  2. Rich with a solid opening win. Steve looks Stunning in his first match in Memphis. Orndorff's ego costs him. The Steiners out-grapple the Grapplers. The Junkyard Dog in in Memphis and sinks his teeth right into Dutch. Savage looks downright bipolar in his treatment of Elizabeth. The king appeared to be taking something rather seriously tonight.
  3. Teddy Long has brought Doom to WCW. Hart adds another Samoan to the ranks. Sid is on a rampage. What an ending with the arrival of Curt Hennig.
  4. July 19, 1990 Albert L. Gutterson Fieldhouse in Burlington, Vermont. Live on NBC We get our now customary series of promos. The Genius recites a poem about removing masks and revealing truths. Tito Santana promises to put up a fight worthy of the Gods. The Rougeaou's vow to make Canada proud. Bad News says Nailz is gonna curse the day he was let out of lockup. Dusty Rhodes says his Dream Team will make sure no Texas Outlaw leaves the War Zone! Hair vs Mask match. Poffo was struggling and squirming something fierce as they put him in the chair and took the clippers to him. The Berzerker w/Bobby "The Brain" Heenan defeats Tito Santana via countout. As the two were brawling on the floor, Santana looked to go for a bulldog but Berzerker shoved him off and he ran into the ring post. A big boot puts Santana down and Berzerker is able to beat the count. Before the next match, the camera turns to an empty seat with a reserved sign on it. We've seen it a couple of times tonight and now we finally see the sign being moved and the seat is taken by.....SHERRI MARTEL!! The Rougeaou's come down waving the Quebec flag as per usual. The parade around the ring until The Commonwealth comes down to the ring. The Rougeaou's and Martin clear the ring. Dynamite Kid takes the mic and says they've already taken one set of tag titles from the brothers might as well go 2 for 2. He looks bigger and badder than ever and he's pounding away on Brown. He whips Brown into the corner and absolutely crushes him. Brown falls in a heap but OMG isn't done. He drags Brown's carcass to the center of the ring and hits the big "747"...and a second....and a third. He looks to be going for a fourth but security finally work up the nerve to get in the ring Before the main event, we see a promo package for SummerSlam which will air live on pay Per View August 17th from historic Fenway Park in Boston! Howard Finkel breaks down the rules for the main event. Each team will send its members in one at a team. The first stage will last 5 minutes with all subsequent stages lasting 2. Once all 8 men are in the War Zone the match can only be won by pinfall, submission or surrender. War Zone Match! Order of entry Manny Fernandez & Dustin Rhodes enter first. The Texas Outlaws have Dusty handcuffed to the ropes. Murdoch Bart & Fernandez are holding off Haynes & Duggan. Funk has a bullrope around Dustin's neck and has him in a Camel Clutch position. The kid won't quit. Funk is frustrated and grabs the branding iron. He's posed to drive it into Dustin's chest when Dusty starts freaking out shouting....HE SURRENDERS! Earl Hebner rings the bell and quickly places himself on top of the semi-conscious Dustin just in case Funk gets any ideas. Show ends with the Outlaws celebrating while a distraught Dusty check on his son.
  5. When I look back at the early years of WCW, the York Foundation stands out as a missed opportunity. Let's see what they do in the USWA. Rich with a perfectly reasonable explanation. Hart & co are done dancing around the point. If Christopher shows up next week they'll blow the lid. Wild Bill has brought Southern Justice to the USWA and they seem to think the Southern Boys are guilty of....something. Medusa Stuns the crowd by introducing her new client. Jarrett stops counting the zeroes on York's check to lay the law down on Dirty Dutch & AOD. Another stacked card for the Mid-South Coliseum.
  6. The Club takes the easy way out. No surprise there. Regal & Sarge show solid teamwork. The Hexagon vanquish the infidels. Adams & Kawada bring victory to the League. Beautiful Bobby & Sweet Stan prove their the aces of Camp Cornette. Martel ends the night as the last man standing.
  7. Fujinami getting his shot!
  8. Night 2, let's do it! Brandi's return spells doom for the Olympians. St Clair subdues the Link. Garvin win s a straightforward match. Landel & Prichard make a Heavenly debut. Cactus finally defeats Sawyer. Keey makes a big return. The Blazing Dragons lit up the night. Wouldn't be a major AWA event without Canek putting a hurting on Gagne. Latin Desire get their belts back. Blanchard arrives and hands the world title to Flair. The Horsemen are in the AWA.
