  1. I plan on ordering it, but my guy doesn't have it in stock yet.
  2. http://culturecrossfire.com/wrestling/wrasslin-back-in-the-day-april-1985-part-3/ The final part of April 1985 sees Nick Bockwinkel head to Memphis to face off with another Hall of Fame heel, a rumored power play in Florida could alter wrestling history, Gary Hart watches one of his creations ruined by bad booking, a new giant gets his first push, World Class gossip suggests they will partner with an act that is selling out stadiums across the USA, Bill Watts takes to the airways to shoot on Sports Entertainment and 20/20, a gimmick change turns a jabroni into a headliner, the WWF is embarrassed in Texas, Jim Crockett makes the biggest move in his business history, plus more news, rumors, and results!
  3. http://culturecrossfire.com/wrestling/kayfabe-lies-and-alibis-barry-windham-shoot-interview-2/ Barry Windham covers his early years being the son of a vagabond father playing in the NFL and pro wrestling, the wrestlers who he went to college with, breaking in with the Funk family, drinking with Dick Murdoch, Jim Crockett's financial struggles leading him to the WWF, why he ended up leaving the WWF in the middle of a boom period, Ric Flair partying with a teenage Windham, wrestling Stan Hansen and Brody in Japan, why he went back to the WWF briefly in 1989, butting heads with Jim Herd, why he turned down the NWA world title, feuding with his friend Dusty Rhodes, Windham's role in Brian Pillman's career altering car accident, being given the "Stalker" gimmick, JBL being a backstage bully, being an agent for the WWE, NXT, and more!!
  4. http://culturecrossfire.com/wrestling/from-the-wwe-network-the-wwfs-hottest-matches/ "The WWF's Hottest matches" is a pretty solid release. Tito Santana and Rick Martel put forth a nice battle, Jake the Snake's psychologically strong style is on display in matches with Akeem and the Million Dollar Man, The Rockers tangle with the Orient Express, and Dusty Rhodes faces Greg Valentine in one on one action, then teams with Sapphire for a crowd pleaser against the Macho King and Queen Sherri, who are joined by Brother Love. Plus the Barber has a stinker against Haku and a young Shawn Michaels gets an early chance at singles success as he grapples with Ted Dibiase.
  5. http://culturecrossfire.com/wrestling/from-the-wwf-network-wrestlings-tough-guys/ Wrestling's Tough Guys is a ROUGH tape to watch! Tito Santana can't get much out of the muscle bound Dino Bravo, Hacksaw Duggan butts heads with Boris Zhukov, The Powers of Pain and the Bushwackers have a true stinker, Hercules and Akeem have a comedic clash of titans, and in the only truly redeeming part of the tape sees Haku and Ronnie Garvin tossing stiff shots at one another in a true battle of legit badasses.
  6. I think Bryan should have run wild on the heels before they took him out for a bit. Cock blocking the fans for 10 mins on marking out for Bryan hurt the match.
  7. I took the story to be that Taker was pissed that Cena was talking smack and dragging him out of retirement, so Taker just went fast and loose and whooped him before SuperCena knew what hit him. It was fine.
  8. This was an iconic PPV ad for me. I vividly remember seeing it in PWI while at the magazine rack at the local Fleet Farm. --- I'm pre-gaming Mania by watching the first WCW Sat Night on the network. It seems WCW discovered the wonders of canned heat by this point.
  9. It's very WCW-like to build a guy up as a college football hero, then not run the show in the area he was a star. On top of that, they have Simmons lose!
  10. I saw that coming… Yep, it's probably gonna be the end for me. Regardless, Prichard being on the WWE payroll in any shape makes the whole thing completely worthless. From which episode would you recommend picking back up on the Cornette podcast ? I was a regular listener back a few years ago then stopped listening (even before the whole host quiting debacle). A few episodes before Christmas, when he started covering different periods of his career in depth. There's one on 14th December that covers December 1984, for example. I personally find Corny reading his own results to be death as he just goes on and on and Last doesn't chime in. There is largely a lack of discussion and I zone out fast. I love Corny BTW, watch and listen to everything he does, so I'm not just a hater.
  11. http://culturecrossfire.com/wrestling/wrestling-back-in-the-day-april-1985-part-2/ Part 2 of April in 1985 sees the AWA run a loaded card only weeks after Mania 1 - with the WWF taking them on with a card of their own, Two cagey vets have an infamous "Shoot" with the Road Warriors to teach them a lesson. Two legends return to action in the AWA, Pro Wrestling USA saw a bit of a WWWF dream match take place a few years too late, The Freebirds tape their motion picture debut, Montreal booms as the AWA stars pop another big house, Bruiser Brody causes more headaches, David Schultz makes headlines for another attack away from the ring, Don Owens turns to Ric Flair to try and salvage his promotion and more news, notes and results!
  12. http://culturecrossfire.com/wrestling/the-march-to-wrestlemania-9/ WWE should really put the old USA specials up before their corresponding PPVs one of these years. Here's a passive aggressive look at the "March to WM 9" with a lot of talent that was not part of the show or even with the WWF by the time this special aired. Macho Man is over HUGE even without a Mania program, Hulk Hogan cuts a promo about mermaids, Taker and Bam Bam Bigelow have a fun battle, Kamala is the Christian Cannibal, plus more fun!
