Is it really a suprise that Dave Meltzer thinks AJ Styles is a better worker than Arn Anderson? Dave loves him some fast paced matches with a bunch of high spots
-
-
according to Meltz Bret is getting married again on 7/24 and they had to quickly change plans for the angle
-
what did he mean by this?
-
does anyone have their Larry Csonka to English dictionary to translate this? The poor guy just can't make any sense of Meltz's double talk.
-
go to wwe.com and look at the Father's Day ad down the page
-
well the women have to get permission to show cleavage on TV I remember Maryse tweeting that she hoped some other diva's outfit was "approved"
-
yes another C & P but I really think John Pollock sums up the situation quite nicely:
-
from DVDVR who got it from somewhere else: Listening to audio report just now with Dave Meltzer and Bryan Alvarez. Meltzer is saying he was told that there was "no logic" to the decision. The call came from Vince but he was pressured into it by someone from outside of the company who is very important to them. Danielson is supposedly now looking for Indy dates. Still has 90 day no compete clause. Internally people were saying "we just handed TNA a main eventer in 90 days" but Danielson was told by WWE that he will be able to be back with them in the future. Says that in theory it COULD still be a work but if it is then they are working the entire company (including office guys like Marketing) which would't make much sense. Says that currently there is a "much bigger situation going on with a much bigger name that would just boggle your mind."
-
this really sucks hopefully Danielson waits the 90 days and decides to go back (with the angle still hopefully hot) I mean the alternative is going to TNA
-
LOL at the TNA mark at DVDVR coming in the RAW thread and being all like "it wasn't that good" "It's not as good as the NWO" and "it didn't make any sense"(coming from a guy who routinely praises and defends TNA booking) and then Todd Martin's all "almost all the NXT guys suck so we shouldn't get that excited"
-
that might have been the best closing angle in the history of the show or the best angle in the history of the show I just hope they follow up on it
-
Rumor has it, one of said women was Terri Runnels. I first heard the gay rumor on New Jack's first RF shoot and then I believe Missy Hyatt of all people dropped Terri's name in the mix. Runnels was Pillman's girlfriend at the time. He asked her if she would want a three way with himself and Zenk (well him and Zenk double teaming her). She said no. That's all there really was to the story IIRC

Debating whether Gorilla Monsoon and Bobby Heenan were good announcers never seems to end well on any internet wrestling board.
-
Bryan opens WOL with talking about what a great RAW we had and then him and Dave basically rip the show apart in their review
-
Racism? It was just usual pro wrestling jingoistic schlock IIRC
-
Definitely true. I think around 1996 or so you had this influx of fans who grew up watching 80s WWF and they severly clashed with the more traditional old guard online. Herb Kunze comes to mind
-
Oh and now I know why Bruce Mitchell was so negative on the WWF during the MNWs and the attitude era. Wow I always wondered why he always seemed pissed off reviewing WWF television
-
Over 20 years later and we're still having the same debate! I do agree with his point that WM IV and Summerslam did not turn off the typical WWF paying customer
-
I know WM IV is a terrible show but I just can't hate it. It was during the peak of my fandom as a kid and we were absolutely going crazy about the tournament in school. I'll admit the next day we were kind of bummed about all the byes, DQs and draws because we weren't expecting stuff like that. if the show was in a different venue it probably would have added a little to the atmosphere and surely there could have been better match finishes I don't know if the quality of WM 4 and Summerslam 88 would have turned off the typical WWF fan at the time though. Remember a Hogan singles match was not the focus of either show which meant a lot at the time. He was barely around for the build up to Summerslam that year either. 1988 was a strange year in the initial boom period because for the first time in over 4 years Hogan was at least somewhat de-emphasized
-
There's a poster over at DVDVR who goes out of his way to defend TNA whenever someone remotely criticizes the product and then criticizes WWE for the tiniest infractions I'm pretty sure it's not a gimmick either wow. just wow. I think he posts at Scott Keith's blog also
-
1989 should be awesome for the WCW stuff but I'm also interested in Dave's take on the Mega Powers break up angle and build. He has said in the past it was one of the best booked angles he's ever seen. Of course he will murder the Mania V show
-
man what was with Herd trying to bring Sports Entertainment into a traditional wrestling company? Did he have a WWF hang up? Did he even watch his own promotion? what!? When did this happen? did it take place in Altanta?
-
btw, Vince got the idea for Mae stripping after seeing "Something about Mary" for the first time
-
yes I remember the WWF purposely teasing nudity at Royal Rumble 2000 for the bikini contest. Then of course it was Mae. I think it was more leaking false reports online because it was talked about at the NEWZ sites for weeks my favorite part of the whole bit was Fred Blassie marking out after Mae stripped