  9. Night 1 is upon us! An opening match loss seems to lead to the end of Good Vibrations. Saito shows out. Golden gets a little to big for his britches. The Storm Crew seize the big six man tag. Muraco survives an absolute war in the cage. Sammartino's win was the pick-up the crowd needed after the previous bloodbath. The Hangman gets the win but he & Neil have a large, new problem to deal with. Colon wasn't looking like a winner after Debeers went to work with that club. Hansen's return puts a swift end to Taylor's International title reign. The Enforcers close the show with the World tag titles. Is this an omen?
  10. WWF sends Bill Eadie, Barry Darsow & Tonga Kid to WCW for Masahiro Chono, Kensuke Sasaki, Scott Norton & Wahoo McDaniel. WWF also sends Tom Prichard to the AWA for One Man Gane.
  11. Originally airing July, 16, 1990. *Unless stated otherwise matches were taped at the Kingston Memorial Centre in Kingston, Ontario Canada* The Berzerker wins via count-out after tossing some dude's carcass over the top rope. Split screen promo has him declare that Santana unworthy of a warrior's death and at SNME he'll be put down like a wild dog. A Silver King win from Wrestling Challenge is shown. A subtitled split screen see's him say he's bought sunglassesto protect him from the glare coming off Poffo's soon to be bald head. Event Center with Mooney: Snuka & Andre says they're ready to shake things up in the tag division while Fuji announces he's begun the process of selecting Vader's victim at Summerslam. Hiro Hase takes the win with the "Northern Lights" suplex. There's definitely something to be done with him...but what? The Rougeaou's make some jobber feel the "Quebec Crunch". Mean Gene gives a full breakdown of the card at SNME. Main Event. War Zone Match The Dream Team (Dusty Rhodes, Dustin Rhodes, Jim Duggan & ?) vs The Texas Outlaws (Terry Funk, Manny Fernandez, Dick Murdoch & Black Bart) Bad News Brown vs Nailz w/"The Doctor of Style" Slick "WWF Canadian Tag Team Championship" The Fabulous Rougeaou Brothers (Jaqcues & Raymond)(c?) w/"Le Commandant" Frecnchy Martin vs ? & ? Tito Santana vs The Berzerker w/Bobby "The Brain" Heenan Hair vs Mask Silver King vs The Genius Brutus "The Barber" Beefcake takes "a little off the top" of some no name. Feature match. Winner's team takes the advantage in the War Zone. "Raging Bull" Manny Fernandez defeats "The American Dream" Dusty Rhodes after Funk ran down and whacked Rhodes with the branding iron.
  12. I took celebrate the return of the figures. It's kinda funny to me imagining the pop that the Canadian Owen and the British Smith would've gotten beating an American team of the US tag title at the Great American Bash. The Freebirds pick up a Nasty win. Sid certainly impressed tonight. Hall Crushes it in the TV title match, Gignate picks up the win for his team but as a Vicious new opponent to look out for, Paul E's mistake costs him dearly. Sting finally puts Nikita behind him and can focus entirely on Luger. Speaking of whom, Luger retains cleanly but the Stinger runs him off during the post match assault. The Rockers put an exclamation point on their feud with the Road Warriors.
  13. Oakland. Harlem heat is truly sizzling. The SOB's are back on the (surf)board. Bad night for Cornette's men. Lightning doesn't strike twice for Lynn. Regal finally scores a win over the Monster. There's an incomplete sentence at the bottom of the post. San Francisco. The feud between Bigelow and Awesome continues to be a highlight. The League looks strong this loop. Classic cheap win from the Club. The TV title still resides on Powerhouse Hill. The Collective's main trio continue to Terrorize their respective divisions. Fresno. The Thillseekers even the score. This is just not Cornette's week. Severn & Albright renew an old rivalry. Azul just shot himself to the top of the LHW rankings. Camp Cornette gets to leave the loop with some dignity at least. Some very interesting Squadron Battles coming up in Salt Lake City.
  14. The Freebirds and the Nasty Boys are such a contrast, it's fun just to visualize them together. Sid has arrived! What a Bash we're in for.
  15. Budro goes out on top. Assassin manages to get the fans on Rich's side. A somewhat more respectful Macho Man holds onto the gold. Bossman is on a serious roll. Hart's screwing over the Southern Boys blows up in his face leading him to get pinned by Christopher. The night ends with a massive brawl in the ring but the most interesting part is who didn't take a side.
