NWA Lutte Internationale TV Taped at CHLT-TV Studios, Sherbrooke, QC Broadcasted March 30th, 1985 (After the opening credits, we’re headed to the broadcast booth where Guy Hauray & Édouard Carpentier wait to start this week’s show.) Guy Hauray: Hello, everyone and welcome to another edition of NWA Lutte Internationale. Quite the eventful show last week as it seems obvious that some of Japan’s most feared & ruthless men are about to make their way right here in the territory as we’ve seen multiple incidents seemingly involving the Machines from Japan. Édouard Carpentier: We know about Big Machine & Super Machine but there are far more than those apparently. And last week, despite the fact we haven’t seen them physically, they made their presence felt and who knows if that will be the case this week. Guy Hauray: Could very well be the case. They could feel tempted to interject themselves in this week’s main event as The Bolshevik Revolution will square off against Terry Taylor & Bob Sweetan from the Sensationals. This could get ugly. But also, momentarily, we’ll have a major announcement in regards to next week’s main event on TV. You don’t wanna miss that. And we’ll plug as well out trip South of the border as we’re headed to Los Angeles, Orlando & Vermont next weekend to promote the Johnny Rougeau Memorial Cup. Speaking of which, the full list of participants in the next few weeks. Édouard Carpentier: Plenty to be excited about in the upcoming days. One can only hope that everything will go smoothly. Guy Hauray: Let’s hope so. We’re ready for our first match, so let’s get to the action! Match #1 Frenchy’s Legion (Mad Dog Lefebvre & Richard “Le Magnifique” Charland, w/Frenchy Martin) vs Serge Jodoin & Tito Senza Not much to say about this match other than Mad Dog Lefebvre & Richard Charland were absolutely dominant, not leaving much of a chance to Serge Jodoin & Tito Senza to get anything going. Charland gets the victory for his team after a piledriver on Serge Jodoin. Winners: Frenchy’s Legion ******COMMERCIAL BREAK********* (As we come back from the break, there seems to be some commotion in the back. The feed goes straight to the Sensationals locker room as Bob Sweetan is laying motionless on the floor and Terry Taylor is holding a Machine mask in his hand. Sherri Martel is hysterical as Taylor is fuming as well.) Guy Hauray: Once again, The Machines seem to have attacked and they got Bob Sweetan! Édouard Carpentier: And it seems like Terry Taylor will be in alone in their match with the Bolshevik Revolution because neither Billy Robinson or Rip Oliver are here this week! Unless someone steps in to replace Sweetan, Terry Taylor is in trouble! Guy Hauray: But who c – (Guy Hauray is immediately interrupted as Bob Backlund walks onto the set) Guy Hauray: Bob Backlund! What’s going on? Bob Backlund: I just came here to say that I can’t stand for such injustice. I just saw what happened to Bob Sweetan and while I’m not seeing eye-to-eye with Sherri Martel or any of those Sensationals, I feel like it’s the honourable thing to volunteer as his substitute to face Zhukov & Smirnoff later in the show. And besides, someone needs to teach those commies that this isn’t Soviet Union. This is North America. Free and proud of it! (As quick as he came, Bob Backlund retreats to the back. And Backlund has barely walked out of the stage, that a more “calm” Sherri Martel walks on to the set with Terry Taylor) Édouard Carpentier: Well, Sherri, you probably just heard it as Bob Backlund has volunteered to replace Bob Sweetan in the main event later in the show against the Bolshevik Revolution. That must make you feel relieved! Sherri Martel: Right now, I couldn’t care less about the main event. As long as Backlund follow our lead, I don’t care who’ll be Terry’s tag team partner. But right now, all of our focus is on those damn Machines! If anyone of you hear this, Bob Sweetan wants a piece of you NEXT WEEK. We don’t care which one is it, as long as we can get our hands on you and rip those damn masks off your heads! Terry Funk might be the most insane man you don’t wanna cross but I assure you that hell hath no fury like the woman SCORNED! (Sherri Martel and Terry Taylor walk away from the broadcast booth) Guy Hauray: Well, Eddie, that’s quite the challenge. Will we have our answer before next week? Édouard Carpentier: I don’t want to presume of anything but I’d be surprised if that’s not the case. Those Japanese stars want to make an impact and they won’t stop there, I’m sure of it. Guy Hauray: When we come back, a special announcement from promoter Frank Valois! ********COMMERCIAL BREAK*********** (Back from the break, we see Lutte Internationale promoter Frank Valois standing between Guy Hauray & Édouard Carpentier.) Guy Hauray: Before we head to our main event, we have the pleasure of welcoming NWA Lutte Internationale promoter Frank Valois, who has an announcement to make in regards to next week’s TV main event. Frank Valois: Thank you Guy but first and foremost, during the commercial break, I received a phone call in my office from a representative of those Machines in Japan. I’ve received confirmation that not only they’ll be taking part in our US tour next week but they have accepted the challenge of Sherri Martel earlier in the show and one