  13. Big Van Vader was name dropped on AWA TV during the draft for the Team Challenge Series IIRC. Just another name that was not really going to ever appear that they name dropped.
  14. http://culturecrossfire.com/wrestling/from-the-wwe-network-super-tape-2/ "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan gives the Macho King all he can handle in a battle for the crown, The Rockers are given a "profile" section that ends in an unexpected manner, Demolition battles the WWF's new heel tandem, Roddy Piper and Rick Rude brawl, Rick Martel and Bret Hart tangle in a technical battle, Akeem dances in the face of Greek Mythos, and the Hulkster partners with the Barber to try and put a hurting on Mr. Perfect and the Genius! Did Piper and Savage clash any more times in WWE? I can only thing of during the Rumble. I know they did in WCW but wondered in WWF. wrestlingdata shows a bunch of dates in 89/90 plus a handful of singles and tag matches during his first run
  15. I'm surprised during the Pat Tanaka to WCW talk that the boys didn't connect it to the J-Tex angle.
  16. http://culturecrossfire.com/wrestling/kayfabe-lies-and-alibis-sid-vicious-shoot-interview/ Sid Vicious walks us down memory lane...Stories include: How he debuted as a main event wrestler, his flirtation with the USFL and a pro football career, his opinions on why some well regarded workers were actually not very good, Kevin Owens being fat, how Virgil's big penis lead to Jerry Jarrett firing him, his misadventures with the drugged up Von Erichs, the Rock and Roll Express' drug usage, how a fan helped Sid find his finisher, SOFTBALL, the squeegee street fight, an absurd story about being in a WCW PPV main event and not knowing the finish, his many backstage issues with Vince McMahon, Hulk Hogan: the pansy, how Sid almost saved the Shockmaster from infamy, the stabbing incident with Arn Anderson, why he never went back to the WWF after 1997 despite their offers and more!
  17. IIRC the (one of the) first things they aired on the UWF's debut show was that Crockett Cup conference. The UWF tag champs are listed as tenth in the rankings, effectively burying their own product. (edit - you guys and Dave mention this 10 mins later) Also Watts' verbiage on the Cup's split show jumped out at me: "We have to have an afternoon card to get it out of the way". Buy up those afternoon tickets fans!
  18. http://culturecrossfire.com/wrestling/from-the-wwe-network-wrestlefest-1990/ Wrestlefest 90: "Rowdy" Roddy Piper clashes with the Macho King in a rare encounter between two of the biggest stars ever... Mr. Perfect plays pinball for the Hulkster....The Earthquake and Dino Bravo try to maul the Ultimate Warrior....a spotlight on the Hart Foundation sees them face off with the Powers of Pain, The Rockers and members of Jimmy Hart's entourage....Beefcake attempts to give the Model a new hairstyle...plus Jake the Snake partners with the Ultimate Warrior to face Akeem and the Million Dollar Man!
  19. For whatever it's worth, WWF magazine's WM 10 preview had Debbie Combs facing Blayze.
  20. http://culturecrossfire.com/wrestling/from-the-wwe-network-wwf-world-tour-1990/ "World Tour '90' sees a loaded compilation of solid wrestling and amusing action. Hulk Hogan batters Sherri Martel almost as much as the Macho Man in their encounter. Even the announcers struggle to justify Hogan's actions. Jim Duggan and the Honky Tonk Man have a "so bad it's good" encounter with lazy, sloppy action and a super hot crowd, Ted Dibiase battles the Ultimate Warrior with a "bizarro world" crowd as the Japanese audience embraces the Million Dollar Man, The Rockers and Rougeaus engage in a fun affair, Bret Hart suffers a legit injury - yet still gets a good match out of Dino Bravo, plus Jimmy Snuka is the featured superstar in the "profile" segment, giving us the gift of mat classics with Boris Zhukov and the Honky Tonk Man!!
  21. The SNME bonus show is "fine" but nothing you need to listen to unless you really like Bruce's impressions.
  22. http://culturecrossfire.com/wrestling/wwe-network-supertape/ "Supertape" sees former AWA and NWA champions squaring off in a WWF ring, "No Holds Barred" comes to life as Brutus Beefcake and Hulk Hogan battle the Macho King and Zeus in a steel cage, The Million Dollar Man tangles with Jake the Snake, Tito Santana grapples with "Ravishing" Rick Rude, Tugboat debuts, and the Bushwackers face off with 3 different teams who can't match the Wackers technical wizardry in the ring.
  23. Conrad said on the BOARD that twitter trolls were taking Tony's naughty comments and trying to get him fired from his "real" gigs, so that was the main reason the show is ending. Tony has a ton of side jobs according to Conrad. He's sticking with MLW live events as well.
  24. So the shows are all now 24 minutes long?
  25. http://culturecrossfire.com/wrestling/wwe-network-wrestlings-superheroes/ "Wrestling's Superheroes" is a mix of MSG gems like Roddy Piper facing Rick Rude in a really good cage match, as well as the Ultimate Warrior battling Randy Savage in a champion vs. champion bout where Savage pinballs for his beastly foe. Other than that we see PPV and SNME repeats with Hogan butting heads with Hercules, the Powers of Pain knocking around Demolition, and Jimmy Snuka tangling with the Hammer.
