  1. Lawlers Coke stuff is on display. I had hopes for Jenn but she looked like the Dawna clone here. Lawlers fireball wallet was hilarious.
  2. Gordy's last great match and its tragic he was only 32 as it does seem like he was around forever. he worked well vs. Kobashi's energy and Kobashi throwing out everything he could to vary his offense and take the monster down was great. I am starting to formulate my thoughts for the GWE project and while I had always pegged Misawa as my #1, the one thing Kobashi has going for him is I think he was better in singles vs. gaijin than either Misawa or Kawada. This is a good example of that as Misawa or Kawada didn't match up vs. Gordy near as well as Kobashi here. Even though they both have great stuff vs. Hansen, Kobashi series is better. The Doc stuff is more up for debate but I like the long term Kobashi vs. Doc matches better than Kawada, Misawa. Then you have his match vs. Joe which is at least equal as the Albright Kawada match. Also funny to hear Loss bring up the Dibiase debate in the early Parv days, has it been that long. ****
  3. We get Gilberts rebuttal which was fine but not up to his usual standards or the stuff we have seen from Funk lately. That being said, this feels like a big ECW angle and Im still anticipating the match.
  4. Really cool interview and a theme that would work for Razor for a while of him always being on the lookout for the upset happening and the crowds being more invested in nearfalls on him. Bret and Savage getting into the counting also helped get this over.
  5. I go back and forth between this and Perfect vs. Flair as the best match on Raw so far and actually the WWF MOTY up to this point. The hokey Doink stuff worked and his arm work here was done with some great vicious work. Perfect reached back into his AWA selling days which was nice to see too. Finish came to easy after the switch a roo. ***1/2
  6. I appreciated the slow start here as a change of pace to the other matches in this feud. Things really heat up when Fuji and Tenryu start tearing at each other and the match takes off from there. Hash vs. Tenryu feels like a money match that I am dying to see at this point and they are brawling in the crowd when Fuji is able to submit Ishikawa with the dragon sleeper. I didn't think this reached the highs of other matches in this feud but it was still damn good and the feud continues to be great overall. ***3/4
  7. Good match with a dead crowd. Davey Boy really didn't feel like a top flight star which is odd considering how on top of the world he felt the previous August. It is weird to think this is the last PPV Atlanta had until he 2002 Rumble. I don't think this killed the territory per say but this did seem to add credence to Bischoff seemingly being ashamed of running big shows here for a while. I liked this match and the power moves performed and thought both guys looked better coming out than going in. In addition. Larry Z did a good job calling this. Bullshit finish ruins things a bit. ***1/4
  8. Pretty bad action until the finish and Steamboat riling up the crowd by taking off his hood. The finish with the bell ringing brought about a chaotic atmosphere that kind of worked. I would have been interesting to see what they would have went for with Douglas in this match as some Final Conflict vibes could have been played out, but what we saw here seemed like a disappointing match.
  9. Agree that this show seems interesting in concept but between the legends segments being dominant and the false advertising, the crowd was done here. Mr. Wrestling II did get a nice applause in the highlight here.
  10. Tully being advertised is awful with no plans to bring him here. Roma couldn't win even though all things considered I didn't think his promo was per say bad here. The ending with them doing the four horseman signal looks so hollow.
  11. Really good opening match with a ton of energy. The opening Benoit vs. Scorpio sequence got over huge and then the heels work over Bagwell with some effective stuff. The finish was fun too with Eaton trying ferociously to break up the count and man did that legdrop look absolutely awful coming full force onto Benoit. ***1/4
  12. Crowd seems pretty tepid on Davey Boy until he power slams Vader and then they are going nuts. This was effective in setting up the main event.
  13. Am I blinded or what? I thought this was great and runs circles around Flair VIP table in 96 and his mental hospital antics in 99. The Japanese theme does have a Prime Time 91 vibe to it but it is different and we get another foreshadowed feud for the Nature Boy. Arn also giving the ok to Rude for FUFU was funny stuff. Ill defend these segments anytime.
  14. I do think this makes WCW look pretty big time with Jesse mucking it up with Sly. Although, Sly being shocked they were doing a legends PPV isn't great for promotion and he looked thrilled to be putting on that WCW golf hat. Jesse always knows how to make himself look important.
  15. Seriously LOL moment at Solie saying the Thesz vs. Inoki match was recent. I thought it would be the Chono match. Anyway, the card looks pretty good on paper especially if you saw that big angle between Norton and Sting on the Tokyo Dome show.
  16. Steve Armstrong looked jacked but this was another strong promo from Bob who is applying for a petition to wrestle. Jimmy Del Ray is on board and I must say it feels a bit of a letdown after seeing Stan and Eaton in the picture just weeks before. He does give a pretty sleezy promo and ends it with some hideous dancing winning me over.
  17. Seems like a promising segment as I like the outside the ring stuff here. Jennifer was just missing a Jesse Spano cameo with this video.
  18. Cool tribute to a security guy in USWA. These things make USWA have a great community feel that you don't get in many other promotions in history.
  19. I dug this a ton to the abrupt finish but I realize it was there to set up more matches down the line. Felino and Casas have great issues with each other in this one leading to Casas essentially forfeiting the match for his man. Felino's expression was great once he realized what had transpired. ***3/4
  20. Amazing to think this is the worst big gaijin match vs. Hansen from the year as it is incredible. The focus on the arm leading to Misawa being the stronger man and still having enough will power in the elbow to put Stan away is incredible. I haven't watched their 1992 stuff in a while, but this certainly feels like their best outing against each other and feels like a great argument to the Hansen and Misawa didn't have great matches claim much like the 1986 Jumbo vs. Hansen match was to that claim. Misawa is now the man of All Japan once and for all. ****1/4
  21. I didn't have issues with this at all. I thought after Kawada was the ass kicker in the first series as a team it was important to show here that Taue was still valuable and teaming with Jumbo taking Misawa to the brink in Triple Crown matches. The MVC stuff here was the best tag stuff in the world, but it also wasn't the worse with some chokes and other varied attack instead of generic headlocks and nerve holds. This was long and certainly not great, but also not a turd of the match that makes you shy away from saying Kawada is a WOTY contender. Glad to see the HOly Demon Army win the belts. ***1/4
  22. Looks like the match is coming as this was serious Funk doing a money promo for the big match . Sign me up.
  23. Raw was such a nothing show for most of 1993 until this happened. The Flair loser leaves town match is the only other thing of consequence that comes close. I will be interested to see if another Raw is this noteworthy until 1997 but I remain doubtful. Anyway, this is a good match but more about the result than the actual action. Shawn does some decent stuff of top but doesn't really target anything or have a prolonged theme to his attack. ***
  24. Biggest Raw moment to date and a great moment overall as the Kid victory really does take you by surprise with how fast it happens. 1-2-3. *1/2
  25. I loved this. I thought it set up Flair's return to the ring in a great way showing the new generation prick heels essentially doing to Flair what he did to everyone else a decade earlier. They are inviting that fire of the champion back. This was done in a good way to me.
