The sequence of the stipulations of the matches does them no favors either. If they were going to continue these, they should have held the unsanctioned match as the feud ender and just had them escalate the violence to the point where WWE wouldn't want anything to do with them and just let them go at each other.
-
I didn't think the match was that bad, but it was far from being as good as their previous matches. Like I said before, I thought Ciampa rolling off the ramp and landing on his feet was cool, but the entire Gargano running knee was pretty lame.
-
Say what you will, but that was a clever finish. Edit: Ciampa rolling off the ramp to land on his feet.

I'm guessing Kairi winning frees Shayna from the NXT women's title match at the PPV and allows her to join the other MMA 4 Horsewomen vs. WWE 4 Horsewomen match.
-
Well done. I didn't think she would win after the elbow drop kickouts.
-
Same. I don't get EC3 either.

I saw Darby and Janela have a fans bring the weapons match in MLW some months ago that I don't think made video and I'd say it was a notch above this. This was OK for what it was, but I wasn't particularly blown away by it. The first half of it just felt there and the second half with the Austin Theory run in made sense for the storyline, but it felt thrown just thrown together and the reckless reverse brainbuster head drop on the ring apron was gross, but that's what got a reaction for the most part.

Every Penta match is the exact same now (sans the Sami Callihan Slammiversary match) -- "zero miedo" pose, chops, sling blade, super kick, sling blade, "zero miedo" pose, super kick, dual super kick, "this is awesome" *clap, clap, clap, clap, clap," sling blade, super kick, dive from someone, package piledriver on the ring apron, 2.99, "zero miedo" pose, super kick, sling blade, package piledriver on the ring, 3 count.

This was alright. Loved Claudio's performance here as he was cool ragdolling Fish in some bits and landing some brutal lariats and European uppercuts on Fish while also taking some brutal shots from Fish in exchange. Aside from that, Fish didn't really do much for me and thought this was pretty standard.

This is exactly what you would expect from these 2. Endless Jr. fighting spirit exchange epics and such. I personally didn't like this, but if you're a fan of either guy, then I'm sure you'd get a kick out of it.

This is from the first EVOLVE show, EVOLVE 1. It's not particularly groundbreaking, but it's definitely fun, it doesn't overstay it's welcome as it finishes at the right time and they don't go overboard into overkill with the endless 2.99 kick outs of finishers. There isn't particularly a whole lot of selling of story telling as it's more of an exhibition with some fast paced exchanges. Some cool stuff from both, namely Sawa's baseball punch, a great drop toe hold into a back take transition into an armbar and a rapid manjigatame from Sawa.

Are you solely looking for how gimmick matches evolved in WWE or elsewhere, too? In the 80's the Starrcade cards would usually feature a ton of feud ending gimmick matches. Also, in the 90's, gimmick matches were a staple in smaller Japanese indy organizations as they gave their cards a unique feel opposite to the straight up matches you would normally get in the bigger organizations. ECW followed that aforementioned model.

I honestly don't want and am not trying to be rude, but you clearly missed the point. Go back and read the responses from the last 2-3 pages on the matter and you will see what I was getting at.

[2008-01-19-JAPW-Reclaiming Hudson] Teddy Hart vs Eddie Kingston vs Homicide
Edwin replied to Loss's topic in January 2008
What a match. Just the pure chaos you would come to expect from a Jersey All Pro match featuring Teddy Hart and Homicide. They spend about 2 minutes in the ring and this spills to the floor and all of them are just randomly brawling in the crowd. Tons of crowd brawling with face punching, chairs flying, Teddy just moonsaulting off different things, Homicide breaking bottles on the basketball hardwood floor while chasing Teddy. Chaos, just utter chaos. Then they return to the ring and it's not as chaotic, but they still bring the brutality. There's this spot where King and Teddy sit on chairs in front of each other and they trade kendo stick shots before King just blasts Teddy with a nasty lariat. Teddy also takes nasty brainbuster on a chair from Homicide.- 1 reply

Old, but watch this. It features Teddy Hart vs. Homicide vs. Eddie Kingston in a Three Way New Jersey Street Fight. GCW and MLW are dropping the ball by booking Teddy and Homicide on the same show and not having them interact.

It sounds a bit harsh, but it's accurate. MMA fans are the same. They rag on the UFC for having CM Punk fight on their cards, yet they forget PRIDE was heavily influenced by pro-wres. and there was a lot of freak show fights going on there, yet they act as if there wasn't any fixed fights and every fight was a straight up even fight between the highest ranked fighters at the moment.
