As he and his Warriors walk straddling the crevices of this unstable world, what they see before them Rick Rude is a graveyard filled with memories. Memories of a cheap victory for him, memories of questions that were fully answered once before. Now Rick Rude promises to bring new strengths and greater challenges to his faithful Warriors. Like once before when they walked with the Intercontinental title, Rick Rude shall be eaten alive as they walk with the World title! For a Warrior interview this wasn’t bad, as at least you get some idea of what he’s on about. Not great by any means, but when it’s coherent and makes some sort of sense, that’s always a plus with him!

This is a match for Tatum’s Southern Heavyweight title. Both of these throw a mean punch, but I was left pretty flat by the match as it seemed to be more about pushing dissension between Tatum and his valet Tessa. At one point Tatum appears to be trying to get her approval but she just turns her back on him. Later in the match he starts yelling at her and tells her to stay in his corner and not to move, and when he gives her a kiss she wipes it off. He tries to get her handbag off her to use as a weapon but she’s hesitant to hand it over. Tony Falk takes his now seemingly customary bump after Tatum shoots Dundee into him and he again tries to get the handbag. She refuses to give it him and he grabs her by the hair. Dundee comes over to where they are and Tatum is finally able to wrest the bag from her and wallop Dundee with it. Tessa flees to the back, Tatum pulls Falk over and he covers Dundee to retain the title. It would have been nice to see a bit of what’s led up to this dissension between Tatum and Tessa (there is talk on commentary of Dundee possibly kissing her), but that is just a minor quibble. I’ve never seen any of this feud in the past so this is something that I’m excited to see where it goes. I thought Dusty was pretty rough with Sherri in an earlier clip in the Yearbook, but that was nothing compared to the way that Tatum grabbed Tessa here.

Slick Ric with his hair all pulled back in a ponytail! Do you know what it’s like to ride around every day of your life in a limousine? To never have to drive a car on a highway? To fly in a private jet everywhere you go? Do you know what it’s like to have five or six beautiful women around you 24 hours a day? Do you know what it’s like to walk in the finest men’s stores in the world and buy $2,000 suits? $600 shoes? To wear role rolex watches? To style and profile? Well don’t ask Larry Zbyszko, ask Ric Flair the World Heavyweight champion! He says that he woke up the other night and heard Larry Zbyszko call his name on national television, but he’s telling it like it is, and if you ask anyone who knows anything about professional wrestling who the World Heavyweight champion is, it’s automatic, it’s Ric Flair! Next Saturday night it’s Twin Wars and the triumphant return of Ric Flair to the Twin Cities. Brian Pillman just happens to be the candidate for torture, because when he comes home to his home town, he’s going to make an example out of anyone that stands in his way. And when he’s beaten him, if Larry Zbyszko happens to be standing in the corner of the hallway, walk that aisle and he’ll beat him just like he beat Brian Pillman. Really good promo from Flair and much better than the previous one he did with Woman hyping Twin Wars and his match against Pillman. This also hints at a potential match with Zbyszko down the line so I wonder if that was something that was being considered?

[1990-04-29-WWF-Wrestling Challenge] Interview: Jake Roberts
GSR replied to Loss's topic in April 1990
The interview starts by recapping what happened on Challenge the previous week when Mean Gene presented Bad News Brown with a birthday present and he freaked out over the rubber snake. Okerlund’s guest this week is Jake ‘The Snake’ Roberts. Gene can’t believe Bad News Brown and Jake apologizes for what happened as it was his fault and he shouldn’t be playing games with him out there. He says that Bad News has a real problem. Man, woman or child, they’re all scared of something, be it things that go bump in the night or a shadow down an alley. Bad News tells everyone how tough he is, yet comes out here jerking a little man around? Why doesn’t he jerk him around for a little while? He’ll show him what a man is! The bag he carries is special, the DDT is special, which one is he afraid of? Gene doesn’t want to give Jake any tips, but he gets the impression that Bad News Brown is deathly afraid of snakes. Jake says that most people are and he doesn’t carry that bag around for his health, so he will see him again. Agree with the point about how Bad News has been pushed ever since his arrival as this tough Harlem Street Fighter and here he is practically having a coronary at the sight of a rubber snake. Good interview from Jake and he tries, but knowing Bad News is done in a few months makes this a tricky one to invest in.- 9 replies

Tony Atlas says here he is again doing something that they told him champions must do, but something that this champion doesn’t like to do, and that is waste his valuable time talking to all these morons out there. There is a bunch of wrestlers in the ICW that have got the audacity to think that they should get in the ring with Tony Atlas. He’s been all over the world and hasn’t met a man yet that could fill his boots, that deserves more recognition, that has won more titles and that has done more in their life than him. He tells the ladies when they see a man like him don’t they wish they hadn’t married their husbands? When you see a man like him you know he deserves the gold, and when you see a man like him you know there is nothing in the ICW, in any other league or any other sport that could produce such an athlete. He is the man! Get on your knees when you see him coming and show him the respect he needs because he is the ICW champion. Don’t think about any other champions because before him there was noen, and after him there will be none. Often imitated, never duplicated, he’s the one, the ICW champion, so bring on all competition if you please! Another great heel interview from Atlas, but I’m getting slightly bored of these now. It’s like I’ve heard this all before and nothing that he hasn’t said in any of his previous promos. I wish he had a challenger that he could focus on as opposed to these interviews about ‘the man’.

