  1. Really loved the Crockett Cup. I must say you gave your Road Warriors one hell of a tough draw. They had to face both the Powers of Pain and Demolition. WOW. Loved that the Midnight Express came out on top. I think the Horsemen coming home to NWA and going down in defeat would have been a huge win for the fans! Nice booking. Garvin vs Slater would have been a great brawl. Dr. Tom gave a great effort. I think you can make the Fuller's HUGE HEELS which would be fun. Quote of the Night was The Olympians being surprised that the NWA would allow CHEATERS into their tournament. Priceless!!! Great job with this years cup. These are always great events as it allows all of us to see what others think of our guys.
  2. Again, I seem to keep falling behind here and I am sorry about that. I enjoyed all of the previews Champagne Slam as each feud was well built up. I like the idea of all the different groups tagging together in these elimination style matches. It allows you keep angles moving on or ending them if you wish. I loved the clean sweep for the fan favorites in the first bout. This sets the tone for the audience and gets them excited right away. Way to build up Vader in his bout. As the last man standing, he is off to a great start to be the big monster in the AWA! I had a feeling Hansen was going to win but wasn't sure. This was one of those matches of two legends and I would expect Dory to see the big picture here and would not be upset by Hansen going over. With Hansen, Vader, Hogan and some other big time names, AWA has main events for the next year lined up if you like. Nikita brawling with Sarge for the Double CO was smart. The fans got to see what they wanted and the angle stays white hot. Really smart. Hogan vs Bam Bam before the intermission... reminded me of some old Madison Square Garden and WWF events. I love this form of booking as it gives the fans a chance to recharge after the big one! I had a feeling Hogan was going over but you gave him some big time credibility with this one. I really like that the AWA has a place for some of the older guys like Armstrong and Dundee. AWA has gone World Wide but still understands some of its smaller markets and its original ties to places like Memphis and Canada. Jumbo vs El Canek... again, had a feeling the champ would come out on top but you have done so much with El Canek that I just wasn't sure. Great title match. Really enjoyed Champagne Slam.... Thanks for all you put into this one. It was a great read.
  3. APRIL 12, 1989 EPISODE #32 WrestleWar Preview Show The War Between WCW and Colonel Debeers! The show opened with a very angry Jerry Jarrett who called out Colonel Debeers. When Debeers finally arrived, Jarrett started by saying that he was sick and tired of Debeers refusing to fight matches that Jarrett has already signed him to be in and that he has done this for the last time. Next, Jarrett simply fires Colonel Debeers for breach of contract. Col. Debeers: Whoa, Whoa… What are you talking about Jarrett? Jerry Jarrett: I told you last time after the nonsense you pulled at Clash of Champions: where you refused to wrestle somebody because you didn’t like the look of your opponent or the look of the referee that if you did it again, you would be fired… and it happened again at the Ragin Cajun event this past week in the Superdome! You are fired! The crowd goes wild Col. Debeers: I think you better rethink your plan there Mr. Jarrett… that is unless you want me to own WCW after I sue the pants off you. Jerry Jarrett: Go ahead… you have no grounds to stand on. You signed the contract to wrestle Hacksaw Butch Reed, Ron Simmons, and Tony Atlas in the Superdome and you, all on your own, decided to substitute Mr. Saito, a wrestler not even in the WCW to wrestle in your place. You are done here! Col. Debeers: (taking out two pieces of paper) Be careful Jarrett… Be very careful. First, I have the original contract for the match in the Superdome. It says, the members of the Anti-American Coalition will wrestle Reed, Simmons and Atlas. Jerry Jarrett: Exactly. Colonel Debeers: Read this! (Debeers hands the other paper to Jarrett) Jarrett reads the paper in silence and you can just see the smoke coming from his ears. Col. Debeers: Ahhh… I see that you have lost your voice Mr. Jarrett. I will just let everyone know that the paper you are holding is a legal contract that Mr. Saito has signed to become a member of the Anti-American Coalition and it is dated April 1, 1989… one day prior to Clash of Champions in the Superdome. So… you see, I did follow the original contract as it was the Anti-American Coalition fighting against your “wrestlers.” Jarrett is so angry he simple walks off while Debeers just laughs as he seems to still be employed here at WCW. After a commercial break, Jarrett comes back and while he is frustrated that Debeers has won this round, he does have a solution… At WrestleWar, as part of “The Crowning,” it will be Colonel Debeers vs “Mr. USA” Tony Atlas. Jarrett makes sure that he shows both Jim Ross and Tony Schiavone that the contract clearly states Col. Debeers and not a random member of the Anti-American Coalition. Debeers comes rushing out and is fuming… screaming about how he is being treated unfairly and that Jarrett has no right putting him the ring against someone of the likes of Atlas! Jarrett is smiling from ear to ear as he simply walks off while Debeers continues to scream and shout. Jim Ross tells Tony Schiavone that it might just be Jerry Jarrett who got the last laugh. Update on the Crowning The Crowning is the 8-Man Single Elimination Tournament to be held as part of WrestleWar next week at the Mid-South Coliseum where the winner gets a future WCW World Title Match at the event of their choosing. We already know that Jarrett has just added Col. Debeers and Tony Atlas to the event and after Clash of Champions, we know that two more of the entrants will be Sting and Terry Funk. Jerry Jarrett also informed us that the tournament will also include the other two WCW singles title holders, the United States Champion Lex Luger and the WCW World Television Champion “Hot Stuff” Eddie Gilbert. Jarrett explained that both the United States Title and the Television Title will be on the line in only the first match that involved Luger or Gilbert. The last two entrants were determined by two big matches on TV this week: Hacksaw Butch Reed defeated “The Hustler” Rip Rogers with a top rope shoulder block. Interesting thing here was the Rogers was all by himself as it appears Terri Powers has had enough of his nonsense and left him. Physco Sid with Sir Oliver Humperdink beat Brad Armstrong with a powerbomb. Sid was even more viscous and uncontrollable then when he was Lord Humongous. Humperdink explained that the reason Sid wore the hockey mask was to calm him down and protect the other wrestlers in WCW from being broken in half. He reminds everyone to blame Lex Luger when Sid starts ending careers. Update on the Women’s Division We saw Wendy Richter completely turn heel at Clash of Champions as she tripped Madusa Miceli to help Magnificent Mimi get the win. The two were out at the podium gloating about how great it was to see Madusa’s face when the embraced after the match and how stupid Madusa was to think that Wendy would ever be on her side. This brought out Madusa who admitted that she was pretty dumb to ever think that Wendy Richter had an ounce of class in her. Richter and Mimi start to close in on her… they start to shove her… Madusa warns them not to do that. Richter asks, “What are you going to do about it,” and smacks her across the face. Mimi laughs but only for a second! From out of nowhere, Terri Powers comes in like a whirlwind. He power is on full display. If Mimi ever thought she was strong, she better think twice about it. After Madusa and Terri leave the two laying on the ground, Madusa goes to the mic and says, “this is only the beginning as Jerry Jarrett has added me and Terri against you two over-rated wrestlers at WrestleWar! Interviews with Ted Dibiase and The Horsemen Dibiase, who lost his WCW World Title match against Ric Flair last week at Clash of Champions due to interference by Tully Blanchard and Arn Anderson said that he has lost all respect for Ric Flair who is just a paper champion as he can never do anything on his own. Later in the show, Flair, Anderson, and Blanchard came to the podium after Arn and Tully had a match against two jobbers who they clinically took apart. Flair went off on Dibiase talking about how the cream always rises to the top and that he told everyone that he would still be the champion after the Clash of Champions. Arn and Tully both let everyone know that there has never been another group in wrestling as the Horseman as that hold both the WCW World singles title and the WCW World Tag Team titles. Dibiase comes back to the podium but this time, he brings his old tag team partner, Dr. Death Steve Williams. Ross and Schiavone ask for peace but Dibiase can’t guarantee it as Flair always seems ready to fight when he has a numbers advantage while he runs like a yellow-bellied coward when he doesn’t. Flair says Dibiase is just a sore loser and if he isn’t careful, he will get another beating just like the other night. Dibiase explains that he should have known that Tully and Arn would come to Flair’s rescue but then he asks them if Flair as ever come to their rescue? Tully and Arn have a quizzical look before telling Dibase to stop playing his stupid mind games. Dibiase goes on to say that while it is obvious they have not wised-up but he has, so at WrestleWar, he and Dr. Death will challenge for the WCW World Tag Team Titles because they know it will be a fair fight as Flair won’t come to help them! Both Arn and Tully wonder what Dibiase is talking about as they don’t have a match scheduled against Dibiase and Williams. Dr. Death steps in to remind them that they have never had their rematch from when they were champions and they are cashing in now. Arn and Tully complain but Jerry Jarrett comes out and tells the Horsemen, that by WCW rule, former champions are allowed a rematch and WrestleWar seems like the perfect place to have it! The Horsemen complain but to no avail. Dibiase walks off reminding Tully and Arn exactly what he said before. “I guarantee you two that Ric Flair will not be by yourside when we are beating you all over the ring! Think about it. You two are being used!” Tony Schiavone and Jim Ross wonder if Dibiase has a point! WCW WORLD TITLE MATCH UPDATE: We all know that Ric Flair will have his toughest test yet as he tries to defend his title against Jerry “The King” Lawler in the Mid-South Coliseum. Now we don’t get anything physical between these two this week but we get a great segment with Flair back out at the podium. He seems to have moved on from Dibiase and now has his sights set on “Mr. Memphis.” Flair let everyone know that even Jerry Lawler knows this is the end of his career as he is not even close to “The Nature Boy’s” level. When Jim Ross tells him he thinks that Lawler knows nothing of the kind, Flair explains that Lawler has already moved on to his future job. Tony Schiavone: Come on Ric… you know that’s not true. Ric Flair: Well take a look at this… (Flair asks everyone to look at the video tape he found of Jerry Lawler becoming a fast food cook. Flair, laughing, says it already looks like Fat Jerry Lawler has been eating all the profits. Later in the show, Lawler comes out and is actually laughing at how stupid Ric Flair is but he promises a big barbeque down at Corky’s on Biele Street after he takes the title from the “big mouth” Ric Flair. Lawler also goes on to say that he has already invited Woman, Flair’s manager, as he knows she wants to be with a real winner. Jake “The Snake”, Magnificent Muraco/ Roddy Piper situation Snake and Muraco both had easy wins on TV this week and after Muraco beat Allen Tabbs, he and Snake went to the podium for an interview. They both complained about all the dirty tactics used by Jerry Lawler and Roddy Piper in their steel cage match at the Clash of Champions! Roddy Piper, comes out gloating in his arrogant way which the fans have grown to love. Jake Roberts claimed it was a fluke and challenges Piper to another match at WrestleWar! Piper laughs at Snake and reminds him that his partner, Jerry Lawler is already in a match that night but he will wrestle both he and Muraco in another match but he is getting tired of wasting his time so they need to make it worth his while. Muraco jumps in with a big grin on his face. Don Muraco: So you want to make it worth your while? I know Snake and I can beat you and anyone partner you can find. So why don’t we play for something serious! Why don’t we all put our contracts on the line. Loser-Leave Town Match. You pick the type of match you want! Roddy Piper: Now I like the sounds of that! I get to pick anyone I want and when I win, you two will leave WCW. Now, I’ve already beaten you in a steel cage match so that would be too easy. I’ve beaten you in a regular match… again too easy. Ahhh… Okay… Not that you two will have any chance in any match, so I might as well enjoy myself. NO HOLDS BARRED, STREET FIGHT! Losers Leave WCW! 4. Welcome back!
