  3. I think the Cena and Angle matches were equally devastating. I think the Angle match was compounded by the fact that Jericho and Benoit lost the same night when it was a show pushing the new guard. For Cena, it was decent but I think people rave on it because it is a decent match from a guy who had few of them for as long as his career has been. Also, I think when he beat up Cena, it was at a time when they really needed to put more top guys in the mix and it took another two years before Cena was accepted at that level. For Angle, he came around much quicker.

  5. The Pitbulls/Raven-Richards match is a mess. Great angles surrounding a crappy match. You know, I don't think I have seen any of the Eddie-Malenko matches either.

  7. Well, after reading Loss's review of Rey-Psichosis, I don't think it was the work that killed his enjoyment but the crowd. When I saw most of these matches, I would have the volume down low because I would watch wrestling late at night in the bedroom while my wife was asleep. Then, when you turn up the volume, you realize how dead or beligerent or annoying a crowd can be. It is also why I can stomach the earlier ROH matches moreso than you guys. I may have been handicapped when watching the matches but I had already adapted to watching wrestling that way.

  9. I actually liked the Rey-Psichosis matches but for different reasons... it was my first non-WCW exposure to them. As for 1995, I remember trying forever hunting down a copy of Double Tables for the Benoit-Snow match. I was let down. It was ok but not as mind-blowing as I was led to believe. I don't even remember being happy that it was on the Benoit DVD. I think the best part of ECW in this time-frame has to be the Mick Foley interviews and promos. I hav an old RF tape... Cactus Jack in ECW: Second Stage that highlights his time there as well as the ECW Best of Cactus Jack. Even when the matches sucked, Foley was still entertaining.

  11. It also doesn't help that some of his biggest profile matches were against slugs like Yokozuna, Brian Lee, and Giant Gonzales.

  13. OK, and this is what am I trying to get from you... is the Summerslam match the best Taker match ever?
  14. Loss, didn't you already assert that Taker's best match was the One Night Only match?
  15. I find it funny you used the quote boxes when bitching about it to me before. Just an observation. The Hell In A Cell match was more than just an excuse for Kane to show up. It was Taker taking out his anger on an HBK who had pissed him off throughout that 1997 television AND the Summerslam match. I actually like the HIAC MORE after watching Ground Zero than I did before. The only glaring problem is the Kane intro. You failed to comment on the Brock matchup. I don't understand your Cena comment since I already said I didn't like the match. Right now, I am leaning toward the One Night Only match. It cuould also be one Of the Hell In A Cell matches. Still, the point remains... SS '98 is NOT Taker's best match.
  16. Recap from WO on Heyman and Dreamer on Byte This...
  17. No, not just by Loss. Matches that are listed on the DVD itself (the HBK and Brock HIACs) and others mentioned including the One Night Only match you just talked about and that was also already mentioned previously. The RVD series was more enjoyable on initial viewing but I haven't seen those matches since 2001. I haven't seen the Angle or Orton match that Loss mentioend and remember not liking the Hardy match. I'll have to rewatch the Mankind series. I just glanced at the ROT match the other day but didn't pay attention to it. I don't remember liking the boiler room match or buried alive. Ground Zero set up HIAC and was better than Summerslam 98. When I get the SS 97 disc next week, I'll rewatch that match and see how it compares to the Summerslam 98 match. The Cena Vengeance 2003 match gets raves but I didn't really like it. I am not disputing that SS 98 is probably one of Taker's better matches (in a career with surprisingly few good ones) but in no way is it Taker's best match which you asserted. Maybe it is Taker's best match with Austin. I could live with that.
  18. This is NOT Undertaker's best match. There have been several listed in this thread that smoke that match.

    1990 WCW

Slightly off-topic: I love this idea!!!! And if we incorporate each discussion thread with a Chronicles thread to compile match lists, this could really be awesome.
