royal & Italian Stallion Int. A debuting Sir Oliver Humperdink has arrived in the NWA and Mid Atlantic Championship Wrestling. He promises to bring chaos to the world and he begins with introducing his boys next week on World Championship Wrestling. COMMERCIAL BREAK 7 NWA Television Championship Match Tully Blanchard defeated Superstar Graham via Countout when JJ Dillon interfered and caused Graham to get counted-out. They were brawling on the floor, as Tully was trying to escape. JJ hid under the ring apron and held onto Graham’s foot as he tried to re-enter the ring. When Graham kicked him loose, he got into the ring, grabbed Tully, bench-pressed him over his head and dropped him hard onto the mat. He pinned Tully and counted his own pinfall. He held his hands over Tully as JJ threatened that he would NEVER be the TV champion. Graham grabbed the belt from the referee and held it over his head. He then dropped it over Blanchard as Superstar Graham left the ring. JJ climbed into the ring to check on the champion as we went to black. WCW TAPING ENDS WWW is all from the Johnny Rougeau Memorial Cup show. Bob Caudle and Johnny Weaver do commentary over the footage Lutte Internationale sent to the NWA. “Hacksaw” Butch Reed (USWA) vs Nikolai Volkoff (Mid-Atlantic) In the opener, Guy Hauray explains that Nikolai Volkoff replaces Harley Race, who has left the Mid-Atlantic territory to go to the USWA. 2 rough and tough individuals scratching and clawing their way and exchanging the momentum with each other. In the very last moments of the match, Butch Reed hits Nikolai Volkoff with the shortarm clothesline and makes the cover but the time limit expires! Right off the bat, our first surprise as both men are eliminated from the tournament. Butch Reed takes the mic and says this is bullshit and he had this match won. Reed says he’s not leaving the ring until the match is restarted. However, out comes International TV Champion Gino Brito from Lutte Internationale and says that he won’t let someone like Reed ruin the tournament for an ego trip. Brito says that if Reed wants to step into the ring again in Montreal, all he has to do is to stick around and face him on August 29th and he’ll put the International TV Championship on the line against him. Butch Reed accepts and says that he’s bringing the International TV Championship back with him and he’s gonna hand it over to Fritz Von Erich in Texas. Time Limit Draw – both Butch Reed & Nikolai Volkoff are eliminated Tito Santana (AWA) vs Superstar Billy Graham (Mid-Atlantic) The crowd seems to be solidly behind Tito Santana in this one. It is clear that Superstar is trying to overmatch Santana with his power and he’s being successful for most of the match. We’re in the final moments of the match and we could very well be headed to another time limit draw. But with less than 30 seconds to go, Tito Santana hits Superstar with his flying forearm smash and pins him at 14:32 to advance! Winner: Tito Santana (14:32) – advances to 2nd round Bob Caudle and Johnny Weaver discuss these two matches, in clipped form, showing thus far the two matches were the NWA contestants were eliminated. Up next after the break, we look at the other two first round matches. COMMERCIAL BREAK 1 Barry Windham (Mid-Atlantic) vs Dick Slater (w/Jimmy Hart) (WWF) Jacques Rougeau is still in the aisle when Dick Slater walks out for the match and Slater is taunting Jacques about his quick loss. Then, Barry Windham is coming out and he invites Jacques Rougeau to stay at ringside for the match. Dick Slater is none too happy about that and as the bell rings, all he can do is look at Jacques Rougeau and yell at him. They get into a heated argument and eventually, Dick Slater turns around and is met with Barry Windham’s Lariat. Windham gets a quick victory at 1:49 to advance. Jacques high-fives Barry Windham and they leave together while Dick Slater throws a temper tantrum in the ring! Winner: Barry Windham (1:49) – advances to 2nd round Larry Zbyszko (Mid-Atlantic) vs Jay Youngblood (Independent) Another case of a singles veteran against a tag team specialist in this first round. Jay Youngblood’s quickness proves to be a problem for the Living Legend and Zbyszko has to resort to dirty tactics to get the victory. At one point, Zbyszko take off the protecting pad from the top turnbuckle and while the referee has his back turned to put the pad back on, Zbyszko uses a roll of coins to nail Jay Youngblood with it. Zbyszko covers Youngblood and gets the victory at 6:07. Winner: Larry Zbyszko (6:07) – advances to 2nd round George “The Animal” Steele (w/Richard “Le Magnifique” Charland) (Lutte Internationale) vs Larry Zbyszko (Mid-Atlantic) As opposed to the previous match, none