Okay guys I have made my decision. The Bockwinkle matches are going up. We will post the Ricky Hunter match tomorrow and the Nacho Barrera match the next day.
-
AWA Nick Bockwinkle matches are: Nick Bockwinkle vs. Ricky Hunter the other is Nick Bockwinkle vs. Nacho Barrera (with Verne Gagne on commentary)

Very happy that you enjoyed the Street/Linda vs Dundee match / and the Pat Rose - Hans Schroeder vs. PYT's tag match! I am also enjoying the mid-card matches almost as much - and sometimes more than the Main Event matches. Of course ANY Gino Hernandez or Jose Lothario match is good. Just posted MAGNUM TA vs. ERNIE LADD! Enjoy! And if you're like a kid at Christmas everytime a match gets released (don't feel bad - because I feel the same way) get ready to enjoy Christmas everyday for the next few YEARS! And to JHawk - thank you so much for your support of the NWA - and yes I am passionate about this brand. I have finally come to the realization (and my family has too) that this something that I am now devoting my life to. I'm an "all in" or nothing kind of guy and with regard to the NWA - rest assured that I am ALL IN. I'm taking this brand as far as I can possibly take it.

This is the type of great stuff that I am working with. I wish we could upload it all at once instead of 30-50 per month - but we do not have a huge staff or a big budget to finance this project.
-
These would be possible boxed sets if we decided to go the BluRay route.

And actually - I can't request specific matches - what I may do is jut start asking for the oldest stuff possible - we have been uploading a lot of Mid South content because it's pretty much ready to go - the older material sometimes takes a little more work / restoration but I will request. As for Ray Stevens - YES he was everything they said about him and more. Back in the day it was legend - believability. You believed in guys like Ray Stevens and Harley Race because they really were tough guys in real life. Not "fake ones" as that term is used by one of our posters. Ray Stevens would have no problem beating the crap out of someone in a bar. Also - in that day and age - a lot of the business was about psychology - facial expressions - story telling. Ray Stevens was one of the best. He was one of the best bump takers in his day - which means that you basically didn't even need to touch him and he would fly all over the ring like you were killing him. That's a lost art in this business today - working as light as a feather but looking like you're killing your opponent. Ray Stevens was like that. He was the kind of wrestler who would get a good match out of bad opponent - just by being a ring general and using psychology. Ray Stevens had the most amazing facial expressions. When he was being choked by an opponent - he would turn his face all red - and he could make his eyes bug out like he was near death. Believeability. Out of a simple chokehold. Ric Flair's move where his opponent shoots him in the corner - he flips over the top rope and lands on the apron? Flair learned that spot from Ray Stevens - and Stevens used to get color while he was flipping over the top rope and heading toward the floor / apron - so when he hit he was bleeding! If you want to see some vintage Ray Stevens - check out "the Wrestler" with Ed Asner. You will see him do his "Bombs Away" kneedrop off the top rope and back in the day - people actually believed he could crush an opponent's throat and kill him. They believed in Ray Stevens back in the day. He was one of the great ones. Sort of a cross between Bockwinkle and Harley. Pat Patterson also learned a great deal from Ray Stevens when they were tag team partners in California. Patterson was a great wrestler - and a lot of what he learned came from Ray Stevens. Ask Ric Flair about Ray Stevens.

Here's what we have catalogued on Nick Bockwinkle - and it should all be there - we just have to find it - transfer the tape to Hi Def - and upload it to the NWAClassics.com Digital Television Network: 1 - Nick Bockwinkle vs. Bruiser Brody / 8-13-79 2 - Nick Bockwinkle vs. Scott Casey / 4-4-81 Scott Casey interview 3 - Nick Bockwinkle vs. Tito Santana / 11-20-81 Tito Santana interview 4 - Nick Bockwinkle vs. Tommy Rich / 3-26-82 Tommy Rich interview 5 - Nick Bockwinkle vs. Dick Slater / 4-16-82 6 - Nick Bockwinkle vs. Junkyard Dog / 5-14-82 7 - Nick Bockwinkle vs. Ricky Morton / 7-02-82 Ricky Morton interview 8 - Nick Bockwinkle vs. Dick Slater / 7-30-82 9 - Nick Bockwinkle vs. Junkyard Dog / 9-24-82 10 - Nick Bockwinkle vs. Scott Casey / 10-01-82 Scott Casey interview 11 - Nick Bockwinkle vs. Tony Atlas / 10-22-82 Tony Atlas interview 12- Bonus Match: Nick Bockwinkle / Ray Stevens vs. Red Bastien / Ken Patera 6-08-74 Ken Patera interview 13 - Junkyard Dog vs. Bockwinkle / Heenan 6-11-82

We actually got two Bockwinkle matches in that were just transferred - but they are from the AWA library. So we aren't sure if we have the rights to upload those matches because they weren't actually produced by Paul and were sent to him from the office in Minneapolis. So we are still looking for more Bockwinkle matches - they are there we just have to find them. Nick is one of my all time favorites along with Jack Brisco.

I love it. We post a BLACK GORDMAN - BUDDY MORENO match and inadvertently disprove one of wrestling's greatest fables - how the DDT was invented! Just another example of how this project has become a true preservation of wrestling history. Not by telling you about the way it was - but showing you the way it was - so you can see it with your own eyes. Andre bodyslammed by Harley way before Hogan ever did. Black Gordman using the DDT way before Jake ever did. Wrestling history - enjoy it!

