Ha! They sent Heyman out to rationalize why the WWE title match is so cruddy that it has to curtain jerk.
-
I wish they had put more effort into finding someone other than Seth Rollins to showcase right after that Oscar's "Showcase of the Immortals" lettering.
-
WWE mentality will have Corbin and Jinder beat them tomorrow anyway.
-
I suppose I should find dinner for these kids. How was the women's battle royal?
-
Did we really need five minutes of Braun vs Will Sasso? And then they cut away exactly when Braun was doing the Andre pose. Great job guys.
-
You're doing the same thing you do every year, pal. What time is it there?
-
Andras was looking like a worldbeater for a minute there, including the really fun elimination of Rey. (I have to figure out dinner for the family in a bit so this is just a brief visit really). The Braun apron suplex thing would be a killer double team finisher on the old WCW ramp.

Ok, guys. I am here after doing a ton of gardening and what not that i didn't want to do. Including finding baby bunnies and getting them to a rescue. This battle royal is annoying because I've never actually seen a Karl Anderson match and now I have. There goes that streak.

[2019-04-05-WWE-NXT Takeover: New York] Pete Dunne vs WALTER
Matt D replied to paul sosnowski's topic in April 2019
Played catch up on WALTER vs Dunne one day late. Things i loved: - Dunne's selling of WALTER's chops early. Just the way he dropped and crumbled. - How WALTER gradually took over in the first few minutes with Dunne trying less and less offense each time as WALTER overwhelmed him. - How the hope spots were all hold based. - How earned both the eventual comeback (at least three or four dodges and moves to get to a point where he was firing back) and really almost any offense Dunne got in the subsequent minutes (the top rope flip powerbomb only working after the finger to stop the cut off) and likewise how desperate a lot of his offense had to be. - Tons of specific moves (like the WALTER stop onto the neck). - So much struggle for 65% of the match, which is everything you want from a match like this. Everything. What I didn't love: - Way too many kickouts at the end. The sleeper suplex should have probably ended it. I would have been ok with the stomp to the throat ending it (with a power bomb that hit), to be honest. Everything after the Sleeper Suplex from the top (with Dunne barely selling the landing) sort of felt like bullshit. What kind of fucking world are we in where a match like that doesn't end things? At the least make it part of a finishing stretch. Instead there was another what? 7 minutes? - WALTER taking too much at the end. I get that Dunne has a legendary title reign, but there are so many excuses for why he'd lose this one while keeping him protected. It was worked like the third or fourth match in a series between the two of them, not a first. WALTER is huge. Protect him for the eventual bigger match. So yeah, first half of the match was great, absolutely great. Second half was bullshit. I By the time they were doing the strike exchange at the end, I wanted to be watching something else. By the time the ref got in the way to allow for the big boot, I was using the 10 second skip ahead to just get through it. Sorry. That I was so into the first half just made the second half so much worse. -
We are covering it this week on SC, along with new Funks/Invaders in PR and an Eddy vs JBL match from Italy. The one thing I was looking forward to the most didn't happen this year: Trips and Steph didn't spend an hour live-streaming the walk through Axxess.

I watched a new El Dandy match from 1992 today? Plus a good chunk of that Wrestlemania 3 press conference. I completely trust you guys to collate and recap all of the stuff going on this week and point it at me later, maybe during Secret Santo in July 2019. (I do want to catch that Dragon Lee vs Cavernario match though)
-
I will say that I think two or three years from now we'll look back at the Austin vs Michaels match that just dropped last week as a more significant historical find than the Magee vs Bret match. Obvious i say that without seeing the Bret match, but I also say it as a bigger Bret fan than a Michaels fan. That match gave us an abnormal Michaels performance (and really an abnormal transitory Austin performance). I think we're all pretty sure what the Bret performance will be like and it won't tell us anything new. If anything, it likely won't live up to the hype and we'll think worse of it.

Yes and no. I doubt Warrior would object to this one, but if you had a Venn diagram between the people he'd think were appropriate for the award (long time office and production people) and the people WWE want to have it (PR highlights), this would hit both. While she may be absolutely deserving, this is definitely just a way to celebrate their Make-A-Wish connection instead of celebrating some long time. Not exactly a Jimmy Miranda award.

Ok, nevermind. They're not listening to us.

WWE TV 03/11 - 03/17: Exposing civilians by fabricating lies
Matt D replied to KawadaSmile's topic in WWE
He was doing a Lee Marshall impression. -
Sherri should get a second nod for this too.
-
Talk about being better than the sum of their parts.
-
All I've seen is the three-way but that was a good three-way and whenever you get that, it's worth noting. Maybe a bit too much extra curricular stuff around Rowan t set up spots towards the end.
-
That's like asking a genie for more wishes.

The flipside is that Arn live-watching CHIKARA while drunk could be amusing?
-
I'm catching up too. I'd be sort of curious what a Conrad Podcast with Arn would look like. He obviously wouldn't have a 360 view on any specific show in the same way that someone like Eric or Prichard does, but he basically covers 1980 to 2019 and obviously he has a great mind for the business and laying out matches. Specific topical areas (be it, let's say the Stud Stable vs the Rhodes family or the Dangerous Alliance or the Brainbusters in WWF or his time teaming with Matt Borne or the Arn/Tully vs Road Warriors feud or the feud with Flair leading to the turn on sting and the New Horsemen or his guest shot in SMW, etc. up to laying out a specific Cena feud in-ring) could probably all work as shows.
-
Yeah, it's up and while no one's dressed 100% like Cap'n Crunch, what I've seen in the first few minutes is still amazing, almost all the more so for the complete lack of effort and production values. Ok, fess up, team. This comes out a week after khawk posts about it. Who on the board is secretly the person finding the hidden gems in the archives for the Network?
