WWE TV 02/01 - 02/07 PALMEIRAS IS THE LIBERTADORES DA AMERICA CHAMPION
Dav'oh replied to KawadaSmile's topic in WWE
This is not a wrestling show. I don't know how I'd categorise it, maybe "light variety"? They've got quite the gall using "sports" and "entertainment" as their descriptors. -
Isn't it quicker to type "lie", than search for and select a passive-aggressive emoji? Also, there's a difference between "mistaken" and "lying". I don't consider Dave Meltzer to be a liar.

Open with Goldberg, close with Edge. What fucking year is it in Vince's addled head?

Given how many middle-aged men with waning natural testosterone levels have to appear jakked~! on WWE TV, I'm guessing PED usage is as high as ever.

1'45" between Dolph and Shin's buzzers...1'40" between Shin and Carlito...

I put my Rumble dollar on Big E at 13/1. It was either him or Wyatt at 11/1 (or Jay White at 34/1 ).

Kojima and Ospreay working a TLC match is weird. Does Ospreay's spine need to be doing this against Kojima of all people? Run Baba Run @ 9/1in the seventh at Cranbourne on the laptop....led early, faded badly. I'll try get me dollar back with Luchador @ 4/1 in the ninth at the Gardens

Not sure if the Great O-Khan should have curly-toed boots or furry boots, is what I took out of the Mongolian Chop match with Tenzan. Not expecting much from this card but it's on at a friendly time. Big Bash Cricket on the idiot box and NJPW on the desktop. Can't go wrong.

The Thread Killer Talks Too Much: The Recaps
Dav'oh replied to The Thread Killer's topic in Pro Wrestling
I imagine the viewing experience when you're recapping something with pencil and paper/keyboard in hand, is different to just putting yer feet up and indulging in your vice of choice while watching. (Recapping/reviewing is not something I've done, but I've been meaning to have a stab at it.) I probably noticed the hokey/staged bits at the time, but I didn't remember them afterwards. I just took things at face-value (the suspension of disbelief, as mentioned in an earlier post) and was rooting for the hero. But I didn't watch it knowing people wanted my analysis. Great, great job and I thank you. I don't envy you - how long does a 90 min doco end up being when you're recapping it? - but I do thank you. -
"The Wall Street Journal have cited a source claiming it is worth $1 billion over five years."

Thank-you. I dug further to see where I went wrong and Wiki says he was scheduled to beat Dory before a disputed truck accident, which I'm sure I read somewhere way-back. I was also fairly certain the Dory and Jack had a memorable feud, so I put two and two together and got five.

I'd been a Reds fan since I was four and there was no way this majestic club were losing to a bunch of thugs headlined by by Vinnie Jones hark ptui and the Crazy Gang. Never even entered my thoughts. I've had India as the best team in the world for a few years now. Losing the series, losing at the Gabba didn't surprise me. There's 700 million males in India to fill eleven spots. Their developmental program is the toughest in world cricket, so anyone who makes it - even as a fill-in - is sure to be class. Was Brisco over Dory Jr an upset? Jericho over Austin and Rock in the same night? I feel better comparisons are right under our noses.

Dunno if anyone remembers Sting beating up a twelve-year old (didn't air in my catchment area), but a synopsis reads: Sting serves him an ass whooping for the ages, slamming him to the ground, chucking him through an open bay door, and using his body to sweep a myriad of decorative objects off his parent's mantle. As an anti-Stinger, I reckon this is as good as I've seen him wrestle since 1992

Australia beating the US in the America's Cup yacht-boating back in '83, or Wimpleton over Liverpool in the 1988 FA Cup Final come to mind. Wrestletravel has been popping up in my Facey-feed, but given they're Brit-based I don't know if they can help an antipodean like me. Looking at Mania 39 in LA, as I want to get to Mania before I'm 50 (Madison Square Garden is still Mecca for me, but the days of regular shows there seem gone. I'd take an MSG house-show over 'Mania, because MSG was the dream well before 'Mania).

For context : A depleted Indian side whose attack had 13 Test-match scalps between them (the Aussies,1033), whose batsmen had been dismissed for 37 (!) in Adelaide, whose captain had gone home for family reasons, did this: "Winning in Australia is just bloody hard; winning at the Gabba (Wooloongabba, Brisbane) leaves you bloodier still. Not that many can remember, it has been 32 years after all. The pitch suits the Australian way, the weather conditions melt most opponents. Ask a cricketer who has won down under and he will rate it right up there. Find one who has triumphed at the Gabba and the grin will run from ear to ear. It is difficult to explain why but it is like every single damn thing goes against you in Australia, which, of course, it only does because the Aussies are winning and in this game you make your own luck. Australians hunt as a pack, without mercy. They taunt, they swagger, they play darn good cricket, and then they arrive in Brisbane and turn it up so loud, it becomes unbearable...Tuesday's three-wicket triumph over Australia that secured the series 2-1 in favour of the tourists is already referred to as "a win for the ages", "the greatest series victory ever" and "the greatest moment in Indian Test history"." - Mark Nicholas, cricket scribe. If that wasn't cause enough for celebration, they've got WWE Superstar Spectacle to look forward to as well (he said, trying to throw some wrestling in here )

Where does Miro buy his tracksuits?

Where does Jake Roberts buy his shirts?

Just caught this and I don't know if it's par for the course, pot-stirring or a definite sign. This is the entire article: "Jay White is no longer on NJPW’s official roster page. The roster page for NJPW’s official website no longer lists White." (That redundancy was brought to you by 411wrestling.)

I've never understood "Scott Hall = untapped creative potential". The only people I've ever heard lionising him are his best mates (who just happen to be world-class bullshit artists). I'm not buying a one-off "Hey, Sting. Brandon Lee's Crow gimmick is cool. I can't steal it but you should" as proof of anything but laziness - he didn't actually come up with anything himself; there's not a hint of originality, just plagiarism. His portrayal of the Razor character was nicked straight from a film, too, come to think of it. And maybe his demons gave him what is considered his creativity? Either way, he comes across as a post-coma Gordy these days so I don't think he'd be able to contribute much. I'd give Heyman a shot at storylines (meh, why not? (rhetorical question)) and use Cornette for finishes.