Dawna is our host for the ICW Teen Report and her guest is Super Duper Mario. Mario with his faux Italian accent is very happy to be with Dawna and also to have been voted the ICW Wrestler of the Month. Dawna has a bunch of banal questions such as has Mario been receiving a lot of fan letters? What are his future plans for the ICW? (He hopes to wrestler Tony Atlas for the ICW title and make mama proud!) What does he like to do in his spare time and does he like to do any other sports? (He likes to play soccer believe it or not!). Deep probing stuff here! Dawna thanks him for being her guest and invites him to come back and visit again soon. Can’t wait! Dawna has to be related to someone! This looks like an audition that has been rejected as opposed to a genuine interview on a TV show. I can’t even offer one redeeming quality of Dawna. Comfortably the worst interviewer to ever grace the world of wrestling.

[1990-04-28-WWF-Saturday Night's Main Event] Bobby Heenan and Ultimate Warrior
GSR replied to Loss's topic in April 1990
Post-match interview from Bobby Heenan with Sean Mooney after Haku’s match with the Warrior. Mooney says how Heenan didn’t succeed with his quest to win the WWF Championship, but ‘The Brain’ cuts him off and tells him not to concern himself with his business. He noticed some flaws out there tonight, some weakness in the Ultimate Warrior which they can exploit. Right now Rick Rude is going through the most extensive training an athlete has ever pushed themselves too. He is the only man to ever defeat the UItimate Warrior for a title and just like he did it before, he’ll do it again and bring the WWF title back to the Bobby Heenan family. The Warrior is walking in circles around Mean Gene and says that the power of the Ultimate Warrior is out of control! He will open the wounds from the previous battles and he will swallow all the strengths that Rick Rude has promised to bring him (whatever this means!). Vince McMahon and Jesse Ventura close Saturday Night’s Main Event and the show ends with the pair of them sat on horses and Jesse sharing a carrot with his horse! I was hoping we’d seen the back of Warrior promos after the Hogan match. Can’t say I’m looking forward to the weekly inane drivel from him in this Rude program.- 10 replies

[1990-04-28-WWF-Saturday Night's Main Event] Interview: Ultimate Warrior
GSR replied to Loss's topic in April 1990
With Mean Gene is the new WWF Heavyweight champion, the Ultimate Warrior. At Wrestlemania he lived up to the ‘Ultimate Challenge’, but now he faces a challenge of a different kind with his first televised title defence against Haku. More nonsense from the Warrior but he feels like he has been chosen to lead his Warriors into the darkness without fear and chosen to carry the sacred banner of the World Wrestling Federation. He tells Haku and Heenan that they faced a much different Warrior than they have faced in the past, even different from yesterday! -
The secret to the Model’s success is that before every match he pumps up with arrogance! The fragrance that overpowers, overwhelms and pins down the competition! As Martel gives it a double bicep pose, two ladies rise up from below! Who knows what they were getting up to down there???

[1990-04-28-NWA-World Championship Wrestling] Ric Flair and Lex Luger
GSR replied to Loss's topic in April 1990
Woman says that she has slapped Lex Luger in the face, has scratched his eyes out and don’t think she won’t go one step further just to hurt him. Flair says that he and Woman dominate it all, they run professional wrestling and he is the best thing going today. Luger says that he had Ric Flair beat in Greensboro, everyone across the country saw it and his latest attempt to distract him from his objective didn’t work. He didn’t get the job done! Ric Flair is trying to put out a forest fire with a garden hose and he’s trying to take down a rhinoceros that’s charging at him with a bb gun! He’s fanned the flames and that’s made him want it even more. He’s going to take him apart limb by limb as the ‘Nature Boy’s’ era of dominance is over. It’s ‘Total Package’ time, it’s a new era! Two pretty straight forward interviews continuing their feud. By their outfits, Flair and Woman’s interview looks like it was taped the same time as the Twin Cities promo he cut on Brian Pillman. I didn’t think it was one of better ones as he just seems to reels off a few choice catchphrases. Woman says that she has slapped Lex Luger in the face, has scratched his eyes out and don’t think she won’t go one step further just to hurt him. Flair says that he and Woman dominate it all, they run professional wrestling and he is the best thing going today. -
‘The Horsemen said that they were going to take him out, but they made a big mistake when he started messing with the little Stingers. So now the time has come. Before you make your next move…’ ‘Think it over creep!’ Yup, really looks like they are trying to get sales off the back of Robocop! Promo for Robocop 2 after the Capital Combat commercial.

