Same rating as me Pete, so you might want to adjust yours up or down 1/4*.

Reviewed Kyle O'Reilly vs El Phantasmo from January 14, 2017 in ECCW. Don't sleep on this MOTY contest. https://prowrestlingsuperblog.wordpress.com/2017/01/17/kyle-oreilly-vs-el-phantasmo-eccw-1142017/

Yes to Andrews vs Dunn I thought it wss a great contrast of styles and an awesome story. Both were top notch

Nominating El Phantasmo vs Kyle O'Reilly (ECCW 1/14/2017) KOR returns to his hometown and promotion for a title shot and the crowd is nuts for this. El Phantasmo seems to be one of the best high flyers in the world and I've never seen him before. Seriously he does a rope walk moonsault to the floor and a dropkick from turnbuckle to corner diagonally across the ring. Just insane.. KOR worked his ass off keeping the match super dramatic and intense. KOR was just on another level working in his hometown. I'd say this is the best match I've seen all year (maybe on par with Yehi-Henry, but the crowd is super hot here). Easy nomination.

Coming out on switch and fixing universe mode is all I care about.

You are forgetting a NXT call up could be the person too on Raw. There are rumours that Joe is coming up in a big role for Mania, so maybe Joe vs Taker? That sounds like a bad idea right there. Would I watch if BattlArts Taker shows up? Totes but if Cena isn't getting the match then Joe definitely shouldn't. Not saying it's a good idea, just one that fits in with the clues.

Odd choice, but what about Terry Funk vs Sabu vs Shane Douglas? Kind of a legendary deal that everybody talked about and put ECW on the map. Also, triple threats have become a real staple since then.

I thought the tournament was really good. Slow start, but it was set up for a great run. Dunne's semi and finals were both really great matches.

Pete Dunne vs Tyler Bate from the finals of the UK Tournament. A great story with Bate's arm injury, but just great work all around. Love this match!
-
The Snuka vs Muraco feud has many awesome matches. Completely under-rated

Can't wait!

Yeah I'm on board for a couple of months now. Lots of good will built up on that two shows from BattleCade. That multi man match just made my day, there was too much fun and cool characters to not love it.

Yeah, that's a great point. Along those lines, Shawn-Razor Ladder Match at WM10 and the TLC match might deserve credit for the same thing. I think Austin-Bret WM13 would be something to look at too, ushered in the Attitude Era.

Has wrestling gone overboard with the various streaming services?

Yeah it's great. Time and money is the only thing stopping my sub on that. -
Would Jumbo-Misawa title change in 90 be anywhere on this list? Seems like a huge deal at the time and in hindsight. I am curious about the Hogan-Andre WM3 vs Main Event debate? Biggest crowd in arena vs biggest audience on TV at the time. Does anybody know anything about New Zealand, Austraila, other countries like India, and places in South America or whatever? Anything there? Carlos Colon drew some huge crowds in PR, any one or two matches stand out from that?

I have.. Netflix, NHL.TV, WWE Network, and FloSlam and that's it. I cut the cord on cable a decade ago now. -

I was wondering what people thought were the most important matches in different time periods and areas of the world. Things like Gotch-Hackensmidt on April 3, 1908 drew like 28,000. That's pretty damn important, but what are the matches like that in England, Mexico, Japan, etc.. ? Is Hogan-Andre at WM3 the most important or is their rematch on the Main Event with the largest audience at the time bigger?

There was a time it would had made sense, but they are past that now. He was getting super over as a babyface having long matches with Cena. That would had been the time.

So, Fatnastic Mania or whatever it is called has started. I'm very excited to see this actually and am even subscribing to NJPW World for the month. Will start watching soon.

Busy week, show and TV a few days late.

He's John the Baptist, Daniel Bryan is Jesus, and they have a lot of disciples. I think his run, when put in perspective, will look very impressive. He basically fought the system and paved the way for a lot of the current big stars to get their shot. That will gain in traction as those guys become TOP GUYS and discuss their influences. The idea that Punk paved the way for people has always been weird to me. Randy Savage was under 6 feet and got a year long reign in an era where the average guy was 6'4, 300 pounds. The 90s were built around "average" sized (comparatively, obviously) like Austin, Bret, and HBK being the top guys. The 2000s had guys like Angle, Benoit, and Eddie. He didn't do anything to fight the system. He complained about not being given the top guy stuff, then complained when he got the top guy stuff, then left, then complained some more. He didn't change the system. Bryan was going to get his title at some point even if it wasn't going to be at WM 30. There were already tons of indie guys hired and on TV that had nothing to do with Punk. WWE was hiring indie guys in the 90s, too. WWE really had no choice but to turn more to the indies for talent, because people that would have gone into wrestling a decade before were going into MMA or other sports. That wave of indie guys was coming regardless of if Punk had ever even been hired. Was it, because at the time the WWF hated indie guys and thought they worked wrong or could never make it. Punk and Bryan with all their talents were thought of as nobodies who couldn't work by the WWE and only got pushed because Punk got so over and Heyman was in his corner. The WWF was hiring athletes and training them, not turning to indies. They hired Punk but wanted to put him in the Spirit Squad and treat him like the joke they thought he was. Even when he got over they fought in for a long time. Punk paved the way.

I have no idea what rhythem game is... Creep would depend on your age. Anyone in their mid 30's would know Creep way before Motorhead.
-
Maybe not today, in the 90s and early 2000s yes. Actually there is no time from the mid 90s till today that Radiohead wasn't 2 thousands times more well known than Motorhead.
