    I used to have War Games at the top of 1992 as well, but since going through the YBs I've leaned towards Sting/Vader over it too. Although, I think Starrcade 1992 is my personal favorite of the bunch. However, I'm about to dive into 1993 so it's possible that could change this time with the strap match. I've seen them both many times, and it has always been my #2 of their series. I've finally got some time to dive into these blogs over the holidays. Thanks Sleeze - love this stuff! Look forward to reading your takes on Memphis...

    Man, I watched this today after I saw your tweet. I absolutely loved it! I've been watching the Prime Time's from 1989 lately, and the Rockers and Mr. Perfect have been clear standouts for me. I knew I had to check this out. I love the production of this match. When the Rockers come out it looks like an 80's music video. Michaels is awesome here. Just a great match. The beginning reminded me of some of their AWA matches against Rose and Somers with the back and forth taunting. I still think DIY vs. The Revival (11/19/2016) is the best WWE TAG match of all-time, but I noticed you said WWF (so, maybe you are referring to simply the federation years). Either way, I see why this is in the conversation! It's fantastic! Great crowd too.

    Boston Garden - 3/18/89 I just caught this match on the 04/10/1989 edition of Prime Time on the WWE Network. This was a really fun match. Hennig is excellent selling and bumping for Garvin's punches. This is a really good example of how great Curt Hennig was around this time. It was a unique finish for Perfect in the WWF, and it's also right before he changed his tights to the classic Perfect look. It's worth your time.

    I'm bumping this since I just finished up the 1992 YB. December was pretty loaded, and I've discussed that above. Here are my favorite matches from December: 1. Sting vs. Vader - 12/28/1992 2. Great Muta vs. Hiroshi Hase - 12/14/1992 3. Genichiro Tenryu vs. Shiro Koshinaka - 12/14/1992 4. Nobuhiko Takada vs. Naoki Sano - 12/20/1992 5. Jushin Liger & Kensuke Sasaki vs. Ricky Steamboat & Shane Douglas - 12/29/1992 6. Barry Windham & Brian Pilliman vs. Ricky Steamboat & Shane Douglas - 12/28/1992 7. Vader & Rick Rude vs. Sting & Ron Simmons - 12/05/1992 8. Jushin Liger & Koji Kanemoto vs. Ultimo Dragon & Masao Orihara - 12/11/1992 My performer of the year goes to Randy Savage. I think Liger and Sting had incredible years too. I know this is a Rick Rude year. I loved his high end performances, but didn't enjoy some of the stuff that dragged. In those high end matches, he was probably the best heel of the year (in-ring). I think the best promotion overall was probably WWF with WCW as runner-up. I was bummed that I didn't find as much Lucha in 1992 that I enjoyed as much in 1990 and 1991. I hope that turns back up in 1993. Here are my Top 10 favorite matches from 1992: 1. Ricky Steamboat vs. Rick Rude - 6/20/1992 8. Kenta Kobashi and Kikuchi vs. Furnas and Kroffat - 5/25/1992 9. Ricky Steamboat vs. Rick Rude - 2/29/1992 10. Sting vs. Vader - GAB 1992 I really wanted to find a spot for Misawa vs. Kawada on 10/21/1992, but I just love these matches on my top 10. Looking forward to 1993. Oh yeah, and I can't forget Arn Anderson vs. Barry Windham from 06/06/1992. It's probably deserves to be on my top 10. I'm just too invested in some of the other characters and moments to slide anything out for it though.

    I couldn't agree more that in regards to Loss and EL-P and their points on Savage. IMO he's still the biggest star in the company at this point, and the top overall performer that they have. He still had a lot to give. They dropped the ball, and I guess I'm not sure why either. I think Slim Jim would rather him be on top vs. Hart in main events rather than color commentary, but I could be wrong. I agree, his WCW career did end up proving Vince wrong if it was really the age thing. I really wish we could have gotten a big time feud with Bret and then eventually Shawn for the world title from Savage before he left. Oh well. I do agree that Savage looked the better of the two here, and the pop for the elbow drop was still huge. I actually do think it was Jannetty that made the 3-count... I should note that Prichard says Savage wanted less of an in-ring role in the company, however Easy E says that it is why Macho wanted to come to WCW and had pushed for a program with Shawn... so who knows...

    I absolutely loved this. You've got Funk throwing some nasty looking punches, and Gilbert bleeding all over a high-school gym (bleachers, gym floor, walls). It's crazy! There is no way a match like this would go down in a gymnasium today. It's the best of their matches I've seen. It's just a really awesome brawl. In my opinion, it blew the Gilbert/Lawler match at the football field (earlier in the year) out of the water.