  5. Great test for Garvin. Prichard does seem a little weakened... Can he survive? Really looking forward to the Cup
  6. No, Lowblow, feel free to use who is on your roster. They are part of the game now and we will not include them in the 1990 draft.
  7. PRESENTS APRIL 2, 1989 LOUISIANA SUPERDOME NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA Intergender Match “The Hustler” Rip Rogers & Terri Powers vs Jeff Jarrett & Miss. Tennessee As we get this major card underway, the ring announcer informs us that in this intergender match, the men may wrestle the women and the women may wrestle the men. The Hustler really tries to antagonize the fans on the way to the ring but Jim Ross and Tony Schiavone both notice the Terri is more subdued. JJ and Miss. Tennessee come out to a huge ovation, and they try to ingratiate themselves to the fans even more as they do some High-Fiving with everyone on the way to the ring. Interesting thing here was that JJ was in the ring to start but Rogers refused to start the match and instead sent in Terri. JJ, being the true man, tagged in Miss. Tennessee and the match was underway. As we saw in the Arm-Wrestling Challenge, Terri holds the strength advantage and quickly took control. After Miss. Tennessee had been nailed with a few bodyslams, Rip started screaming to tag him in. Terri gave him a dirty look but allowed him in. Interesting thing here was that Miss. Tennessee was waiting for him and got in a few blows of her own before she tagged in JJ. Jeff went to work and really had the Hustler in trouble. Problem was that as he whipped Rogers into the ropes, Rip reached out and tagged in a surprised Terri. Again, JJ does the right thing and tags in Miss. Tennessee. This time it is Miss. T who gets the upper-hand and has Terri in trouble. Somehow, she manages to get away from the fiery female but Rip jumps off the apron and pretends to adjust his knee pad. Terri has no choice but to keep fighting. Somehow, she manages a comeback and nails Miss. Tennessee with a superplex!! Miss. T is in some serious trouble. Terri backs into the corner and it appears that she is going in for a flying elbow and a pin attempt. TAG….Rip reached over a tagged himself in. You can tell by the look on Terri’s face that she is fuming. Rip whips Miss. Tennessee into the corner and lifts her to the top rope. It looks like he is going for a Ripperplex (superplex) himself. Jim Ross notes that this would surely be the end. He has her hooked in… WHAM… from behind, Terri nails her own partner with a lowblow. Rip is down. In an amazing feat of strength, Terri has Miss. Tennessee up for a Military Press Slam and drops her right on Rip. Referee Pee Wee Anderson quickly makes the cover as Terri helped Miss. Tennessee and JJ get the win. Winner Gets Entry Into “The Crowning” at WrestleWar Sting vs Dick Murdoch In a very physical match, we eventually see Sting connect with the Stinger Splash for the win over Dick Murdoch. WCW World Television Title Match “Hot Stuff” Eddie Gilbert vs “Hollywood” John Tatum Whose Corner Missy Hyatt is in is To Be Determined Most interesting thing here was that Missy Hyatt was a No-Show. Everyone was waiting to see which of her wrestlers that she would support but it turned out to be neither. As for the match, it turned out to be a brawl as each seemed to blame the other for losing their girl. In the end, we see Hollywood John Tatum pull out a pair of brass knuckles only to have ref Teddy Long grab his hand before he connected with the attack. This little distraction allowed Gilbert to hit the Hot Shot for the win. Gilbert was not satisfied with the win and took the brass knuckles and bloodied Tatum. The crowd was somewhat happy as Tatum got what he deserved but they would have preferred both men to have been bloodied as they are not in love with either. Winner Gets Entry Into “The Crowning” at WrestleWar “Dr. Death” Steve Williams vs Terry Funk This match had wrestlers with some very different styles. Dr. Death wanted to showcase his college skills and power while Funk would do whatever dirty deeds it took to win. In the end, Terry whipped Dr. Death into referee Teddy Long. Now with no ref in control, Dick Murdoch rushed out and nailed Dr. Death with a Brainbuster. Next Funk connected with a piledriver as Murdoch helped Teddy Long into the ring to make the 3-count. Our first two entrants into “The Crowning” are set… Sting and Terry Funk. Women’s Match Madusa Miceli vs “Magnificent” Mimi One of the highlights of the match was just the entrance of these two ladies. Madusa came running out in a black and white leopard print showing a lot of skin. This quickly got the men interested but them Mimi came strutting out, sporting sunglasses and a tight pink singlet that turned the men’s heads the other way. Mimi and Madusa met in the center of the ring for a stare down that would have any boxing promoter jealous. As for the match… let’s just say that women’s wrestling is moving up the ladder. These two women were not only technically sound but they were able to perform a pretty diverse repertoire of moves because of their power and athleticism. Spinning heel kicks to Hurricanranas to snap suplexes, this match had it all. With each woman wanting to prove that they were the top dog, they never gave an inch and the momentum changes came fast and furious. About 5 minutes into the match, Wendy Richter came out and sat ringside. She was pretty quiet at first but then when Mimi had the advantage, Richter got up and starting encouraging Madusa to fight back. Jim Ross explained that Wendy has been right here alongside Madusa as the women’s division in WCW has been getting better and better. Ross goes on to say that Richter and Madusa may have had their battles but neither one wants a newcomer coming in and going straight to the top… Mimi must pay her dues. It seems like Richter’s encouragement has helped Madusa as she regains the momentum. A huge spinning heel kick followed up a few body slams and Mimi is in trouble. Wendy Richter is cheering on Madusa as are the fans. Mimi rolls out of the ring to try and take some time to catch her breath but Wendy won’t allow it. She pushes her right back to the apron where Mimi stands on the outside of the ring. Madusa shoves past ref Pee Wee Anderson and grabs Mimi. She is going to suplex her back in the ring. Madusa lifts Mimi… Wait… what has happened… Mimi crashes down on Madusa and the ref makes the 3-count. Mimi has won! Wendy Richter rushes into the ring and starts kicking on Madusa. The crowd is shocked as Wendy and Mimi celebrate in the middle of the ring as Madusa lays on the mat. It was only after the replay is shown that we see Richter grab the ankles of Madusa causing her to fall backwards with Mimi on top of her. Jim Ross and Tony Schiavone are shocked! Grudge Match The Anti-American Coalition (Debeers, Iron Sheik & Russian Assassin) vs Hacksaw Reed, Ron Simmons and “Mr. USA” Tony Atlas With Reed, Simmons, Atlas already in the ring, the announcer announces The Anti-American Coalition, Col. Debeers, Iron Sheik and the Russian Assassin. Debeers goes right to the ring announcer and informs him that as he has already said on numerous occasions, he will not wrestle the likes of the inferior, steroid abusers who are currently in the ring but, as the leader of the AAC, he has found a new member for his group… suddenly Mr. Saito walks out and Jim Ross and Tony Schiavone put him over as one of the toughest men in all of wrestling. Ross goes on to tell the story of his arrest where he beat up numerous police men and spent time in jail. The fan favorites are not happy as once again Debeers has gotten away without having to wrestle them. As for the match, brawl from the get-go! The end saw the action spill outside and all 6 men were going toe to toe. Debeers took this opportunity and cracked Tony Atlas with a steel chair resulting in the DQ win for the babyfaces. Problem was that it was 4 on 3 and the AAC might have gotten the best of the after-match brawl. WCW United States Title Match The Freebirds (Hayes & Garvin) vs The Rock n Roll Express One thing for sure… these two teams are the most popular in WCW. Another thing for sure is that their styles are completely different. The Rock n Roll Express like to use technical skills and speed while the Freebirds, unlike many babyfaces, like to come out on top by “bending” every rule in the book. In this match, the end comes after a Jimmy Garvin brainbuster on Robert Gibson. Somehow Gibson got his leg across the bottom rope, but the ref missed it. The Rock n Roll Express were not happy with the outcome but there was nothing they could do about it. Steel Cage Match Roddy Piper & Jerry “The King” Lawler vs Magnificent Muraco & Jake “The Snake” Roberts This one is a violent, bloody slugfest from beginning to end where we saw Lawler connect with a Piledriver on Muraco for the win! WCW United States Title Match “The Total Package” Lex Luger © vs Lord Humongous with Oliver Humperdink These two went toe-toe with each other for a good 12-minutes with one power move after another. Both men seemed to forget the title was on the line as just wanted to prove to everyone who the top big man in WCW was. In the end, we see the action spill out onto the floor. The battle raged on as neither made an attempt to get back in the ring which resulted in a double-count-out. The sound of the bell mean nothing to these two… they pounded away on each just like at Miami Mayhem. Eventually, we see Luger press slam Lord Humongous across the steel girder that surrounded the arena. The sound was a sickening THUD that actually saw Lord Humongous’ hockey mask come flying off. This is our first time seeing the face of Lord Humongous who, as we will later find out is Sid Eudy. At this point in time, the name means nothing but what happens next, will long be remembered. Sid, after hitting the steel girder turns psycho! He is like a man possessed as he literally no-sells the press slam and gets up and … the brawl is back on. Eventually referees and WCW officials rush in and stop the melee. WCW World Title Match “Nature Boy” Ric Flair © with Woman vs “The Million Dollar Man” Ted Dibiase We all know that these two are awesome in the ring so lets just get to the finish. Tully Blanchard and Arn Anderson rush out and do their best to keep the belt on Flair. In the end, we see Tully crack Dibiase in the back which allowed Flair to roll up Dibiase for the pin attempt. Arn, who had distracted ref Teddy Long, was now screaming at Long to do his job. Long slid back over and began his count. Flair put his legs on the second rope for added leverage and then grabbed the trunks to make sure Dibiase wasn’t going anywhere and Long made the 3-count. As soon as the match was over, Arn and Tully jumped in and went to work on Dibiase… The 3-1 attack did not last long as Dr. Death rushed to the aid of his tag team partner. Dr. Death looked like his old self again and was able to clear the ring all by himself. Dibiase and Dr. Death didn’t care how many Horsemen were out on the floor as the dared them all to come back in but the Horsemen got what they wanted… Flair leaving with his title around his waist… so they all headed back. As the show was closing, Tony Schiavone and Jim Ross reminded everyone that Wrestlewar was only two weeks away in the Mid-South Coliseum and it will be Ric Flair taking on Jerry “The King” Lawler.
