My first incursion into OZ as it seems like heading into the match, Shida was unveiled as a mystery partner for Matsumoto & Yamashita. Matsumoto & Yamashita enter the match as OZ Academy tag team champions. And it seems as well like the memo for this match is it's "Beat Up Yamashita Even If She's Your Tag Team Partner" as Shida immediately whacks Yamashita with her kendo stick upon entering the ring - which prompts everyone to beat her up to start the match - which is contested under 2 out of 3 Falls rules. The mistreatment of Yamashita even by her partners is a recurrent theme in the match, including a Tower of Doom Spot as Yamashita is attempting a superplex in the corner and Matsumoto comes to grab her and after a few moments of arguing, Matsumoto powerbombs her on the mat. I don't know if it was to give some big time feel to it but for the first half of the match, Hikaru Shida is rather absent as the tags revolve around Matsumoto and Yamashita. The elder of the match, Mayumi Ozaki, spends a relatively good chunk of time in the ring throughout the match but her offense mostly is comprised of strikes from the backhanded variety and constantly using her chain while Yukihi and Anou are gonna use their whips on a few occasions - which will eventually incite Shida to interjerct herself and start using her kendo stick on a few occasions. The heels get the first fall of the match after pounding on Yamashita for the most part and later on, Matsumoto gets to tie it up for her team, heading into the 3rd and final fall. As the match progresses, it looks like Yamashita is gaining the confidence of her partners but the end comes after Ozaki uses the Red Mist to blind Yamashita and score the victorious fall for her team. I mostly got into this match because I wanted to see what Shida was doing in Japan while she wasn't being used in AEW and I thought it was a fun little match. Given it was my first time watching an OZ match, I probably would've been more into all the shenanigans if I had watched other footage from the promotion earlier but it didn't deter me from enjoying what I saw. I'll try to seek out other matches from Shida's recent excursion back in Japan.

If Vince fired staff from Triple H's team that would've been likely to take over for Kevin Dunn once he took over, what else could he realistically do? Until he can find someone to do the job, he kinda has to bite the bullet and stick with Dunn. Yes, it's deflating but I don't believe both Dunn & Bruce Prichard are nearly as harmful as they were when Vince was in charge. Now they got to answer to Triple H & Stephanie, not Vince. Big difference. Dunn can't get away now with refusing to push a woman because "she's not fuckable enough".

The coffin was empty before Brody even entered. I suspect that he was hiding under the ring for the start of the show and when the lights went out for the House of Black to appear, he crawled into the coffin for his spot.

I don't have any doubt that Santos on his own could flourish on the main roster but I'd be lying if I said that I didn't want the entire Legado de Fantasma to be called up. Also expecting Mandy get back on the main roster incessantly but I'll be a bit sad once Toxic Attraction ends. That made wonders for Gigi & Jacy and I'm a little surprised they're not the ones in the Women's Tag Team Title tournament on the Smackdown bracket instead of Nikkita Lyons & Zoey Stark.

Yes, you were. -During the Kevin Owens promo in the background, we could see a car that had crashed in a cement wall. Nikki ASH & Doudrop were seen in the background talking with some people about it. -Later in the show, right before the main event, when Alexa Bliss & Asuka cut their promo to hype their match vs Nikki ASH & Doudrop next week in the women tag title tournament, they were interrupted by Bayley's crew and in the background, you could still see the car getting towed with police officers and EMTs. At one point, the security & police officers stormed right past Alexa & Asuka - which also prompted Bayley, Dakota Kai & IYO to walk away from the scene, leading up to AJ Styles, going to the ring for the main event -After the match, when AJ Styles celebrated the win, they never focused on the police officers arresting someone. They just made sure that we had enough time to figure out and realize that it was Dexter Lumis - thus, letting us connect the dots from the last 90 minutes of the show. So, either they're setting up Dexter Lumis vs AJ Styles or they're prepping the ground work for a certain someone formerly affiliated to Dexter to feud with AJ Styles.

I loved the way (no pun intended) they re-introduced Dexter back. From the moment, we saw that crashed car in the background during KO's promo, I thought something was about to happen. Is Dexter doing groundwork to prepare the impending return of Johnny Wrestling?

The problem that Marc Mero got was that he couldn't be Johnny B. Badd in WWF. Vince McMahon wanted Johnny B. Badd, not "Wildman" Marc Mero. And we saw what happened.
