What fucks me up is that I always thought the Aaron Burr milk commercial was a lot more recent than it was.

Watching a DDP interview from 1999 Nitro and he has a Hollywood Squares hat on. A fucking Hollywood Squares hat and it has an autograph on it. I can't make out the name but I don't think it is Shadow Stevens.

Late 70s - early - 80s seems fair. Also, Parv, we have been working on the 80s project for almost a decade. There is still a ton of stuff we need to find but Childs and I have seen enough Andre to know that as great as he was at selling and bumping for big men, he could also bore the tears out of you with extended nerve holds and bear hugs even before he was a shell of himself in the Rock N Roll era. Phil Schneider is not a fan of face Andre but sees no wrong in heel Andre. How many places at his peak did Andre work heel? Japan for sure but anywhere else. Some people like Matt D and Phil even like horrible old broken down heel Andre. He isn't getting a raw deal here.

I re-read the introduction post from Jayme and it was clear he was talking about in ring work. Andre is the biggest drawing Big Man in history, He wins. However, in the ring, different story. He has a harder path to climb and it isn't because there is a lack of footage. It is because for those of us who have seen peak Andre, we saw bad matches as often as we saw good matches. Also, there is a comp of Andre out there... I think 9 or 10 discs. My Vader comp was 18 discs. Could have been longer. Could have been tighter. That's still plenty of hours from both guys to give a fair evaluation.

When we talk about who is better, I never think about it in terms of drawing money. We aren't arguing numbers, we are arguing the aesthetics and personal preferences. Who was the bigger draw... Andre or Vader? Doesn't exactly lead to much discussion since the entire question can be answered with one word. Who is better is almost always a question of in-ring output.

If Andre's career is incomplete to the point that we can't judge him against other wrestlers then he shouldn't have been name dropped in the Best Big Man thread.

Wait a minute... it was ok to namedrop Andre in the best big man ever thread but when you put him head to head with Vader, it's unfair? It's a poll. Head to head. There is absolutely nothing "unfair" about it.