  8. Free Agency is currently closed
  9. WCW adds Jake Roberts, Terry Funk, Dick Murdoch, Sam Houston, Kendall Windham, Tony Atlas, Curtis Hughes, Tim Horner, Abdullah the Butcher, and Jim Powers to the block.
  10. Really enjoyed all the match details. That is something I really struggle at. Also really liked the rankings with the records. This adds some level of realism to all of this. Also the videos you add really give me a glimpse of what went on in Japan. So technical and real. I did not see 100 false finishes per match like here. I wonder if this would have worked in the US?
  11. Really enjoyed reading all the events heading into Champagne Slam. I think Dory Funk vs Hansen would be a great match. Two legends with such different styles.... but hard to tell which one has been the bigger heel or babyface throughout their careers. Also, for me, anything Larry Z is involved in is great. Looking forward to where you go with him and Iceman. Also, Sarge vs Nikita is a hot feud. Again, looking forward to see who you put over. I said it before but I think Bam Bam is a great way to build up Hogan! Not sure if you value him as much as I do but I think Orndorff as your #2 man and a possible feud with Hogan down the road would be interesting. Great job. I love feuds where I don't know who will come out on top and you have so many of those right now. Makes reading about the AWA so much fun.
  12. EPISODE #30 MARCH 30, 1989 Last Show Before Clash of Champions: Ragin Cajuns 1. Moment of the Night: Ric Flair-Ted Dibiase Situation. After last week’s violent attack by Ric Flair on Ted Dibiase where he basically gave Dibiase such a mat burn across his face that all of the skin on the right side of Dibiase’s face is missing, Flair came out to the interview area this week full of confidence. In fact, he was so confident, he brought two of the gorgeous ladies he had been partying with all night to the interview with him. Jim Ross: Well Ric, looking at you right now, some may wonder if your as focused as you need to be going into Clash of Champions in the Superdome. Ric Flair: I told you last week that I could beat Dibiase every day of the week and twice on Sunday but if my word isn’t good enough for ya, just show everyone what I did to Dibiase right here on TV last week and you’ll see why I have time to party. (The video of the attack on Dibiase is replayed for everyone and when we come back live, Flair has a beautiful women on each arm, smiling as they know they are with the Man!) Ric Flair: Check it out Jim! Check it out Tony! Never in your life could you imagine how great it would be to be me! Hey now… come on Tony… don’t be peeking! I mean you’re married! Now why are these beautiful women with me today? I mean everyone already knows Ric Flair lives a life of luxury… I mean I am so on top of the world that guys like Joe Namath are straining their necks looking up at me. Now the point remains … what I did to Ted Dibiase last week on this tv show … (Flair pulls out a picture with Dibiase’s face all messed up) Tony Schiavone: You’re not proud of yourself Ric, are you? I mean you attacked him from behind. Ric Flair: Oh I’m real proud of myself. I mean Dibiase spent the week hiding from the people as he’s got a face that will scare young children and I’m jet flying, limousine riding with supermodels. Come on girls… tell everyone who is #1… who is the best man in the world? Two girls: Nature Boy. Ric Flair: Ok girls, (holding up the picture of Dibiase) where do you figure a loser like this figures into my plans. WHAM… from out of nowhere… Dibiase attacks Flair. He throws him right into the ring and is all over him like white on rice! Dibiase rips the expensive dress shirt off the champion and then throws in some elbows, punches and kicks. Knee drops, bulldogs, dropkicks… move after move and Dibiase is doing whatever he wants. Flair tries to run away but Dibiase grabs him from behind. As Flair is trying to pull away, his dress pants rip and Dibiase pulls them right off of him, Flair is now in his underwear as Dibiase continues to attack. Finally for Flair’s sake, Tully and Arn rush to his aid. Dibiase knows the damage has been done and exits the opposite side of the ring before the Horsemen can get to him. The crowd is going wild as Flair is rolling around in his boxers. The microphone catches Dibiase letting Flair know that “we’re not close to being even yet!” Flair comes back to the interview area and he is as angry as anyone you’ve ever seen! Ric Flair (in his boxers with the two gorgeous ladies now chuckling): You think you can do this to me! You think you can do this on TV! You know who I am Dibiase… HUH… You know who I am! This won’t go unpunished! DIBIASE… DIBIASE… With Flair basically going into a rage, Jim Ross let’s everyone know to get their tickets to the Superdome as this just might be the best match WCW has ever seen! With Flair still going bezerk, Schiavone takes us to break. 2. Match of the Night: Sting & Dr. Death vs The Texas Outlaws (Terry Funk & Dick Murdoch) This match is another preview to Clash of Champions as Sting will take on “Captain Redneck” Dick Murdoch and Dr. Death Steve Williams will face Terry Funk. The winners of both matches will earn an entry into “The Crowning,” the 8-Man Single Elimination Tournament at WrestleWar where the winner earns a future world title shot. In this exciting TV match, each man gets a little time to shine but WCW didn’t want to give too much away so as Sting started to get an advantage on Murdoch, Terry Funk rushed in with the branding iron and nailed Sting in the back resulting in the automatic DQ. We get another 30-seconds of a brawl before heading to break… just enough time for Ross and Schiavone to hype up Clash of Champions. 3. The Arm-Wrestling Match: Miss. Tennessee vs Terri Powers Miss. Tennessee had originally challenged “The Hustler” Rip Ropers but Rogers finally found “morals” and decided it wasn’t right for a man to fight a woman. So, Rogers decided to send in his “valet” to do the dirty work. Now there is no denying that the powerful Powers is a qualified challenger, she was not happy last week as she felt that her man had thrown her under the bus. As for the match, Rogers accompanied Terri and Jeff Jarrett accompanied Miss Tennessee. Rogers was fuming about Jarrett being there and said that he had no right to be at the match. Jarrett, calmly said that he had as much right to be there as Rogers did as it was Terri Powers who was his valet and not vice-versa. Miss Tennessee grabbed the mic and gave everyone a good laugh when she questioned JJ and said the Rogers looked more like a valet than Terri! Rogers was fuming and actually kicked the table. As both women got set for the test of strength, we get a little flexing. While Miss Tennessee is well built, Terri looks like a brick house! Referee Pee Wee Anderson eventually gets both women to lock hands and the bout begins. Back and forth it goes. Both women look on the verge of winning only to have the other get it back to even. While Terri might be more powerful, Miss. Tennessee might have the endurance advantage. Terri’s arm begins to move toward the table. The crowd is going wild. Closer and closer we get to a Miss. Tennessee victory. WHAM…Rogers shoves JJ right into Miss. Tennessee. She falls off to the side. WHAM … Terri recovers and slams Miss. Tennessee’s arm to the table for the victory. Rip is jumping up and down like he just saved the day. Miss. Tennessee is fuming and goes after The Hustler. So does JJ, but somehow the Hustler avoids them both and heads back to the locker room. The victor, Terri, doesn’t seem too excited by her victory and just shakes her head and leaves the ring. Later in the show, we here that JJ asked for an intergender match between himself and Miss. Tennessee against Rip Rogers and Terri Powers and his father, Jerry Jarrett quickly granted the match and added it to the card at Clash of Champions. 4. Magnificent Muraco & Jake “The Snake” Roberts- Roddy Piper Situation Last week, Piper had mouthed off about being able to take out both Muraco and Snake all by himself. While Piper’s confidence can be commended, his big mouth got him in some trouble last week as he took a pretty good beating. This week, Muraco and Snake were out gloating about what they did to Piper when Piper appeared at the interview area. Both Jim Ross and Tony Schiavone asked for cooler-heads to prevail as this was not the place. Roddy Piper: Don’t worry … Old Hot Rod has learned his lesson. I might not be as good as I once was but I’m a whole lot smarter. While I still think I can take Dumb and Dumber here but why work so hard. Snake: I think you hit you’re head too hard last week. You come out here alone after we kicked your rear-end all over the ring last week and you think it’s time to insult us! Roddy Piper: Oh contrare Mr. Dumber… I have not come out here to insult you. I’ve come out here to challenge you two, to the most brutal match that there is. A steel cage match… at Clash of Champions. Don Muraco: You really are the dumb one Piper but we except… We’ve had fun toying with you last week. But now, we are going to hurt you. You have the nerve to come out here and challenge the two of us to a 2-1 Steel Cage Match! Roddy Piper: I don’t think you two morons paid any attention. I said I learned my lesson. This won’t be a 2-1 Steel Cage Match. Please, show some manners and welcome my partner… Jerry “The King” Lawler! Lawler walks out and Muraco and Snake are in shock. We get a few good one-liners from Lawler as Muraco and Snake look afraid! Ross and Schiavone just continue to hype up Clash of Champions as we get a promo running down the card. 5. So who will Missy Hyatt choose? Last week we saw the match for the WCW World Television Title get set as Hot Stuff Eddie Gilbert will take on Hollywood John Tatum. It seems like Eddie Gilbert is jealous of Tatum’s relationship with Missy Hyatt and wants to destroy him in the ring and put an end to his membership in Hot Stuff Inc. Tatum