  2. PS Cena is fired and no one is talking about it lol
  3. I skip both of them as well as Lance Storm's (I hear him enough on F4W) and Nic Aldis'd (TNA schilling & the politically safest article of all times) article. All of that is buried in the back of the magazine in fairness. I dont know how much of a draw Bill, R.D. and Nic are in a UK newsstand in 2011. Apter really annoys me with all he has seen and done he only ever offers the same dozen or so stories over and over. Much prefer those columns to be taken out of the magazine and some of the main articles be given an extra page or so. What can you say? After all these years and changes Powerslam is still in business so Finlay must be doing something right. But yeah it is the same magazine I used to buy 5 years ago.
  4. Not sure many on here are on my side of the Atlantic besides kjh but Ive been really impressed with Fighting Spirit magazine ever since they got a new editor. As the previous editor had a man crush on Bryan Alvarez copying Bryan's style of writing in the magazine with ~!s and humour only people who subscribed to F4W would get. The magazine would have really shitty stuff like eight page fantasy booking articles and Alex Shane conspiracy theory stuff all on the worst quality paper imaginable. While it's competitor Powerslam was no better as it is intensely negative and it would have stuff like 4 page Batista & Edge retrospectives seeming every month. Anyway.... I think this month's issue is the best yet. As with previous issues they have been using well known internet figures/bloggers along with bringing back John Lister, known for his work with Powerslam magazine during it's glory days in the mid to late 90s. This month's issue in particular has some really interesting and/or original articles: Rob Naylor on Tozawa's US stint John Lister on the traditional of Wrestling in Summer Camps in the UK Alan (4L) Counihan on WWE Superstars and another article on wrestlers in their 40s who can still go Phil Schneider on the history of lucha aka Phil introduces UK teenagers to IWRG Sorry if this is too schilly but I am really enjoying the magazine's direction after years of swearing off Wrestling magazines in general.
  5. In Punk's kitchen
  6. Cue dramatic voice: "on the next Slammin Stan": The promoter's Facebook is really sad with him asking people to pray for him.
  7. Link? http://tsmradio.com/coltcabana/2011/07/13/aow-51-chris-hero/
  8. Going back to Hero on Colt's podcast. The last 15/20mins of it is my favorite bit of audio in forever between him tracking down Johnny Saint and then the Noah story.
  9. Bruce guested on Wade's weekly review of Raw. Bruce kind of presented it as a blind item. Basically, he said that he understood Punk getting angry over Colt Cabana's release but that the circumstances surrounding Gallows' release were more serious than is publicly known. Then Bruce later said something Gallows behaviour didn't tie in with Punks on air and off air character. Bruce's tone of voice made whatever it is as something real bad like hard drugs or something. So instead of what was portrayed on the Art of Wrestling podcast and elsewhere - that Luke's release was a Cabanaesque hard luck story if Bruce is right it was Serena Deeb part II or worse.
  10. Chris Hero is on this weeks Art of Wrestling....it is a conspiracy. I am surprised no one has mentioned Bruce Mitchell's cryptic comments about Luke Gallows and the reason for his release.
  11. Yeah this is the second time Rock brought a gun to a rock fight with Punk.
  12. Wish I lived in Memphis Any word on if that doc will be available on dvd any time soon? If it's like a Heroes of World Class, but with Memphis, that would be awesome. I dont know but I remember hearing that they want to exhaust theaters before a DVD release.
  13. Jeff Katz and Paul Heyman's vocal patterns are scarily similar.
  14. Like I said elsewhere I thought was the best and worst of WWE. Great, edgey natural dialogue (Punk/Vince) up against scripted Creative with a capital C dialogue (Cena).
  15. Wish I lived in Memphis
  16. Celebrity listeners of Slammin Stan include Dave Prazak and ME! Pretty cocky there Bix using the word "will" in terms of the occurance of Wrestling talk on that show.
  17. Id like to hear your thoughts on CM Punk if it all plays out by next weeks tapings.
  18. The Riki Ataki F4W interview is very good. Super nice guy kinda a mix of Buddy Wayne, Kurt Brown and Pat Tanaka.
  19. Cute bit of distancing by WWE here:
  20. Hopefully that ends it before GLAAD returns to work tomorrow. Im sure all of us have made the same/similar mistake when reaching for the grab bag of swear words in the heat of the moment.
  21. There needs to be a best on house shows award in the Observer.
  22. Love Punk starting a fake homophobic furoe while rocking a Freddie Mercury tash http://www.tmz.com/2011/07/04/cm-punk-wwe-...slur-australia/