    I just want to echo how awesome Akiyama looks here for a debut. These two will go on to have one of my personal favorite matches down the line. This is a really cool match to check out if you are fan of these two for sure.

    I was there, and this may have been the most fun wrestling show I've ever attended. The crowd was on fire the entire night. There was such a positive and excited feeling in the crowd throughout the night. The Cody title win is probably the loudest I've seen a crowd live throughout an entire match. The next closest I can think of is TakeOver Dallas I attended with Zayn/Nakamura. His entrance was really epic, and you could feel the real emotion pouring out from the fans after the victory. This was something special.

    Well, I can't wait for the match in 1993 then, because really enjoyed this! This is a great pairing... between the smoothness and selling of Casas and rough edges and killer offense of Dragon... this is a fun one! Their styles really compliment each other. I do see what some are saying about it being a little one-sided, but maybe they were just really trying to build up Dragon as a contender? I have no clue about the build-up to this, so I'm likely totally off with that...I tried to hit up OJ's link but couldn't get it to work...

    I agree, I really think the announcers dropped the ball. Those are great points on the psychology AJ was working with, and I really wish the announcers would have driven that home. it would have really added to what was an excellent match.

    For those following along, I also just watched another LA Sports Arena show on the Network from 08/13/1988. It's not as good as the one from July, but it does have a young Owen Hart on the show as Blue Angel. Curt Hennig wrestles, and he's in his AWA gear (and, uses his Dad's old finisher). Also, you get Savage vs. Andre and Rude vs. Jake. I enjoyed Savage/Andre, but Rude/Jake was pretty meh. They also have a Philadelphia Spectrum show from 08/27/1988 I plan on checking out prior to SummerSlam with another DiBiase/Savage match, and another Rude/Jake encounter. I think you guys are right in the idea that POP seemed more like an LOD clone than Demolition did at the time, or at least to me. As a kid, I always thought of Demolition as more like KISS than I did the Road Warriors...

    I do not believe so... Boss Man squash (Scott Casey I think), Rockers/Conquistadors, Hacksaw/Andre, Jim Neidhart/Bad News, Warrior/Heenan, and the main event is Rude vs. Jake. There may be another match I'm missing. Also, it's only two hours on the Network, so I guess it could be a possibility it was edited out. They said it was shot for the Z channel and Ventura, Guerilla, and Superstar do the commentary. I do know the very next episode of Prime Time (3 hour special that aired on 7/18/1988) opens with a Santana/Valentine match that appears to have been taped before or for the Wrestling Challenge. I just started that episode of Prime Time.

    About to listen to the new episode, but noticed on Twitter you guys mentioned this has a war between Andre and Hacksaw... They do not have this MSG episode on the Network, but they do have 07/15/1988 from the LA Sports Arena in the Old School section. There is really fun battle between Andre and Hacksaw there as well, and my guess is that it might be pretty similar. Regardless, it's a fun card for anyone following along that might want to check it out. Simply an FYI.

    Hey, I loved it too. I absolutely loved Austin in this match. I felt like his performance stood out the most, and he was probably the greenest of the four legends at this point. I agree with those points on Austin, and I also just loved how he came across as such a slime ball heel (especially in the early going - he was cracking me up). Great one to revisit here.

    This may be my favorite interview of 1992 to this point. Haha, Landell is so awesome. And yeah, they prob on some "chemical enhancement" - that was funny way to put it PeteF3, ha.... I should say the most fun interview, I know there's a "tear in my eye" out there post-rumble and definitely some other greats throughout the year...

    I had seen this before, but had also totally forgotten about it. It was really nice surprise today as I make my run through 1992. Lot's of excitement and Liger looked great, as he continues his tear through 1992 as one of the BITW. I wasn't expecting much, so this really kicked me in the face with my morning coffee. Super fun, and definitely worth checking out.

    I loved this. It's super hard-hitting and really enjoyed the Hansen's focus on the leg and Kawada's selling of it. It's a great match for sure. Hansen had lots of great facial expressions... particularly when he'd give Kawada that "you've messed up now" glare...

    I agree with you. I watched this again today and I really didn’t see this as unprofessional but more how you saw it Sleeze. Anyways, I love the moment when Fujinami and Scott look like they are about to legit shoot on each other that sets up the double clothesline... awesome stuff.