of them will be competing next week against Bob Sweetan. Édouard Carpentier: That’s a major development here. This should be really interesting but now, what is the major announcement you have for us? Frank Valois: Well, Eddie, as you know, our relationship with the World Wrestling Federation has gone sour ever since we joined the National Wrestling Alliance and while all sorts of shenanigans took place, there’s one employee who has remained loyal and respectful to us and he has made it clear that he wants to continue to compete here – and elsewhere around the world – as much as he can. This is why I’m excited to announce that our main event next week will pit none other than Dory Funk Jr vs.....ANDRE THE GIANT! Guy Hauray: WOW! Andre the Giant returning to the territory for the first time in years? How exciting! Frank Valois: And that’s not all. As you know, the 2nd annual Johnny Rougeau Memorial Cup is taking place from April 28 to April 30 at the Montreal Forum and we’ve allotted some very special slots this year to some of the top freelancers. Of course, one of those slots will go to Andre the Giant but I’m also excited to confirm that the 3 other freelancers will be Jerry “The King” Lawler, Stan “The Lariat” Hansen & Bruiser Brody! Guy Hauray: And when can we expect to hear about the other participants? Frank Valois: Soon hopefully. I’ve yet to hear from CMLL in Mexico to whom I’ve extended the invitation this year but otherwise, every other territory has sent me the names of their representatives. I think this will be even more stacked than last year’s tournament. Looking forward to share with you all the other news about the tournament. Édouard Carpentier: Thank you, Mr. Valois, and we’re as excited as you are! This should be an exciting time next week, Guy! Guy Hauray: Yes, Eddie, and it could be the most historical TV episode we’ll ever have next week. We hope you won’t miss this, fans! As we go to our commercial break before the main event, let’s take a look at the cards our US fans will see next week! APRIL 5TH (LOS ANGELES, CA) MAIN EVENT NWA INTERNATIONAL HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP Terry Funk © vs Nord the Barbarian (w/Eddy “The Brain” Creatchman) 6-MEN TAG TEAM SPECIAL ATTRACTION The Strong Machines vs The Sensationals Rip Oliver vs Richard Charland vs Mr. Saito Afa vs NWA World Tag Team Champion Jacques Rougeau Sika vs The Spoiler APRIL 6TH (ORLANDO, FL) MAIN EVENT NWA WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP Ric Flair © vs Super Strong Machine #1 NWA WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP The Rougeau Brothers © vs The Missing Link & Terry Taylor (w/Sherri Martel) NWA INTERNATIONAL TV CHAMPIONSHIP Gino Brito © vs Steve Strong The Wild Samoans vs NWA International Heavyweight Champion Terry Funk & Mr. Saito Nick Bockwinkel vs Bob Backlund MYSTERY GUEST REFEREE LETHAL LOTTERY Mad Dog Lefebvre & Luke Williams vs Gilles Poisson & Baron Von Raschke Richard “Le Magnifique” Charland (w/Frenchy Martin) vs Billy Robinson (w/Sherri Martel) Butch Miller vs Rip Oliver APRIL 7TH (BRATTLEBORO, VT) MAIN EVENT NWA WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP GAUNTLET MATCH Ric Flair © vs NWA International Heavyweight Champion Terry Funk vs Super Strong Machine #1 vs Rip Oliver vs Sika NWA World Tag Team Champion Jacques Rougeau vs Mad Dog Lefebvre (w/Frenchy Martin) Billy Robinson & Terry Taylor vs Bolshevik Revolution (Baron Von Raschke & Alexis Smirnoff) Mr. Saito vs The Missing Link Larry Zbyszko vs Strong Machine #2 Strong Machine #3 vs Randy Rose (w/Jim Cornette) Afa vs Boris Zhukov Tom Brandi vs The Great Kabuki (w/Eddy “The Brain” Creatchman) *****COMMERCIAL BREAK***** MAIN EVENT The Bolshevik Revolution (w/Baron Von Raschke) vs Terry Taylor & Bob Backlund (subbing for Bob Sweetan, w/Sherri Martel) As expected, not a nice reaction from the audience towards the Bolshevik Revolution, with Baron Von Raschke constantly waving the Soviet flag at ringside – with Von Raschke being described by the broadcast team as a Bolshevik sympathizer. Taylor & Backlund are working surprisingly well, considering Backlund being a last-minute replacement and the technical skills of this team are definitely a trouble early on for Alexis Smirnoff & Boris Zhukov. However, an inopportune miscue looks to be changing the fortune of the Bolshevik Revolution as Backlund inadvertently knocked Terry Taylor on the apron with a right hand as Taylor was holding back Backlund. Eventually, the makeshift team completely falls apart and the match goes to the advantage of the Bolsheviks when Taylor and Backlund get into a shoving match and come to blows! Even Sherri Martel gets involved and low blows Backlund! Taylor then hits his flying forearm smash, knocking out Backlund! Sherri then instructs Taylor to leave the ring and the Sensational obliges! Backlund is then easy pickings for the Bolshevik Revolution as they finish off the All-American standout wrestler with a backbreaker/2nd rope elbow drop combo, allowing Smirnoff to secure the victory! The ending of the show is an all-too familiar sight recently for the audience; the Bolshevik Revolution draping the body of Bob Backlund with the Soviet flag while celebrating! Winners: The Bolshevik Revolution À LA SEMAINE PROCHAINE SI DIEU LE VEUT!

