  1. I'd say at least catch the Perfect/Bret vs Ramon/Luger match too. And the Bret vs Backlund MSG match.
  2. Do you really think you could take my team of Kellett, Solar, Goto, Porky and Saint? It's going to be a joy collaborating with you.
  3. I need to switch my Avatar to Breaks soon. My top voter scores are for Garza, Mike Jackson, Virus, Bill Eadie, and Jim Breaks. That's my new favorite Survivor Series team.
  4. Mil did look really good there, I thought he was getting back up way too quickly as he was getting hammered down, but past that nothing egregious and his act worked really well against guys who could stooge as thoroughly as Gino and Tully. He was also great on the apron as cheerleader. I liked the finish a lot actually, with the escalating frustration. Houston's tag structure bedevils me a bit as it's not generally a traditional southern tag but either has the sputtering heat or, like in this one, felt more like an AJPW tag at times, back and forth while still highlighting Tito and Mil's ability to overcome adversity and how rotten Gino and Tully could be. I loved Tully's use of the elbow here and his flipping corner bump too. This was Tito as an ace and it showed. I really feel like these Houston matches from this era fills in an important gap with him.
  5. Alright, Lisa Lewis, front and center to explain the #1 vote.
  6. Billy hasn't dropped yet. Nor Regal but they aren't the pure (or majority) Joint Promotions guys.
  7. The sun has set on the British Empire.
  8. We know it's not Scott Steiner.
  9. Only on house shows.
  10. Matt D

    NXT talk

Boston crowds may be different than Oklahoma City ones, but my friend last night said that during one match there was a Roman Reigns sucks chant followed shortly thereafter by a "We Sold Out" chant.
  11. I said almost!
  12. I appreciate Marty's tastes. They're earnest, enthusiastic, and add a great deal the community. I'm sure he'll settle down once he sees the wiser part of 30. He's the Tom Zenk to Kelly's Rick Martel, but, you know, with more upside. The Justin Gabriel to Kelly's Matt Hardy?
  13. I think Santo is absolutely immune to reevaluation, to the point that I bet he made it at least 1 Number 1.
  14. Sometimes I wonder if I ranked Casas low. Which is almost impossible. Almost.
  15. I'm much higher on Lesnar's first run than his second one.
  16. Lesnar benefits from several things:1)WWE 2)recency bias 3)uniqueness I didn't rank him. The long term damage of having him work versus Angle is showing now. He makes people feel something in an age where it's hard for people to feel anything. He feels special in a world where nothing else does. That says a hell of a lot more about the world than it does about him. He certainly didn't make my list.
  17. I have Casas over someone I never thought would move from his spot. Every match is such a joy. I watched this yesterday (excuse the 1.5 speed and note that I am taking life and limb in hand by posting it because it may freeze my account here). Look at that use of the cameraman. Just a random match lost to the annals of time and look at that! You find stuff like that in almost any Casas match from almost any era.
  18. I think Lesnar and Michaels will be very high. 20s high.
  19. With Owen, I'd say that people, in general, value his earlier workrate stuff less and his later character-driven stuff more relative to 2006.
  20. I went #10 on Virus, and I think people could find that just as dubious as someone going #10 on Owen, so I'm hardly in a place to talk (even if I think there's a much stronger case for Virus).
  21. I've got ~41 left which isn't so bad considering how goofy my list is.
  22. The Sarge Peak Matches argument was strong, especially because it can be said in 2-3 sentences. I was not expecting Martel to end with "I've never seen a great Martel Brawl." but I'm not sure. I need to rewatch some things. In my mind the Funk WWC match is 10 minutes of stalling and then brawling, but I don't think it is. I need to rewatch the comebacks in the Sheepherders matches. There weren't any brawls after the AWA bloody Freebirds Martel angle? I guess that I'm immediately not sure, that's an issue, but I'm not sure that'd affect my rating anyway relative to other things.
  23. I guess it depends on if you did your list based on in-ring work alone, or included the other aspects of being a great wrestler. I thought of his ability to connect with the audience and amazing promo skills. I ranked him higher than this. He does have great matches as well, so I wouldn't say he's "way too high" yet... Just my opinion... I feel like this might distract from the broader issue at hand. Let's say Punk gets 100 votes. From the discussion we've had here, I could see 10 of those factoring in his promos, maybe less. That goes back to the anonymity and latecomers, of course, but the wild majority of people voting in this process indicated here that they were voting on ringwork based on footage alone. I think it's more productive to look at what in ring aspects people might have voted Punk this high on.
  24. Big jump on the list as we have our first person with over 100 ballots.
  25. I nominate Steven to be the one to tell Han that his hair is goofy.
