  1. Do you have twitter? Because I just tweeted out what you said, and I wanted to give you credit. @DVDVR_DFA, though I mainly talk about sports because I just don't watch that much wrestling anymore (for reasons that are probably obvious with my above opinion on fully scripting shows). So it's probably a very boring account to most wrestling fans.
  2. I like how wrestling is so controlled now that no one has the good goddamn sense to even wrap up a segment when its dying an absolute historic death. These people don't understand even basic things. It's amazing.
  3. Since WWE has always been in love with angles where the heels are actually right, I can see them doing an angle where Bryan jumps someone at the rumble and "steals" their spot, then he wins it, only to have HHH and friends tell him no, no, no. I just have a hard time believing he won't be involved somehow.
  4. Seeing a few reports float around social media now that Bryan has been cleared.
  5. The absolute worst match I ever saw was on a very small time indie show where shall we say a "large" fellow was booked to wrestle much longer than he was physically capable of really doing, and no one had the common sense to just call for an early finish, which resulted in probably the longest 15 minutes of my life. Most of which was filled with a very uncomfortable, heavy breathing noise. I also saw some sort of cage match multi-tag-team clusterfuck thing in ROH years ago that was basically "don't sell video game moves" for like 20 minutes, that featured Teddy Hart jumping off the top of the cage to the floor at one point. It was so ridiculously pathetic me and a buddy were just killing ourselves laughing, and I've never watched a second of ROH ever again. That match was basically that .gif of Davey Richards not selling a top rope brainbuster on loop for the entire time.* Doing MOVEZ is really cool, I'm not one of those. But if you aren't going to sell any of them, there's no good reason to watch second rate Olympic gymnastics when the real thing is so much better.
  6. As long as they play this at the induction, I'm cool.
  7. Ryback does nothing but troll on Twitter so that whole thing didn't phase me much. But usually he sticks to "you're fat and a nerd and wish you had my job" kind of stuff so this recent thing was certainly a step up.
  8. Exactly. Still a lot cheaper than say NHL Network. I don't really know what people were expecting if they don't think a specialty channel of this nature was going to come with an X month commitment. Come on, grow up.
  9. The $9.99 a month surprises me. I really thought it wold be more. I'm pretty boned on this. Internet companies in Canada need to get their shit together in the rural areas, the difference in quality of service between the big cities and the rest of the country is ridiculous. But it sounds great, in general.
  10. Even that is a self defeating argument. "As I cover less wrestilng and more MMA, my subscriber base that remains says they like it". Well yeah, because the people that don't have given it up by now. This isn't exactly advanced marketing theory here.
  11. That was a really fun article. I've only been around stand up comedy a little (I had a close friend that handled office business for a club in Edmonton for several years), but enough to know that yeah it's probably one of the more comparable businesses to indie wrestling out there. Both in terms of the basic setup, and in terms of the crazy people involved.
  12. This is basically exactly what I tweeted to him in response. The amateur wrestling thing has as much to do with a pro wrestling audience as the NHL lockout.
  13. They seem to have improved their web presence a lot since Joey Styles moved into that role. (That is what he does, right?)
  14. Rip hates the midget and the divas (especially the divas a lot) but generally he talks a lot of good sense in the "old wrestler looks back on what wrestling was and laments that it will never be so again" way, or at least as much as you can in 140 characters or less. Most of the things that he points out are blatantly wrong with WWE's current TV climate I agree with, from what little I've watched over the last year. I find him one of the better "people in the business" twitter accounts, overall.
  15. The four way looks pretty interesting. Other than that my main interest is seeing what silly thing happens in the main event.
  16. Ah, this thread. February 11th, 2007 (when even then it was a legitimate question) and still going strong. God bless you TNA. God bless you.
  17. Thanksgiving has a more fighting chance in Canada where the bookers give it more room to breathe. I have to be honest, I can't stand the rest of the crowd at either anymore. Too many old time fans bitching about how great things were before all this modern shizzle. Really annoying chants about young people, off color race jokes, and complaining about medical problems instead of getting on with the show. This is just not my scene. I only go for the food. I wouldn't be surprised if I drop both in the next decade.
  18. A lot of older names I'm honestly not that well versed on from this list, but still (or because of that maybe) interesting.
  19. I watch a lot of sports. A whole lot. When you do that, you see a thousand things a year where you think "maybe, if my life had been different, and I'd trained hard blah blah I could have done that". Then you see like 10 things a year where you go "nope, no way, no how, could never have done that", the truly superhuman elite things. The Hunt/Silva fight was one of those 10 things. Absolute mana to a sports nut.
  20. I saved a couple of them but not the works. Regret.
  21. I'd rather we cut back on people quoting two lines, writing three or four paragraphs in response, rinse repeat. Reeks of "I'm going to keep writing until you are too bored to respond any further". But not wishing AIDS on each other is good too.
  22. I don't understand why people care about 1980's WWF tag team wrestling in general. 99% of it is unwatchable.
  23. If being better than Stevie Ray at working "forgettable midcard WCW bullshit" makes someone a superworker, I wonder where actually good midcarders like Masa Fuchi must rank on the all time list.
  24. Wasn't Boyd also responsible on the Mid South set for the line "The Crowned Uncrowned King of Wrestling"? Because that was the greatest moment, like, ever. Pretty much.
  25. I'm in Canada, so I have my doubts it would be available right away. I would take the same approach Loss would though. I've only skimmed this thread at most, are they actually going to even do it here? Seems like Sportsnet 360 is pushing themselves as the one-stop source for WWE in this country right now, and they'd have an absolutely massive fucking gap in their programming if it all goes to a WWE Network. It would be almost as bad as Gol TV post losing La Liga. :-) I'd point out that Sportsnet also broadcasts the NFL Thursday Night game, despite NFL Network being available here as well as a specialty channel. There's a chance Raw at the very least could remain a Sportsnet property and they might not lose it all.