has no problem taking both the title and woman and kicking Gilbert out of Hyatt International. While we know the match is set, we still had no idea where Missy Hyatt’s loyalty is. We hoped to get some answers this week but she was a no-show for both Tatum and Gilbert’s easy wins over jobbers this week. It will be interesting to see if she comes to Clash of Champions and if she does, whose side she will be on. 6. Madusa’s answer to Magnificent Mimi’s challenge. Last week, by video, someone WCW had never heard of, Magnificent Mimi, let Madusa know that she is better in every way. She is stronger than Madusa. She is faster than Madusa. She is a better wrestler than Madusa and what seemed to be the most important, she is more beautiful than Madusa. At the end of the video where she destroyed everything in her path, she challenged Madusa to a match at Clash of Champions. This week, we got Madusa’s answer. Madusa: Jim Ross, I’ve been in WCW for the better part of a year. I’ve been putting in the work. I’ve been putting in the time. I’ve taken on the biggest names in the sport. I’ve beaten Wendy Richter. I’ve beaten the monster from Japan, Bull Nakano. Now, out of nowhere, this lady we’ve never heard of, challenges me to a match at one of the biggest nights of the year in WCW… Clash of Champions? I mean, does she deserve it? NO! Should I give her the match? NO… but I have no problem accepting the challenge. I will enjoy showing her what big-time wrestling is all about. I will enjoy beating her to show her that she doesn’t belong in WCW. And most of all… I will beat her to show here that I am a wrestler… and she is only a model! 7. The Anti-American Coalition (Debeers, Iron Sheik, Russian Assassin) -Reed, Simmons, Atlas situation There is no denying the heat Debeers has brought since his arrival in WCW. Ron Simmons, Hacksaw Reed and Tony Atlas have tried on multiple occasions to put him in his place but Debeers has always found a way to slither his way out of trouble. Now Debeers has friends who join in his hatred for America. This match will have the fans on the edge of their seats. This week, we get a few fiery promos but again, Debeers steals the show as his anger as to why he must wrestle people like Atlas, people like Simmons and people like Reed, he finds totally disgusting. Jim Ross and Tony Schiavone hope that Debeers finally gets what he deserves. 8. WCW United State Tag Team Title Match In an interesting turn of events, The Rock n Roll Express will face The Freebirds for the U.S. Title at Clash of Champions. This all happened last week in a debate between the two teams on who was the most popular tag team in WCW. The Freebirds claimed it was them because they had the gold around their waist. The Express said that if all it took to be the most popular team was to be the champs, then they should just take the titles from the Freebirds. The challenge was accepted. This week, both teams won easy matches and then joined each other for a promo. At the promo, they both kind of went back and forth with a war of words joking each other about who was not only more popular but who was better. They all seem to be friends… for now. 9. WCW United States Title Match: “The Total Package” Lex Luger vs Lord Humongous This is going to be a WAR! Oliver Humperdink was almost giddy with excitement about how his man would soon be champion. Luger, in his promo, seemed ready for the challenge even though Jim Ross kept reminding him that nobody has slowed Humongous since he arrived in WCW. The show ended with a tune-up match for Lex Luger where he had The Cuban Assassin locked in the Torture Rack. Humongous came out to ringside with Humperdink. Luger tossed The Assassin to the floor and challenged Humongous to come on in the ring. Humperdink got between his man and the apron… begging him to wait till Clash of Champions. Lord Humongous shoved his manager aside… climbed up on the apron and stepped right over the top rope! WHAM…WHAM… WHAM… The brawl was on. Luger and Humongous were in the center of the ring trading blows as Tony Schiavone signed off for the week. Clash of Champions: April 2, 1989: Louisiana Superdome
  13. WCW adds Wendy Richter
  14. I am really enjoying the dirt sheets format. Even as his career is winding down, I love to see Valiant vs Paul Jones and his Army. This is a great way to keep so many wrestlers relevant without having to have a title in the angle. Nice booking.... and where is Shaska? Looking forward to the Crockett Cup. It is always one of the best events of the year in Dawn of War. Garvin vs Slater is a perfect match for the Carolina territory. Can't wait to see which direction you go.
  15. Awesome show! You put so much work into this and it really shows. I liked how so many of the matches had clear winners with somebody going over the over. I am interested in seeing what is going on with Sherri. Also loved the way the hair match ended. Nice way to get us to the rooster. Bossman vs Savage... Very interesting.
  16. Sorry for falling so far behind here. Awesome build up to Wrestlemania. I loved reading about Andre shoving the money in Fuji's mouth... great visual. Your promos with Savage and Warrior have been awesome! Can't wait to see where you go with some off your big matches. It will tell a lot about which way you are going with the WWF. You have so many choices with the roster you've built up.
  17. I did remove Sunshine from your roster but we do not use any retirement dates for managers. Many of the managers in use now are retired wrestlers.
  18. 1. Updates to Clash of Champions: Ragin Cajun on April 2nd at the Louisiana Superdome We already know that Ric Flair will be defending his WCW World Title against Ted Dibiase and this week, Jerry Jarret opened the show by announcing a second match for the Superdome… a huge grudge match between Ron Simmons, Tony Atlas and Hacksaw Butch Reed against the Anti-American Coalition (Colonel Debeers, The Iron Sheik and the Russian Assassi). The AAC rushed out with Debeers leading the complaints again how he refuses the wrestle people who are obviously inferior to him and who stoop to such levels of steroid use just to make it look like they are in his class. Jarrett would have none of it and said that if Debeers wanted a job after April 2nd, the Anti-American Coalition would face Simmons, Atlas and Reed in the Superdome. As for the Iron Sheik and The Russian Assassin, they both seemed more eager for the bout as they vowed to defeat the weak Americans and prove just how inferior they were. Atlas, Reed and Simmons couldn’t wait for the match and what they were going to do to Debeers after all that he has said and done! 2. Moment of the Night: Ric Flair-Ted Dibiase Situation. We all know that it will be Flair vs Dibiase in the Superdome and whoever comes out with the title will face Jerry Lawler two weeks later in the Mid-South Coliseum. Well this week, Flair was out screaming about how Dibiase could never match up against the greatest that there is, was or ever will be. Dibiase came out and confronted Flair and challenged him to a match right there on TV. Flair was so fired up that he quickly accepted. Dibiase headed to the ring… WHAM… from behind Flair attacked Dibiase and Dibiase went down kind of hard. Flair dragged him up by his hair and tossed him into the ring. Flair was like a caged animal. He jumped on top of Dibiase and started rubbing his face all across the mat. Flair then tossed Dibiase to the floor and again jumped on his back and now he started raking Dibiase’s face across the cement floor. The camera picked up Dibias’s face which appeared to have second degree burns all across the left side of his face. The crowd was stunned at the violence of the champion. Eventually, it was Jerry Lawler who rushed out to the rescue and shoved Flair off of Dibiase. It seemed like Lawler knew better and just cautiously aided the Million Dollar Man. Flair went back to the podium and gave a promo full of screaming and spitting about how this was only the beginning of what he was going to do to Dibiase. Much later in the show, Dibiase, with a towel covering his face, came out and did some screaming of his own about what kind of a man it takes to attack someone from behind and that tonight is just the beginning, and the end will come in the Superdome when he takes Flair’s title. 3. Lex Luger might be in for t he fight of his life! Jerry Jarrett came out again in the second hour of the tv show as Lex Luger had just defeated Ron Bass and was with Tony Schiavone and Jim Ross. Jarrett informed Luger that he would be defending his WCW United Stated Title at Clash of Champions against none other than Lord Humongous. Jarrett pointed out that Lord Humongous is undefeated since arriving in WCW and then he went on to remind everyone just how impressive Lord Humongous was in the Mayhem Match in Miami. Jim Ross chimed in by reminding Lex that it was Lord Humongous that went toe to toe with him for over 15 minutes in that match. Luger responded just as you would expect from a leading babyface… He was going to give it 110% and make all the WCW fans proud of him for being a fighting champion. Later in the show, Lord Humongous destroyed another jobber and Oliver Humperdink told Jim Ross that it was about time his man was given a title match and that Lex Luger better start enjoying his last days as champion. 