How Much Bullshit is the PWI 500(full list below)
BruceTharpe replied to dkookypunk43's topic in Pro Wrestling
I will tell you that DAN MURPHY is the guy who does most of the heavy lifting at PWI when it comes to putting together this list. It really is a thankless job - except from the wrestlers whose names make the top half of the list - and I know that he does his best. Dan is an extremely knowledgeable individual and devotes a lot of his free time to the business like we all do. Even though I may not agree with all of the rankings - I would like to acknowledge and thank DAN MURPHY for his hard work in putting this list together. -
There are many reasons why I like pro wrestling - and actually I prefer PRESENTING / PRODUCING pro wrestling more than I like watching it - simply because i enjoy being involved in the creative process - but I always enjoy a good - closely matched - evenly paced contest - that looks believable. I also enjoy entertaining people. Coming up with ideas that SURPRISE the audience - especially smart fans who think they know what's coming. If you are able to make that audience suspend belief - or just want to suspend belief - and for just an instant wonder if what they are seeing might be real - or even partly real - you have succeeded. It's not about winning or losing that we (try to) teach young wrestlers all the time - it's about working together with your opponent - collectively - to come up with a match that is unique - different - and entertaining to the audience. That's the ultimate goal of two wrestlers in a pro match - not to win or lose - but to tell a story together - that the fans invest in emotionally. That's why I like wrestling.

We are working on the audio. And if you noticed we have been uploading many matches with just ambient crowd noise - for a couple of reasons. One - we have been requested to include matches without commentary - so you get that big arena feel. Secondly - we are currently in talks with a major personality to provide voiceovers for most - if not all of the matches that need commentary. IF we can put this deal together it will be huge for the NWA. Agreed that the GINO HERNANDEZ - JOSE LOTHARIO matches are amazing. Lothario's matches against the Guerrero's (with different partners) are all great. And Gino's matches - against anyone - appear to be instant classics. Remember - we have over 1000 matches left to be discovered / transferred / uploaded - and we have TONS of GINO HERNANDEZ - JOSE LOTHARIO matches for you on NWAClassics.com. I am actually anxious to get them all uploaded so we can organize them - but it all takes time and patience. I'm sure you guys would prefer that we continue to add matches to the library - then worry about organization later. Actually - that's going to be the fun part - and you guys are helping out a lot. One last thing. We don't like the word FAKE . . .

Very pleased to report that a high profile NWA match will be aired on AXS on September 18 - the NWA World Junior Heavyweight Title Match between CHASE OWENS and JUSHIN "THUNDER" LIGER that took place last year in Osaka. It's a great match - check it out! Thank you NJPW.
-
I will be returning to Japan in two weeks with STEVE ANTHONY as we defend the NWA World Junior Heavyweight Title against TIGER MASK in Okayama. After easily defeating JUSHIN "THUNDER" LIGER in Las Vegas - we expect no trouble whatsoever from TIGER MASK.
-
Andre in the early days was something amazing to see. I remember the first time I saw in Tampa at the Ft. Homer Hesterly Armory - it must have been 1974. He was amazing as he emerged from the dressing room and waded through that standing room only crowd. It's a memory that I will never forget.

Thanks very much - I will check into this as well.

As I may have mentioned before - the ROKU App has proved to be more costly and complicated than we initially anticipated. I had hoped that we would have been able to develop the App quicker but that has not come to fruition. Now I have learned that development of the App through CLEENG - the payment wall we are using - will now cost us somewhere in the neighborhood of $20,000. I learned this information just this week and the technology being developed is all new and cutting edge. So - in the meantime - until we solve this ROKU App issue - for those of you who really want to see NWAClassics.com on your big screen television - please use Google Chrome. Otherwise you can see the matches perfectly on any iPad - iPhone - Apple or Android device - or laptop / desktop PC. Very sorry for the delay. Again - we could have waited a year to debut the site until the ROKU App was ready but we wanted to get these matches to the fans as quickly as possible. We appreciate your understanding - and please don't wait for the ROKU App - sign up now!

Obviously in a collection this large there are going to be some matches that are better than others. There are certainly a few matches where Paul Boesch's commentary is somewhat lacking - and there are some matches that have technical difficulties. But by and large most of this library is phenomenal in both quality and content. The technical glitches are being cleaned up the best we can before the matches are uploaded. But for the most part we want to preserve wrestling history by releasing these matches as they were originally seen in the ring. Remember - Paul Boesch only televised the bsst matches - and I agree about watching the mid carders! I have seen some great matches from all-too forgotten guys like El Bracero - Pat Rose - Dr. Tom Prichard - Dutch Mantell - Bill Dundee - Lanny Poffo - Barry Orton - and others! We will continue to upload as many matches as we can - on a daily basis. Please remind everyone to support this project and the true preservation of wrestling history by joining NWAClassics.com. Thanks everybody.
-
I plan on uploading the entire library. So out out of 1200-1500 matches you're not going to like every one! Some people may like the JYD - Darsow match / I enjoyed it! At any rate - we are posting an AWESOME MAIN EVENT TAG MATCH Online TODAY on NWAClassics.com: MAGNUM TA and MR. WRESTLING II vs. MIDNIGHT EXPRESS! Enjoy.

Guerrero's vs. Lothario Feud has been great!