Loved the Davey Boy vs Chris Adams TV main event. This tag match will assuredly steal the show at Wrestlemania!

Speaking of which, the TEW injury database is also excellent to provide the reason of the injury! Of course, some are more realistic than others but still!
-
Love seeing Kimura running roughshod over UWF!

Great. Thanks!

Updated my part in the injury wire. Quick question: do we have to change the protected names in the game every month (like replacing the injured name with one in our protection list) or can we protect the same names?

That's how I prefer it, no saves and no pre warning. If injury happens it's immediate. You can do an angle or something, but companies don't get to plan out there injuries in real life. Posted the injury wire... I understand the logic here... but the only reason I offered up what I did was to even out the 36 for the dice portion of it. You can still lose Martel for 6 months if he gets picked... just one of those chances. I'd like to keep some realm of control on it as some may lose interest if their number one star or favorite person is out for six-months... especially with there being no certified shelf-life of the game in general. Why not use a random number generator instead of dice then? Losing a number one star would make the game more fun in my book. Yeah, use Random.org to do this instead of a dice. It's a genuine random software. As for my suggestion, I totally understand, thus why I said it might be unpopular. But whatever we settle with, I'm fine.
-
My suggestion might not be very popular but...why not only randomize from our whole roster (minus jobbers & managers) who gets injured? I know this might throw a monkey wrench in our plans (hell, I'll admit that losing Rick Martel for 6 months would suck) but think about how this could make the comeback story interesting. Anyway, just throwing it out there.

That could be interesting. Why not.

Always a delight to read!

Always great to see Smokey Mountain Wrestling in action. Looking forward to an eventual rematch between Don Kernodle and Ron Starr!

You're all set.

You're set.

Honestly, the only thing I'm really, really gonna be rigorous in my game will be about wrestler's retirements (at least those I know of lol) & deaths (for instance, I'm losing Mad Dog Lefebvre on Christmas Eve this year due to a car crash). Other than that, we can definitely stretch it a bit. Look at Patrick with Mid-Atlantic for instance. He held his first Clash of Champions a few weeks ago and the first actual Clash happened in 1988. And if you also look at Kevin with the UWF, I think this happened only around 1986 or 1987 so to me, that's not really a big deal if events aren't historically accurate. (Need I remind you that the Johnny Rougeau Memorial Cup is a pure figment of my imagination! ) So, personally, if you wanna go ahead with Survivor Series and Royal Rumble in some capacity earlier than historically, have a blast. I don't think anyone will object to that.

Continental Championship Wrestling March 1985
SirEdger replied to GeneJackson95's topic in Promotions
I can only imagine who would've been able to beat Brody & Hansen for the titles if it hadn't been for that Dusty Finish. Solid card again! -
Agreed. Look, we all have our touch of "unrealism" in our projects and this is what that makes it so fun. Don't beat yourself over your head for that. Keep doing what you do, we all enjoy it!
-
Nice rehash of the David Von Erich/Jimmy Garvin/Sunshine angle! Looking forward to what will ensue from this!
-
Early prediction (I'll probably be wrong) but I pick Los Brazos to win it!

I was wondering what you were talking until I saw the pic! -
Not familiar with all the names in there but from those I know, that's a rock solid roster right there!

Pretty sure that Vince was fuming at the crowd reaction for Dino Bravo at Maple Leaf Gardens!