4. So who is the most popular tag team in WCW and will they be the champs? The Rock n Roll Express wowed that fans once again and had the girls eating out of the palms of their hands in a victory over Dr. Diobolico and The Cuban Assassin. After the double dropkick landed squarely on the jaw of The Assassin and the ref made the 3-count, The Rock n Roll Express headed over to the podium. Jim Ross asked Ricky Morton what it must be like to be the most popular tag team in WCW and have the fans screaming their heads off for them. Morton just smiled and shook his head up and down. Suddenly, the fans cheered even louder as Michael Hayes, Jimmy Garvin and Precious came out. The Freebirds and The Expressed high-fived each other as Michael Hayes started to speak… Michael Hayes: Hey, Hey Hey… Jim Ross… are you forgotten something… Women love gold!!! I know that Ricky and Robert here get a lot of love when they come to the ring each time but I think those cheers aren’t quite as loud as when the Fabulous Freebirds come to the ring. I mean Mr. Sexy Michael and Jimmy Jam come to town and momma’s lock their baby girls up because they know they can’t control themselves around the gold. Now, take nothing away from the Rock n Roll Express but … Suddenly… Ricky Morton takes the mic… Ricky Morton: So if all your saying Michael is that you are more popular just because you are champions, how about we do something about that and the Express takes those titles from you at Clash of Champions. Jimmy Garvin: Now, now boys… let’s not do anything that’s going to get you all little guys hurt. I mean we are all friends. Robert Gibson: I think we are willing to take that risk. It seems like you two are the ones hesitating. Michael Hayes: No hesitation here. We will see you in the Superdome… but just remember that if you want these titles you are going to have to walk down Bad Street and face the music… oh…. And just remember were not some teeny-booper band. As both teams walked off, Tony Schiavone and Jim Ross wondered what just happened but ensured the fans that they are in for a treat at Clash of Champions. 5. Hot Stuff Inc. or Hyatt International Last week we saw Eddie Gilbert walk out on Missy Hyatt and Hollywood John Tatum. He was upset at the kiss he witnessed between the two at Miami Mayhem along with the idea that Missy was spreading that he needed help from Tatum during that big match. As he walked out, Tatum was overheard calling him jealous and stating that Eddie’s jealousy was the reason he left Hyatt International the last time. This week, Tatum wins in tainted fashion over Tim Horner as Missy tripped up “White Lightening.” Just as the post-match interview was about to start, “Hot Stuff” came out and confronted Missy and Tatum. He started by letting Tatum know that he heard his jealous comment and that there couldn’t be anything farther from the truth. He let Tatum know that he was the WCW World Television Champion… the face of the franchise and all Tatum is, is a liar about some Hollywood career and being friends with the stars. Gilbert then turned to Missy Hyatt and let her know that Hot Stuff Inc. only succeeded because of him. Tatum found this all really funny and that if Gilbert thought he was so great then he wouldn’t mind putting the TV title on the line at Clash of Champions. Eddie, with all the confidence in the world smirked at Tatum and said that Missy and he would be there with bells on and that this would be the last we would see of Mr. Hollywood. Tatum, gave Eddie the same smirk and replied, “Missy and I can’t wait and that he is really going to enjoy being the new champion and the face of both WCW and Hyatt International. Eddie and Tatum both began to walk off and then stopped as Missy wasn’t moving. She was really put in the middle of this struggle for supremacy. 6. Update on the arm-wrestling challenge! Last week, Rip Rogers and Terri Powers were laughing it up on the fact that Terri could beat Jeff Jarrett in arm wrestling match. This brought out Miss. Tennessee who came out and challenges Rip Rogers to an arm-wrestling match of their own. Rip said that it wouldn’t be worth his time, but this only allowed Miss. Tennessee wo end the segment by making a bunch of chicken noises. This week saw Rip Rogers get another easy win on tv against some jobber but again his post-match interview was interrupted by Miss. Tennessee who wanted an answer to the arm-wrestling challenge. Rip again said that it wouldn’t be worth his time… but…. His valet…. Terri … would more than accept the challenge! Miss. Tennessee countered by accepting the challenge … and then giving Terri and big shove that sent her back peddling. As Miss. Tennessee headed off, she was again making chicken sounds. Jim Ross was a little stunned at how easy Miss. Tennessee had knocked the muscular Terri backwards and that this should be a great match next week on TV. As Terri and The Hustler were walking off, Terri could be heard telling Rip that she might just be right … you seem a little afraid and I’m getting tired of doing all your work for you. 7. The Roddy Piper-Magnificent Muraco and Jake “The Snake” Roberts Situation Muraco and Snake had an easy win as a tag team this week on tv, but it was at the post-match interview where things really heated up. Muraco and Snake took turns laughing at Piper’s comments from last week where he said that he was going to enjoy beating them both up. Snake and Muraco made it clear that Piper had no chance of beating either one of them up, never mind both of them. That is when old Hot Rod came out and in classic Piper fashion, made sure that Muraco and Snake knew that he was not in the least bit concerned with them and in fact… if they had the guts… he would take them both in right now! Muraco and Snake agreed, and the impromptu match was set. Give Piper his due and his took everything Snake and Muraco had and for the first few minutes he had the upper hand. Make no mistake, Piper is not your typical fan favorite and he broke every rule in the book. We saw eye rakes, closed fists and a possible low blow. The problem was that the ref had little control and eventually the illegal double team moves took their toll and Piper found himself in trouble. The end came when Snake followed up a Muraco piledriver with a DDT and that was all she wrote. Both Muraco and Snake took turns spitting Piper as he laid motionless in the center of the ring and then they had to the podium for another minute or two of gloating as low level babyfaces tended to Piper in the ring. Jim Ross and Tony Schiavone gave Piper some credit but expressed a concern that he better find some help. 8. A new challenger for Madusa? It seems that Madusa’s recent success has drawn the attention of someone new. The segment started with a video of an attractive, fit women who called herself Magnificent Mimi touting the skills of Madusa. She praised her for her victory’s over Wendy Richter. She praised her for his victories over the Japanese star Bull Nakano. She praised her combination of power and speed. She praised her for grit and determination. She even praised her for her beauty… and then it all changed … A video showcasing her beating opponent after opponent is shown … her speed and power are on full display… along with what appears to be full model photo shoots where she is cocky as hell, knowing that she is all that. The video ends with Mimi saying, “Whatever you can do Madusa, I can do just that much better and if you got the guts, I will show you at Clash of Champions! Tony Schiavone lets everyone know that Madusa is not in the building tonight so we will have to wait for her answer but after what he just say, Magnificent Mimi might just be the one women who would give Madusa one heck of a match. 9. Update on WrestleWar 89 on April 17th in the Mid-South Coliseum We already know that it will be “The King” Jerry Lawler challenging for the WCW World Title against whoever leaves Clash of Champions with the belt. We also know that there will be an 8-man, single elimination tournament titled, The Crowning, and whoever wins this tournament will receive a large purse along with a WCW World Title shot anytime they want. Jerry Jarrett announced this week that the WCW roster is so deep right now that wrestlers will need to win a qualifying bout in order to be entered into “The Crowning.” Jarrett let everyone know that the first two qualifying bouts will take place at Clash of Champions as Sting will take on Dick Murdoch and Dr. Death Steve Williams will wrestle former World Champion, Terry Funk. 10. This Week at the Power Plant! The Power Plant is not just for people learning to wrestle. It is also for people looking to move up in the wrestling world. This week, Terry Brunk began working with Mr. Wrestling II at the training zone. Brunk is not new to the world of wrestling. In fact, he has been in the sport for nearly 4 years. He spent part of his early career working with Ed “The Sheik” Farhat in Detroit. Based on that information alone, it is obvious that Terry is ready to brawl. He has also spent some time on the west coast where he honed his skills. It is always interesting to see what Mr. Wrestling II comes up with in terms of characters for Terry but he seems to have that heel look to him.
  19. I think I predicted almost every match incorrectly. That's one thing that makes these games fun as we all see things differently. It could also be that I am not as familiar with some of the new wrestlers like Damien 666 or with the Canadian fan base. Really enjoying how the roster gets juggled a lot in terms of who is a babyface and who is a heel depending on where the show is. This dynamic reminds me of when I was in both Toronto and Quebec in 1993. Toronto seemed very much like New York while Quebec seemed to hate everything about NY.
  20. Once again I am in catch-up mode! I thought the last few weeks were really well done as each show built off of the last. Example: Mike Miller attacks Leo Burke. Mike Miller attacks El Canek- El Canek travels to London to beat Miller- Back on the weekly TV, Leo Burke attacks Miller for revenge. Really great job of keeping things moving forward but always with a new twist and turn. Great choice with Gordy to help get Hulk over. Idol-Armstrong keeps all those old time fans coming back! Sgt-Koloff was really well done. Larry Z's promos are always awesome. I never get tired of a Spudhead comment. I also like how the event in London helped continue angles for the next big card. For now London is new and to give it all away across Seas doesn't pay your bills. Champagne is set to do just that! Hopefully I can stay more on time as AWA is rolling.