  16. I'm using wrestlingdata.com for the schedule.
  17. Originally airing July 9, 1990. *Unless stated otherwise matches were taped at the JFK Coliseum in Manchester NH* Tito Santana K.O's some dude with a flying forearm. Split screen sees Santana vow to give Berzerker his viking funeral at SNME. Jake Roberts spikes a guy with the DDT. Split screen promo sees Jake tell Kevin threats to his crown are around every corner and some of them have already beaten him. Mean Gene announces that Dusty has filled two spots of his "Dream Team" for the War Zone match at SNME with his son Dustin and his close ally, Jim Duggan. Rumors abound as to who the fourth and final member could be with Andre the Giant & Jimmy Snuka being frequently mentioned. Tugboat sinks another with the "Capsize". Nailz puts some sap to sleep. It's announced that Nailz will go one-on-one with Bad News Brown at SNME. Koko B. Ware gets some shine. The Fabulous Rougeaou Brothers promise to prove once again why the WWF Candian Tag Team Championships is the most prestigious prize in all of tag team wrestling when issue another open challenge for SNME. In the Feature Match, Jimmy Snuka defeats Curtis Hughes by DQ when Slick interferes. Nailz runs down for a 2 on 1 but Bad News comes down to even the odds. After the heels retreat, Snuka offers Brown a handshake but Brown leaves him hanging.
  18. Lawler is just not buying Rich's pleas of innocence. Jarrett declares that Dutch has to pay up. Hot Stuff gets to boast he's the best wrestler on TV, and he's got a shot to be the best in the world. Hart's fat mouth just wrote a check that I have a feeling his & Honky's asses can't cash. There's that classic Memphis brawl!
  19. The intensity between Sting & Nikita is at record levels. The Diamond Stud is shining as TV champion. So much hype for big Sid. Steamboat & Muta are heading for a classic.
  20. Portland night 1. The League are really starting to stand out. Coast 2 Coast with a close-run win. Hamrick & Douglas are leading the new generation. The Blondes somewhat even the score with the SOBs. Night 2. Blackman proves he hasn't lost focus on the Submission title. Dr Death vs Lethal Larry sounds like a 90s comic book. Another successful defenses for Busick. Atlas avenges his partner. The Hart/Piper alliance continues to vex the Playboy Club. The Man of Means takes the cheap way out. Eugene. Stormfront and the Thunder Dragons both shine in tag action. Severn puts the Stallion to sleep. The OWC keep the Collective's title collection intact. Hashimoto busts the Body. Condrey stifles Hamrick's rise.

  22. I always love the work you put into these previews. Appreciate you acknowledging the Enforcer's originally targeting Lawler during the USWA period.
  23. Fire on the Mountain is shaping up to be one of the hottest show of the summer.
  24. originally airing on June 2, 1990. *Unless stated otherwise matches were taped at the Cumberland County Civic Center in Portland, Maine* Match #1 (RAW) Hiro Hase defeats Chris Duffy with a "Northern Lights" suplex. WWF Update: It's announced that the next Saturday Night's Main Event will feature the return of the War Zone match as Dusty Rhodes' Dream Team face all four members of the Texas Outlaws. Match #2 Billy Jack Haynes defeats Barry Hardy with the Full Nelson. Match #3 (Wrestling Challenge) Silver King defeats The Genius with a "La Magistral" cradle. Genius is fuming and attacks SK after the bell which ends with him stealing SK's mask! Thankfully one of the security guards lets SK use his shirt to cover his face. In the Event Center Sean Mooney reveals that Silver King has demanded another match with The Genius and he's gotten it. At SNME it will be Silver King vs The Genius one more time....Mask vs Hair! Match #4 (Wrestling Challenge) "The Mastodon" Vader defeats Battle Kat with the "Vader Bomb". Match #5 Ranger Ross defeats El Gato with the "Combat Kick" Promotime with Money! Slick says Bad News never was smart enough to realize a good business deal when he saw it. Tito Santana says he's going to run The Berzerker all the way to Valhalla. Feature Match. Haku w/Bobby "The Brain" Heenan defeats The Tonga Kid with the "Tongan Death Grip".
  25. So much for that Honky face turn. Dundee save Christopher's life and beats Landel. Big night for the Superstar. AOD takes the L but still saves his boss. Orndorff finds out who's the Boss in Memphis. The Tri-State title match ends in a draw but what everyone will be focusing on is Madusa and her new friend. The Hammer & Anvil capture the Southern tag straps capping off an all-around great night for the First Family. Savage retains but his treatment o Elizabeth is winning him no fans. The Steiners put an exclamation point on their feud with Doom. The King bests the Bounty Hunter while Wildfire looks on.
