  1. I'll say this. I wasn't really into wrestling at this point. I had fallen off in mid 92, but as a kid, this was still a big deal.
  2. Dave was amusing on Observer Radio saying "God damn that's scary" at the prospect of Christian vs. Mark Henry main events, despite Christian being as good as he is. I can see that from a drawing perspective, but that's the single feud I want the most in the WWE right now I think. Christian had one-two (tops) matches with Zeke but he really wasn't fighting too many monsters in 09 during his incredible TV Title-esque run. Christian is so great at adapting and rearranging and teasing his spots and I can just imagine what he'd do against Henry and what Henry could do with him.
  3. I really love the transition that they did in Flair/Arn (multiple matches actually in that feud) where after the Flair Flip, Arn would go for the "babyface clotheslines Flair on the apron" spot and Flair would duck it.
  4. Really good match. To me it's frustrating that they took so long to debut Roma after they announced him at Slamboree. He should have been all over TV the next weekend if they wanted to get him over. Damn taping schedule.
  5. This is EASILY the best one. Dustin is absolutely hilarious in this, and so is Foley. "Oh yes, I know you. You're the great country western singer, Dustin Rhodes." "Well, I..." I'm cracking up now just thinking about it.
  6. I bet there are a ton of awesome Flair/Valentine tag matches. And if someone ever invents time travel we'll be able to see them.
  7. I'd take Heenan over Benoit anyday, for lots of reasons, but one of the main one being that Heenan can work 2-3 times a night easily and probably cut two promos on top of that. And if this is a MSG show, hell, he could do commentary too.
  8. Honky didn't have to do more than he did to achieve the results he wanted. In fact, if he did do more he might have sabotaged some of his own efforts, or at the least, he would have had to come up with a different structure and narrative to achieve what he was trying to do. Some of this was shaped (in his own recollection) by him going up for a bump early in his career (I think a belly to back) and a guy totally killing him with his cooperation. For some reason Disco Inferno comes to mind too. He's said on record that he loved watching Japanese tapes and tried to do all that stuff but he just looked awkward as hell doing it and he couldn't pull it off. Both guys were very self aware of what they were doing, what others were doing, and how they might have had better rated matches, but it just didn't make sense to them for one reason or another. I'm not sure what my point there was, to be honest.
  9. This match is WILDLY underrated and I'm not sure I get why. Zenk is the world's best possible Shane Douglas.
  10. I feel like I want to argue this but I don't want to go out of my way to watch a lot of Rotunda right now and contort it all into this argument. I shall give you a raincheck.
  11. I hope this means good things for Christian.
  12. By this point I am willing to hear any argument in the world, but I think positive things about Russo is where I draw my line.
  13. Retirement stip from WM 7 ? I don't think so. I think Savage wanted some time off with Liz as they were thinking of having a child. Then things degenerated between the two, I'm not sure when they divorced, but their relationship was probably not the best when they did the wedding angle. Savage really was phased out after Survivor Series 92, and when they began RAW. ANd it was all about Vince thinking Savage was too old, which was ridiculous, as he was a legit star at the time and could have helped a lot to build guys like Bret. His heat with Hogan culminated when Hogan came back in 93. It's amazing these two worked so much together in WCW, and that Savage ended up being Hogan's bitch again. I'm pretty sure they were separated if not divorced by the end of summer in 92, which helps, in my mind, to explain the belt going back onto Flair.
  14. The SNME Warrior/Dibiase match is good. No question about that. But then I think Warrior/Andre SNME is a REALLY Good match and that won WON worst match of the year.
  15. I'm also totally in the closet now. I wasn't in college or high school. I went to a bunch of indy shows in college for god's sake. But now, totally closeted. It's a "Don't talk about the war." sort of thing whenever I'm with a college friend I went to shows with. All cost-benefit.
  16. Get up! Stop selling and hit another spot! Angle>
  17. Orndorff had a really good first two thirds of 93. Granted, he was feuding with Cactus Jack, Dustin, and Ron Simmons for most of it and teaming with Rude, Vader, and Slater for a good chunk of it.
  18. The only problem with putting Cena vs Miz anywhere but last is that you can't just leave it hanging after Rocky attacks Cena. The show would have to end with a pull apart or something. Cena would have had two matches to recover and go to Rock's dressing room.
  19. 100% my favorite thing about Hunter is his complete lack of sports knowledge. There was an interview with him and Michaels and it was hilarious how little he knew about football. I think my wife knows more and that's saying something considering we have to go over how many points a field goal is at least once a year.
  20. Not So Bad If You Did Not Pay For It
  21. Few problems with this scenario. Firstly, I guess Rock isn't going to be around much over the next nine months and doesn't want to wrestle until next year's Mania. Secondly, I can't see them turning Cena because he's such a merchandise draw for them and there's no-one ready to replace him in that role. I mean out of touch Vince was so desperate for the fans not to boo Cena at Mania that's why he brought in a gospel choir to sing Cena's entrance music on the show. Given that they want to recreate The Rock vs. Hogan vibe, they should have turned Rock cool heel. The hardcore audience would still cheer Rock, perhaps even more so, while keeping Cena a babyface to his loyal kid fanbase. Also, they could do a one-night turn (re: Shawn vs Hogan). And really, they'll just bring Rock in for some key touchstones every x number of months. Ideally he'd tag with Cena at Summerslam or Survivor series, special ref at the Rumble, etc.
  22. Whether effective or not, I think it played off of HBK/Taker from last year where Shawn wouldn't stay down
  23. There was a Bret Hart match that was going well until Bret decided to just whack the heck out of him with a chair. Shitty, shitty Konnan punches though.