  21. MARCH 2, 1989 Highlights from this week’s TV show 1. Jerry Jarrett announces the next two big WCW shows. First, on April 2nd in the Louisiana Superdome will be Clash of Champions- Ragin Cajun which will air live on WTBS. Next, on April 17, WCW will present their next pay-per view event: WrestleWar 89. WrestleWar will take place in the Mid-South Coliseum. Jarrett goes on to announce in the Superdome there will be 4 title matches including the WCW World Title and the WCW World Tag Team Title. Many believe that the reason for the 4 title matches just 2 weeks before the pay-per view is that the Superdome is such a large venue with large costs, that they need to make this one special. As for WrestleWar, Jarrett made it official that Jerry Lawler will get a WCW World Title shot at this event. He could not say that this match would definitely be against Ric Flair as Flair would be defending his title at Clash of Champions. Also, Jarrett announced that at WrestleWar 89, there would also be an 8-man singles tournament known as “The Crowning” where the winner would get $100,000 and a WCW World Title shot at any event of their choosing. 2. Colonel Debeers Interview: If it was even possible, Debeers used this week’s TV show to become even more hated. He started the promo with Jim Ross by announcing just how disgusting WCW and Jerry Jarrett were for making him wrestle known steroid users who are cheating the system and also making him get inside of the ring against the likes of Tony Atlas, Butch Reed and Ron Simmons who obviously are part of an inferior race. Jim Ross was feed up with the nonsense and asked Debeers why, if he is so disgusted by America, doesn’t he just leave. While the fans cheered, Debeers turned Ross’s words completely around by telling him that he is just like most Americans who go through life with blinders on not willing to admit that America is a cease pool of dishonesty and inferiority. Jim Ross, seeing that he isn’t getting anywhere, changes the subject to the Mayhem Match last week and asks if he had anything to do with the arrival of the Iron Sheik and The Russian Assassin in WCW. Debeers with a hearty laugh announces that he is half the reason they are here and their common hatred of America is the other half. It is here that Iron Sheik and The Russian Assassin join the interview. Debeers goes on to announce the formation of the AAC… The Anti-American Coalition. Jim Ross just shakes his head in disgust. Debeers goes on to let everyone known that this is just the beginning and that more members will soon be in WCW as the Coalition will not stop until America sees its wrongs. Iron Sheik takes a turn at downgrading the United States as he spits in disgust followed by the Russian Assassin pointing out how the only superpower in the World is Mother Russia and soon the Coalition will prove to America just how weak they truly are. The fans are basically foaming at the mouth by the time this is interview is over. 3. WCW Title Situation: Ric Flair with Woman and fellow Horsemen, Arn Anderson and Tully Blanchard, were at the interview podium where Ric Flair was having a grand old time recapping his “easy” title defense against Ted Dibiase at Miami Mayhem where he pinned the “Million Dollar Man” right in the center of the ring. Jerry Jarrett who was having a business night came out again and let everyone know that due to the “controversial” ending to the title match between Flair and Dibiase that Dibiase has been granted a rematch at Clash of Champions. Flair was fuming saying that he already pinned Dibiase and that Dibiase doesn’t deserve a rematch. Jarrett rolled the film where Woman was seen knocking Dibiase’s leg off the bottom rope as the ref completed his 3-count. When the video was over Jarrett simply said “rematch at Clash of Champions” and oh… by the way… Woman will be barred for ringside that night. Flair and Women threw a hissy fit as Jarrett exited the segment. Later in the show, Ted Dibiase came out with a big smirk on his face which confused Jim Ross who thought he would be upset over the outcome at Clash of Champions. Dibiase responded that Woman’s action at Clash of Champions proves that even she knows that Flair can’t beat him and when your women has no confidence in you, you really are outmatched. Dibiase can’t wait to take the tile from Flair and then head to the iconic Mid-South Coliseum and face Jerry “The King” Lawler at WrestleWar 89. Lawler after his squash match victory gave a great promo about how he doesn’t care if he faces Flair or Dibiase at WrestleWar because there is nobody in WCW who is going to beat him at the Mid-South Coliseum and that he can’t wait to win the WCW title in front of all his hometown fans! 4. Jake “The Snake” Roberts-“Magnificent” Muraco-Roddy Piper Situation At the Mayhem Match, the reason for Jake Roberts return to WCW became clearer as he sided with Don Muraco in an attack on Roddy Piper. When asked why he did this, Snake in a circle of words basically said that he can’t stand Piper and that he has just been biding his time for when it was right to strike. He goes on to say that he was sick to his stomach each and every day going to work and listening to the obnoxious Piper claim how great he was… how he had to pretend to be his friend… how he had to swallow the bile in his mouth whenever the “Skirt” was around. Finally… one day… Don Muraco called him up and said “Old Hot Rod” is at it again down here in WCW and I think we should do something about it. Oh, the smile on Snake’s face. I came down here and sucked it up one more time on Piper’s Pit… oh how I wanted to smash his skull that night but I waited… waited for the perfect time… and that perfect time was at Miami Mayhem. Now it doesn’t matter to me if it’s me or Don Muraco but one of us is going to end his career. Roddy Piper responded later in the show: Ya know something Jim Ross… when I was in high school, I was voted “Most Likely to Beat Up The Football Team. Everything in my life is Tough! I’m tough. My dog is tough. In fact, my dog is so tough he goes around eating snakes! And you know where he learned that… from me! Jake Roberts and Don Muraco… you two have no idea what you’ve gotten yourselves into. You think you’re gonna come down here and make a name for yourselves by taking out Roddy Piper… Well I don’t think so. I’ve built my name by beating one person at a time. And it will be fun taking you two out. Jim Ross asked Piper if he thinks he is going to need a teammate to help deal with both the Snake and Muraco. Piper responded by saying he already had teammates… Me… Myself and I… and that’s all I need for those two! 5. WCW Tag Team Situation: The only thing we know is that the WCW United States Tag Champs, The Freebirds (Michael Hayes and Jimmy Garvin) will be defending their titles at Clash of Champions and the WCW World Tag Team Champions, Arn Anderson and Tully Blanchard, will be defending their titles at WrestleWar. The challengers for those matches have yet to be determined. Terry Funk and Dick Murdoch gave The Horsemen all they could handle at Miami Mayhem and deserve a rematch. Ted Dibiase and Dr. Death have never received their mandatory rematch after losing the belts to the Horsemen back in January and never forget that the Rock n Roll Express and the Grapplers are here. This could take a few weeks to get all sorted out and Tony Schiavone might just be right when he said that he wasn’t sure that the Horsemen and the Freebirds would even still have the titles by the time we get to April as this tag division has a lot of teams capable of wining those titles on any given night. 6. Hot Stuff Inc Turmoil? Both “Hot Stuff” Eddie Gilbert and “Hollywood” John Tatum had a pretty good run in the Mayhem Match but that doesn’t mean that everything is cool in the “Hot Club.” Here is a portion of the interview from last week’s show. Jim Ross: Well Missy, it seems like you have Hot Stuff Inc. pointed in the right direction as both “Hot Stuff” Eddie Gilbert and “Hollywood” John Tatum made it to the final eight in the Mayhem Match. Eddie Gilbert: Since when to you start an interview talking to Missy Hyatt. I am the leader of the Hot Stuff Inc. And we would have done even better in the Mayhem Match if this guy next to me did his job! John Tatum: What do you mean? I was the one who saved your butt to begin with. You would’ve been gone just as I entered the ring if I didn’t rush in and help you deal with Lawler… something you obviously couldn’t do on your own. Eddie Gilbert: First of all, I can beat Lawler every day of the week and twice on Sundays… Rember, I am the WCW World Television Champion… the face of the franchise… the one everyone pays to see…. and you say you rushed in to save me? I think you rushed to the ring to kiss Missy! Yeah, you didn’t think I saw that. Missy Hyatt: Come on Eddie… Not this again! I kissed John on the cheek because I was so excited he could help you in the Mayhem Match! Eddie Gilbert: Oh, so now you think I need help! I’ve had enough of this! Eddie walks off as Missy and John just shake their heads! The microphone did pick up Tatum mumbling that Eddie has always been jealous of him and that is why he had to leave Hyatt International the first time. When Jim Ross wanted to know if the official name of their group was Hot Stuff Inc or Hyatt International, both Missy and John walked off. 7. Hustler Rip Rogers/ Terri Powers- Jeff Jarrett Situation/Miss Tennessee Situation This one is just heating up and today on WCW, Rip Rogers was laughing during his promo about how easy Terri could beat Jeff Jarrett in an arm-wrestling match. This brought out Miss Tennessee who was fuming! She told Rip that JJ was too much of a man to do any kind of wrestling against a lady… even one as skanky as Terri! This had Terri wanting a piece of Miss. Tennessee but Rip held her back. Miss Tennessee went on to say that while JJ was too much of a man to fight a women, she knew that Rip was not a man at all and that he would have no problem fighting a women… Rip started to shake his head in agreement then realized he had been tricked and started to yell that he was all man! Miss. Tennessee went on to challenge his to an arm-wrestling match and flashed a pretty impressive double bicep pose in his face. At first, Rip was a little surprised but then tried to act tough by saying that she wouldn’t be worse his time as he was the fittest athlete in the world. Miss. Tennessee ended the segment by saying, “Just what I thought… your not a man… you’re a chicken.” And she left making chicken sounds which fired up both Rip and Terri. 8. WCW Women’s Division It seems like the match between Madusa Micelli and Wendy Richter at Mayhem was well accepted by the fans at that Jerry Jarrett is looking to add a WCW Women’s Title at some point during 1989. The first step is to build a women’s division which Jerry is currently looking into. More on this in the coming weeks. 9. The Monster that is Lord Humongous We can all recall the videos of Oliver Humperdink hitting Humongous with a sledge hammer in some dank dungeon-like setting claiming that his man was unstoppable. Six months later, Humperdink has proven to be right. He has been undefeated since his arrival in WCW and single handedly eliminated 6 wrestlers from the Mayhem match including Sting and went toe-to-toe with “The Total Pacakage” Lex Luger. This week, after nearly killing another jobber, Humperdink spoke for the man behind the mask and said that he wants Lex Luger in the ring for a WCW United States Title match. During Luger’s match this week, Humperdink led Humongous to the ring where they watched Luger defeat Dr. Diobolico. Luger was a little unnerved by the duo on the outside of the ring but it also seemed to fire him up. After Diobolica submitted to the Torture Rack, Luger tossed him away, grabbed the ropes and shook them with all his might. Luger dared Lord Humongous into the ring and Humongous grabbed the rope and was about to step up on the apron as Humperdink pulled him away and shook his head “No” to him man. The two walked away but it seems obvious that somewhere down the road, their paths will cross. 10. The WCW Power Plant Mr. Wrestling II truly believes that size matters! He has been spending a lot of time at the Power Plant working with the big boys… Scott “The Flash” Norton, The Huffman brothers, and the 300 pounder, Anthony Harris. When the phone rang this week and he was informed that he was getting a new pupil, the 5’9, 185 pound James Mitchell, he was a little skeptical. After the first week, it seems like Mr. Wrestling II has been pleasantly surprised. He knows that Mitchell will never be a world champion but his ability on the mic has impressed all at the Power Plant. Mr. Wrestling II reminds us that many smaller guys have had great success in the business. When asked who Mitchell reminds him of, Mr. Wrestling II quickly responded, “Jim Cornette.” If that means Mitchell’s future might be as a manager, only time will tell but Mitchell has earned more time in the WCW Power Plant.
