Chimel was at ringside at MSG shows back in the mid 80s. Don't know what his official role was back then
-
oh man this reminds me of the post that old WWE writer made at some board a few years ago ( I think it was in 05 or so) His constant lamenting of Debra annoying all the writers asking for her "TV Tapin' Time"
-
Meltzer from the Board while talking about the Mania buyrate Not around here but some people just don't want to accept this The Mania buyrate was disappointing but you have to give Vince at least some credit for taking a dead company from 02-05 and turning it into at least a moderate success The WWE main event scene is obviously stale but I've liked their programming for the most part since 05. And the business trends indciate a greater interest in the product again not around here but the talk of WWE "dying" is hilarious

Re: the Love Triangle I'm not sure if this had anything to do with the way the angle ended but I remember at the time there was a report (Keller I think) that the other women in the company were kind of razzing Stephanie that she was going from guy to guy to guy (Test to HHH to Angle) and that she was being portrayed as this "loose" woman

The Hogan/Sting Superbrawl match was booked horribly. Hogan dominated almost the entire match then Sting makes his comeback and can't even win clean as Savage's interference led directly to the fall and then Hogan got the belt back two months later anyway Plus like Starrcade Hogan sold no fear of Sting. He had acted scared of him for over a year and then when the day comes he's trash talking, stooging and mugging to the camera

I would take 1995 WWF and 1990 AWA over summer of 99 WCW. I can't remember who had the book then. Was it still Nash? Wasn't this the time period where Bischoff took his daughter to Europe for making the honor roll?
-
I was just thinking about Schiavone the other day watching old matches and he really seemed to lose his enthusiasm for the business once Hogan joined the company in 94. You would think he would have been ecstatic during the boom period but he sounded absolutely miserable. It's like he just wanted to call good ole regional pro rasslin and talk baseball on the side

oh man Rajah has the bit from the Observer about Mickie and John Cena. Only the reporter reads it as Mickie trying to break up Cena's marriage and Cena turning down her advances (and James being moved to SD). Of course Cena and Mickie really were an item and Mickie didn't take the break up well and was moved to SD Poor Daniel Pena you can't decipher Dave Meltzer's double talk

Big Show is getting paired with Swagger in a title program. Let's await the proper reaction from Dave, Bryan and Todd

HHH's tribute to Owen was insincere? What's the story here? If so that was pretty good acting
-
Just to add a little more info. According to Terry he was going to lose clean to one of the Hart Brothers (Bret I think) have his masked removed and run away in disgrace and eventually have a booking role backstage. Once Terry found out the plan he did the "Horse dying" bit and went right back to Texas
-
Wasn't it reported that Vince had been training for the match? The broadcasting on Superstars in late 86 would lead you to believe that match was going to happen

After reading this thread I read this at 411:
-
I think this is the 3rd match I was referencing:
-
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QVql6dF0BFg I think it's this one. Or is this the Flair one? Edit: Yup it's the Flair match. Maybe it only hapened twice
-
Hunter has a weird habit of requesting programs with his buddy Regal and then squashing him in quick TV matches, I think that's happened at least three separate times

hall and Nash (and Ross Forman!) pay tribute to Bobby Heenan

Has anyone heard the real story and the correct timeline on the HHH/Stephanie/Chyna ordeal. I've heard Chyna's shoot but she's so out of it/high that her timeline makes no sense and she just rambles. Didn't Hunter and Stephanie briefly breakup in late 2000 (with H going back to Chyna who in theory should have already known about the affair) before getting back together in Spring 01? Edit: Chyna and Hunter were together in Oct. 2000 because that MTV special about Chyna filmed her for No Mercy 2000 (in Oct. with her and Hunter still together)) but then later interviews revealed that Hunter and Stephanie were together in Summer 2000 with Laurer finding the letters from Stephanie

The Jim Ross Is A Grouchy Hateful Vile Human Being thread
Strummer replied to Loss's topic in Megathread archive
Most of them came in the 2002-2003 reign of terror where Hunter made sure he was the unquestionable top guy in the company now that Rock and Austin were gone (for the most part) I'm not a total HHHater but man did he drain the fun out of the shows during those 2 years. Especially 03 -
Back in the beginning part of the decade (02-05 mainly) I would e-mail Dave regularly and ask him questions and he pretty much always responded and seemed like a real nice guy. He also used a lof the little news tidbits I sent him in his daily reports. I didn't (and still don't) agree with a lot of things he said and he annoyed me but yeah he always seemed to generally love talking wrestling and answering questions for anyone don't know about now.

Man after 6 years of Dave and Bryan complaining about Shelton's lack of push who will be their new martyr?
-
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QABwHrH6JE0...feature=related greatest wrestling intro ever

very clear that Dave, Bryan and Todd had no idea who Forte and Wiig were (or any idea about the MacGruber character) This would all be fine if they didn't make fun of Vince McMahon for knowing nothing about pop culture
-
I don't know Hunter is probably the most over guy with the non/casual fans that I know. They love the guy. Even more so than Cena and yes he was getting help but he was very over a face in the summer of 98 before the knee injury. The reaction he gets at Summerslam 98 when he wins the ladder match is still mind boggling to me

Todd made WAY too big a deal about the Bret angle tonight. It's simply a corny little angle to get heat on Miz and set up a tag match for a PPV. and yet Todd goes on with his phony hand wringing