of these men are exactly fan favourites but it didn’t take away from the crowd being invested in this match as well, given that a Lutte Internationale representative was involved in it. 2 clashes of styles as Larry Zbyszko’s scientific style met George Steele’s more brutish style. Zbyszko’s dirty tricks were ineffective in this one since Richard Charland could make sure they would be rendered useless. Once again, Steele picks up the victory with his hammerlock slam at 8:03 to advance in the tournament. Winner: George “The Animal” Steele (8:03) – advances to quarterfinals Bob and Johnny show the first round where the NWA stars were involved. They also discussed the second round, where Larry Zbyszko didn’t make it pass George Steele. Up next, we see how Barry Windham fared in the second round. COMMERCIAL BREAK 2 Barry Windham (Mid-Atlantic) vs Dusty Rhodes (USWA) If the preceding match was the best match of the night, this one was probably the most anticipated match of this 2nd round. Both men shook hands before the bell rings and the crowd is literally split 50/50 between both wrestlers. Windham showed that his deceptive agility could be enough to lead him to victory but that wasn’t without counting Dusty Rhodes’ immense heart, which gave for a tremendous spectacle for the fans at the Montreal Forum. But both men also showed a lot of pride and desire to win, which ironically lead to the end of the match as well. Windham & Dusty got into a furious exchange in the corner and in the heat of the moment, both men shoved referee Luigi Macera twice, giving him no choice but to disqualify both men, much to the dismay of the fans in attendance. Macera officially called off the match at 13:47 Both Barry Windham & Dusty Rhodes are disqualified & are eliminated from the tournament After voicing their displeasure of the referee’s decision, Barry Windham & Dusty Rhodes shook hands and cut a promo talking about how they want to come back next year and do better. Barry Windham says that he’ll watch the rest of the tournament with interest, just like the American Dream and they hope the right man will win the tournament. Both leave under a big round of applause. Bob and Johnny discuss the respect Barry Windham had for this tournament and how disappointed he was when his match went to a double-disqualification. However, Barry did have some action on the final night of action from Montreal, and we’ll see how that came about next! Rick Martel (Lutte Internationale) vs Bob Orton (w/Jimmy Hart) (WWF) Like his previous 2nd round match, Bob Orton jumped on Rick Martel from the start to gain an early advantage. However, Rick Martel fought back quickly and got the advantage. Martel is able to hit his Slingshot Splash early but here comes International Heavyweight Champion Greg Valentine to interfere! Referee calls for the bell at 2:41 and Rick Martel advances to the semifinals. Winner: Rick Martel (2:41) – advances to semifinals Greg Valentine & Bob Orton team up on Rick Martel as they focus on Martel’s ankle. They stomp him while Jimmy Hart go gets a chair. Valentine positions the ankle to be broken with a chairshot but before he can do anything, Barry Windham & Dusty Rhodes run in to come to the aid of Rick Martel as all hell breaks loose! Dusty delivers a pair of bionic elbows to Bob Orton & Jimmy Hart while Windham trades fists with Valentine. Windham throws Valentine outside of the ring and checks on Martel. Windham asks for the microphone and tells Valentine that he seems to be looking for a fight so why don’t he put his money where his mouth is and put his International Heavyweight Championship on the line against him right here, right now? Valentine agrees and the match is on! International Heavyweight Championship Greg Valentine (w/Bob Orton & Jimmy Hart) vs Barry Windham (w/Dusty Rhodes) The match picks up exactly where it was left off when Greg Valentine interfered in the previous match with both Valentine & Windham trading fists. Windham has always been a deceptively fast wrestler for a man his size and Valentine finds that out early and it looks like he could lose his title to another promotion! And indeed, Barry Windham has Greg Valentine down quickly with his flying lariat and makes the cover but while Dusty Rhodes is fighting outside with Bob Orton, Dick Slater (who was eliminated by Windham in the first round) runs in and jumps on Windham! Referee Adrien Desbois calls for the bell at 4:55. Winner: Barry Windham by DQ (4:55); Greg Valentine retains Bob and Johnny sign off, telling the World Wide audience more NWA action next week! He hopes to live up to that as he gets ready for the biggest match of his career against Ric Flair for the NWA World’s Heavyweight Championship.