  22. Nice show here which gives us some direction as to where the AWA is headed. Like the promo for the show in England. It reminded me of Georgia Championship Wrestling where they would highlight the main event like you did with Jumbo vs Armstrong. Then they would rattle off a few big names who were most likely facing mid-card guys but the fans were so excited to see them. Great job. Also, I thought the promo with Buzz was awesome. I could just see crazy Buzz Sawyer running in circles chanting Link, Link, Link. Awesome!! Larry Z is so hated and Iceman is so loved right now that this feud is perfect. Also, can't wait to see the next installment of a bloody feud with Carlos Colon. The AWA like it should be in Dawn of War.
  23. PRESENT Miami Arena February 27, 1989 Women’s Match Madusa Micelli vs Wendy Richter As WCW decides the direction of their Women’s Division, Jerry Jarrett decided to judge the fan’s reaction to the two biggest names he could think of. Madusa has been with WCW for a while now but has not seen a lot of action due to a lack of competition. Jarrett decided to pay the daily fee here for Richter and see what the future holds. These two put on a great show with the win coming by way of the Power Bomb by Madusa over Richter. If the fan’s reaction means anything to Jarrett, it is time to get this division off the ground. WCW WORLD TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH Arn Aderson & Tully Blanchard © with Woman vs Terry Funk & Dick Murdoch While Anderson and Blanchard may know every dirty trick in the book, Funk and Murdoch are like a tornado of barroom brawlers that Arn and Tully are struggling to contain. Lucky for the champions that this action spilled out onto the arena floor. While Arn and Tully were bloodied pretty good, the ref had no choice but to count both teams out. With the Double Count-Out, the champs saved their titles. WCW WORLD TITLE MATCH Ric Flair © with Woman vs Ted Dibiase Instant classic! Not going to go into too many details here but this was a match for the ages with a tainted finish as Flair pins Dibiase. Dibiase was able to get his foot across the bottom rope at the count of two, but Woman shoved it off before the ref saw it and Teddy Long completed his 3-count. MAIN EVENT THE MAYHEM MATCH WINNER GETS A WCW WORLD TITLE SHOT AT WRESTE WAR Jim Ross: It is now time for the Mayhem Match. The rules are simple… two men will enter the ring and wrestle for 2-minutes. At the end of the two minutes, another man will enter the match. Elimination can occur at anytime when an individual is thrown over the top rope to the floor with both feet touching the ground. After all 25 participants have entered, the final man standing in the ring will be the winner. Now, let’s get ready for the most exciting hour in all of wrestling… the individual who drew number 1… “Dr. Death” Steve Williams! The man who drew number 2… coming to us from South Africa… the man we all love to hate… Col. Debeers! Dr. Death gets a huge ovation from the crowd as this is his first real action in 1989 but Tony Schiavone and Jim Ross are very concerned about the health of that injured right leg and the fact that he drew such an awful number. Debeers walks slowly to the ring as the boos rain down on him. When he gets to the apron, he demands the house microphone where he announces that he will not get involved right now as it is obvious that Dr. Death is on steroids as no human can be that strong naturally. Debeers adds that he will not fight cheaters. Suddenly, Jerry Jarrett comes up from behind Debeers and announces that if he doesn’t get in the ring, right now, he will be suspended indefinitely. Debeers, understanding where his paycheck comes from, gets in the ring and Dr. Death attacks like a man possessed. The only problem was that Debeers had stalled enough that help is soon on the way. Number 3 is… from Tehran, Iran… making his WCW debut, The Iron Sheik. The Sheik runs to the ring and quickly attacks Dr. Death. After Dr. Death is slowed, we get the most sickening moment of the night as Debeers and Sheik hug each other before continuing their attack on Dr. Death. The siren goes off as Jim Ross announces #4… Sting! The crowd once again explodes as Sting flies into the ring with a Stinger Splash on The Sheik followed by a Splash on Debeers. We get a nice 2 v 2 segment with the babyfaces in control but still no eliminations. Number 5 - …making his WCW debut… the Russian Assassin… Jim Ross hypes up the look of this man … 6’3… 250 pounds in a red jump suit with a red and yellow mask with a long chain around his neck. Tony Schiavone praised ref Pee Wee Anderson who made the Russian Assassin leave the chain at the timekeepers table before getting in the ring. The Russian quickly joins the team of Debeers and Sheik! It seems like we are at war… America vs the World. Unfortunately, it is a 3-2 fight and Sting and Dr. Death are barely holding on! Number 6… Mr. USA… Tony Atlas! The crowd explodes as they know he is going right for Colonel Debeers. The look of fear on Debeers face is priceless and he actually slides out of the ring and starts to run around the ring with Atlas in hot pursuit. The problem for Debeers is that he can’t run for the entire two minutes and Atlas catches him! Debeers is being beaten from pillar to post but it looks like Atlas wants to continue to attack the man behind the racist remarks so he makes no effort into eliminating him. #7…from parts unknown … the mysterious… the undefeated… Lord Humongous. Lord Humongous slowly makes his way to the ring with Oliver Humperdink joining him. The smile on Humperdink’s face just oozes confidence. The monster hits the ring and right away hits a double clotheline on Dr. Death and the Iron Sheik and they both tumble over the top rope. Humongous now has his sight set on Atlas but lucky for Tony, the siren goes off and we get the next entrant to the Mayhem Match. Eliminated… Dr. Death and The Iron Sheik #8… from one of the most famous wrestling families … Brad Armstrong. Unfortunately for Armstrong, his night is short lived. Lord Humongous had just body slammed Sting and left him lying in the center of the ring. As Brad come in to try and help Sting out, Lord Humongous scooped him up and press slammed him out to the arena floor. Lord Humongous is a MONSTER. We have Atlas trying to fend off both the Russian Assassin and Debeers and Sting barely holding on against Lord Humongous. Eliminated… Dr. Death, The Iron Sheik Brad Armstong. #9… from the Florida State Seminoles… the All-American… Ron Simmons. Simmons runs to the ring and the look of fear on Col. Debeers face is priceless. It Is now 2-2 with Simmons and Atlas taking control of Debeers and the Russian Assassin with Sting still going blow for blow the Lord Humongous. #10… one half of the Long Riders… Black Bart. When Bart hits the ring, he decides to make it a 2-1 against Sting as he joins Lord Humongous. #11… from the Sudan… Abdullah the Butcher… with bamboo stick in hand and Gary Hart in tow, Abbie drags himself up and into the ring and goes right for Sting. It is now 3-1 with Sting trying to fight off nearly 1000 pounds a wildness. Abbie hits an elbow drop followed by a double leg drop by Bart as Lord Humongous simply scoops up Sting and goes to toss him over the top rope. Somehow Sting wiggles free and superkicks Black Bart right over the top rope. An exhausted Sting leans on the rope to try and catch his breath. This is a bad place to be in the Mayhem Match. WHAM… Lord Humongous with a kick to the face sends Sting over the top rope. Sting tries to hold on as his fingers are clutching at the rope. WHAM… another boot by Humongous and out goes Sting. WHAM… a huge lariat by Humongous and over the top rope goes the unexpecting 400-pound Abdullah the Butcher. These were easily the most action packed two minutes so far. Eliminated… Dr. Death, The Iron Sheik, Brad Armstong, Black Bart, Sting and Abdullah the Butcher #12… The WCW United States Champion… The Total Package… Lex Luger. Jim Ross and Tony Schiavone hype up the thought that if anyone in WCW can stop Lord Humongous, it might just be Lex Luger. Luger hits the ring and meets Humongous in the center of the ring and the two dominant forces have quite the stare down. This lasts about 5 seconds before the right hands start flying. This is a brawl like no other! While this is still going on, Col. Debeers and The Russian Assassin are barely holding on as Atlas and Simmons are getting the better on that side of the ring. Eliminated… Dr. Death, The Iron Sheik, Brad Armstong, Black Bart, Sting and Abdullah the Butcher Still In: Col. Debeers, the Russian Assassin, Tony Atlas, Lord Humongous, Ron Simmons, Lex Luger #13… Here comes Grappler #1 and he goes right after Lex Luger. Luger, now in the fight for his life, somehow manages to hold off The Grappler and Lord Humongous until he gets help! #14… and help he does get… from Memphis, Tennessee… The King… Jerry Lawler. Lawler heads straight for the Grappler. This two have matched up many times in Memphis and they are brawling like there is unfinished business. The ring now has 3 major fights going on. We got Lawler-Grappler #1 in one corner, Lex and Humongous in the center of the ring and Tony Atlas/Ron Simmons vs Col. Debeers and The Russian Assassin on the other side. #15… Grappler #2… We know right we he is going! By the end of this segment the King is actually on the apron trying to hold off both Grapplers. He is taking big time shots from both sides and it doesn’t look good. #16… from the WCW Power Plant… “The Flash” Scott Norton. The fans are not familiar with Norton but WCW has shown a few videos of what Mr. Wrestling II is doing at the Power Plant so many are excited to see the Flash. Jim Ross and Tony Schiavone do a good job of telling his arm-wrestling background and hyping him up as he moves as quickly as a man his size can. WHAM…a big chest bump sends one Grappler to the floor. Norton hits the ropes and comes off with a shoulder block and out goes the second Grappler. Jim Ross says “and that is why the call him the Fash.” The Grapplers are out in the floor fuming. They grab Norton’s legs while ref Pee Wee Anderson is yelling at them to leave the arena. Eventually the do but Col. Debeers has broken free from his brawl for just a second and nails the unexpecting Norton to the floor. Tony Schiavone reminds everyone that this was Norton’s first time in the ring and that he still has a lot to learn. Tony Atlas rushed over and continues his attack on Debeers! Eliminated… Dr. Death, The Iron Sheik, Brad Armstong, Black Bart, and Abdullah the Butcher, Sting, Grappler #1, Grappler #2, Scott Norton Still In: Col. Debeers, the Russian Assassin, Tony Atlas, Lord Humongous, Ron Simmons, Lex Luger, Jerry Lawler. #17… “Hot Stuff” Eddie Gilbert with Missy Hyatt sexily leading the way… When Jerry Lawler heard this,he was all smiles. He left Luger to deal with Humongous and actually held the rope down for Eddie Gilbert. Gilbert very cautiously entered the ring and WOW, the brawl was on. Lawler’s strap was off and the punches were flying. Gilbert was down but that might have been the safest place for him as he was not going over the top rope. The way Lawler was attacking, it looked like getting at Gilbert was his main reason for coming to WCW. Missy Hyatt was screaming at Lawler and Pee Wee Anderson but there was nothing she could do. #18… Hollywood John Tatum. Missy Hyatt is jumping up and down for her “second” man in the Mayhem match. She is urging him to get to the ring faster but just as he gets there, she goes and gives him a peck on the cheek. Tatum goes right to the ring and goes 2-1 with Gilbert against the King. Also during this segment, the crowd got exactly what they wanted as Ron Simmons hit the shoulder block on Colonel Debeers and Tony Atlas press slammed him over the top rope. Next, Reed and Simmons focus on sending the Russian Assassin over the top rope but somehow this newcomer is hanging on. Eliminated… Dr. Death, The Iron Sheik, Brad Armstong, Black Bart, Sting and Abdullah the Butcher, Grappler #1, Grappler #2, Scott Norton, and Colonel Debeers. #19… Hacksaw Butch Reed… Reed comes rushing to the ring but he might have come to quickly. Waiting right behind the steel guardrail was Colonel Debeers who had snatched the Russian Assassin’s steel chain. WHAM… Debeers levels Hacksaw with the chain and then begins to choke Reed. After nearly two minutes outside the ring, Debeers rolls Reed into the ring and then climbs back into the ring even though he was already eliminated. Debeers then tosses Reed over the top rope and he is dangling by the chain. Jim Ross is screaming that Debeers is going to kill him! Also, Lawler looks to be in trouble against Tatum and Gilbert. #20 … “The Outlaw” Ron Bass… Bass comes running to the ring. Tony Atlas and Ron Simmons see the predicament that Reed is in and rush to his aid. From behind, Atlas clobbers Debeers forcing him to let go of the chain. Unfortunately, this also sends Reed crashing to the arena floor and he is eliminated. Simmons sends Debeers hurdling over the top rope. By now, Lawler is half in and half out of the ring as he is struggling with Tatum and Gilbert. Missy Hyatt is screaming with excitement as she loves what she is seeing. Luger and Humongous continue their brawl as the Russian Assassin takes a momentum to catch his breath as Simmons and Atlas dealt with Debeers for the second time. Bass takes the opportunity to go after Luger in a move that he thought was safe as Humongous would have his back? Eliminated… Dr. Death, The Iron Sheik, Brad Armstong, Black Bart, Sting and Abdullah the Butcher, Grappler #1, Grappler #2, Scott Norton, Colonel Debeers and Hacksaw Reed Still In: the Russian Assassin, Tony Atlas, Lord Humongous, Eddie Gilbert, Ron Simmons, Lex Luger, Jerry Lawler, John Tatum, and Ron Bass #21… from Glascow, Scotland … “the Hot Rod” … Roddy Piper! Piper struts to the ring with a huge grin on his face. Just after Piper entered the ring, Simmons and Atlas hurled The Russian Assassin over the top rope. Simmons and Atlas then rush over to help Luger and together, the powerhouse trio of Luger, Atlas and Simmons are finally able to get Humongous over the top rope but Humongous held on to Luger and dragged him with him. Luger and Humongous both collapse on the arena floor as neither has the energy left to stand up. Piper goes right to Ron Bass and nails him with a low blow. Eliminated… Dr. Death, The Iron Sheik, Brad Armstong, Black Bart, Sting and Abdullah the Butcher, Grappler #1, Grappler #2, Scott Norton, Colonel Debeers and Hacksaw Reed, The Russian Assassin, Lex Luger and Lord Humongous #22… From Honolulu, Hawaii… “The Magnificent” Muraco… Muraco rushes in and goes right after Roddy Piper. These two obviously have unfinished business. Ron Simmons is all over Ron Bass as he has separated from his alliance with Atlas who has gone to help Lawler deal with Tatum and Gilbert. #23… “The Hustler” … Rip Rogers… Rogers hits the ring with Terri Powers leading the way. We now have brawling all over the ring with no set pairings except for Piper vs Muraco. #24… Jeff Jarrett… As Jarrett enters the ring, the group kind of separates again into a few mini-fights. It is Lawler, Atlas and Jarrett vs Tatum, Gilbert and Rip Rogers on one side, Ron Simmons and Ron Bass on the other and Piper vs Muraco front and center. #25… Making his WCW in-ring debut… Jake “The Snake” Roberts… Now things are going to get interesting. At Clash of Champions, Jake Roberts did nothing to help anyone figure out which side of the roster he was going to be siding with but this should answer a lot of questions. Snake slithers in, and with a wry smile takes notice of the landscape. Snake saunters over to the corner with Ron Simmons and Ron Bass. WHAM… DDT on Simmons. Snake points at the fallen Simmons and tells Bass to toss him over the top rope which is happily does. Snake extends his hand to Bass as the crowd the crowd is booing. As Ron goes to shake his hand, WHAM… DDT on Ron Bass and then Snake tosses Ron over the top rope. Eliminated… Dr. Death, The Iron Sheik, Brad Armstong, Black Bart, Sting, Abdullah the Butcher, Grappler #1, Grappler #2, Scott Norton, Colonel Debeers, Hacksaw Reed, The Russian Assassin, Lex Luger, Lord Humongous, Ron Simmons and Ron Bass. Still In: Tony Atlas, Eddie Gilbert, Jerry Lawler, Roddy Piper, John Tatum, Don Muraco, Rip Rogers, Jeff Jarrett and Jake Roberts. While the fans are still left to wonder about Jake Roberts, Jeff Jarrett and Rip Rogers are on the apron trading blows. Tony Atlas comes in with a clothesline to Rogers which sends him flying but before JJ can gather his thoughts, he is shoved to the floor by Eddie Gilbert! We now have Atlas and Lawler vs Eddie Gilbert and John Tatum, Muraco vs Piper… and Jake “The Snake” just slithering around. Atlas has Gilbert dangling over the rope when the ever-so-opportunistic Snake rushes in a sends them both to the floor. It is now Lawler vs Tatum , Muraco vs Piper + Snake Roberts. Lawler with a kick to the gut on Tatum and a huge upper cut sends Hollywood to the floor. Interesting thing here is that Eddie Gilbert seems frustrated with Hollywood Tatum and the two are having words as Missy Hyatt tries to calm the situation. We know have Lawler, Piper, Muraco and Snake left in the ring. Snake slowly heads towards Piper and Muraco… WHAM… another DDT on the Surprised Roddy Piper. Again, Snake extends his hand… this time to Muraco. Muraco with a big grin, extends his… the two embrace and then the Hawaiian Hammer disposes of the fallen Piper! Snake and Muraco close-in on Lawler. But Muraco rushed in a little two fast and Lawler steps to the side, grabs Muraco by the back of the head and tosses him over the top rope. It is now Snake vs The King for a World Title Shot at Wrestle War! We get a good back and forth with Snake blocking a Lawler Pilerdriver with a back body drop and Lawler somehow escaping the DDT by ramming Snake into the corner. After these two have completely worn each other out, we see Lawler with the top rope fist drop which allowed him to eventually send the Snake over the top rope! The winner of the Mayhem Match and the World Title shot at Wrestle-War is Jerry “The King” Lawler. A few notes on the Mayhem Match - First, this is the hardest match I have ever and I hope that I was able to keep things straight and organized. Sorry if it was hard to follow. -I had a few goals in mind and not sure I did them all justice so here is what I was aiming for 1. Continue to make Lord Humongous look unstoppable and start a bit of a rivalry with Lex Luger. 2. Introduce some new “friends” for Colonel Debeers with The Iron Sheik and the Russian Assassin. Hoping this turns into the most hated stable in WCW. 3. Give some clarity as to the direction of Jake “Roberts.” He will continue to be his own man but he has some problem with Roddy Piper that will continue to develop. 4. Most important, the WCW is a business and wants to continue to grow. Having Jerry Lawler win this match and earn the title shot at WrestleWar guarantees a huge pay day as that event is the first time WCW will be in the Mid-South Coliseum. Jerry Jarrett hopes this will solidify the Tennessee wrestling faithful as WCW fans for the foreseeable future.
  24. WCW adds Abdullah "The Butcher"
  25. I am really enjoying this. Great project!