[1990-04-28-NWA-World Championship Wrestling] Interview: Sting
GSR replied to Loss's topic in April 1990
Sting is with Tony Schiavone in front of a weird blue screen. Tony says that there were a lot of rumours all over the world about Sting’s retirement and wonders if he ever really considered it? Sting doesn’t know who started that rumour but he hates the word ‘retirement’. When he did get a little low and thoughts crossed his mind about whether he should come back to face the ‘Nature Boy’, the one thing that turned those thoughts around was looking at the 30-40,000 letters that he had received. More than that though, it was when Ric Flair got in the face of the fans; the little Stingers with their faces all painted, the medium Stingers and even the big Stingers. When he got in their faces he started to get real serious. He’s going to be at Capital Combat with Robocop by his side and the two of them are going to police the area!- 10 replies

[1990-04-28-USWA-Memphis TV] Jimmy Valiant, Jerry Lawler and Ben Jordan
GSR replied to Loss's topic in April 1990
The celebrations continue as Jimmy Valiant is sat in the crowd with his fans. Jerry Lawler is back out (and the crowd chant ‘Lawler, Lawler, Lawler’) and he wants to see if Jimmy Valiant is really the ‘people’s champion’ and calls him over. ‘The King’ starts talking to him but Valiant is more interested in dancing and having a good time. He tells him that if he is truly the ‘people’s champion’ like he claims, he’ll do like he did and give him another shot at that title. Not here today, but next week. Valiant cuts an incomprehensible reply, but states that Ben Jordan will get the next title shot. Lawler says that Jordan is a jabroni, he’s not a contender for the World Championship and all Valiant is trying to do is hide with that belt and hold on to it for more than a week. ‘Prove to him and all his fans that he’s a man. Give him a title shot and don’t waste time with this punk!’ Valiant says that he hasn’t got time for Kingfish, he’s going back to his people, Ben Jordan gets the next shot and if he doesn’t beat him, stand in line! Lawler is pretty angry at this point and tells Jordan to join him. ‘The King’ runs him down, says that he’s not fit to lace his boots and he tries to talk him into wrestling him today with the winner getting the title shot. Jordan says how he’s already got it so doesn’t need to. Lawler calls a fan from the crowd (the same chap who is always there in a Jerry ‘The King’ Lawler top) and when he asks him what Ben Jordan would be if he doesn’t wrestle him today, he says a jabroni and a yellow coward. He tells Jordan that is what the fans will see him as, so to save face, get in that ring a wrestle him! He continues to push Jordan’s buttons until he finally cracks and tells Lawler to get in that ring with him. Lawler is pretty pleased with himself and makes sure Eddie Marlin and everyone heard that, and whomever wins this match gets the title shot at Jimmy Valiant. Jordan starts out quickly with an early pin attempt, before ‘The King’ reaches into his trunks for a foreign object. He nails Jordan with it, busting him open in the process. It’s all Lawler from here and even pulls out a dropkick! A fist drop off the middle turnbuckle from ‘The King’, who then drops an elbow for the win. He tries to goad Valiant into the ring after the match, even piledriving Jordan, but he is held back by the official. The first part of this was masterful from Lawler with the way he weaselled and wormed his way into getting Ben Jordan to put up his title shot. It was stupid of Jordan to give it up just for being called ‘yellow’ though! In regards to the match, why wasn’t anything done about Lawler using the foreign object? Where is Eddie Marlin? Dave Brown has seen ‘The King’ use it and is openly mentioning it on commentary. After the big deal about the new rules why isn’t someone doing anything about this? Onto Eddie Marlin again, and there appears to be a snafu as Lawler is piledriving Jordan after the match. Who can be seen watching on from the background? Eddie Marlin. Why isn’t he out quicker? Why is he just watching a wrestler use an illegal move on an already beaten opponent after the match? Why isn’t Lawler being fined or threatened with a suspension? More holes than Swiss cheese in this match!- 10 replies

Dave Brown finishes off running down some spots shows when he is joined by Jimmy Valiant who is carrying the title and now also wearing a crown. He tells the people in Jonesboro to get the party started as he’ll be there tonight, while in Kennet on Friday he’s going to stop by the big gym and eat some of that good country chicken! He sings a song I can’t make out before leaving. It’s fair to say that ‘Handsome’ Jimmy is happy!

Ben Jordan is out for an interview as he has a shot at the Unified title today against Jerry Lawler. Jordan says he’s really excited about the match as young wrestlers like himself don’t usually get an opportunity like this so soon into their wrestling career. It’s always been a dream of his to be World Champion even though Jerry Lawler probably thinks he’s a nobody and is sat in the back not taking it seriously. Lawler joins them and he was watching all this on a monitor and it amazed him that Dave Brown called Ben Jordan out for an interview with a straight face. He thinks it’s all a joke and Jordan says that ‘The King’ may be taking this lightly, but he’s trained his whole life for this. Lawler says he went to Eddie Marlin and said how seemingly every time he turns around he’s having to defend the title and Marlin said it was because the people want to see championship matches. He says he doesn’t care what the people want, he’s going in there against the top contenders all over the world and he needs a little breather every now and then. If they want title matches he’ll defend it against some jabronis every now and then, otherwise he’ll only defend the title once every 30 days like he has to. Ben Jordan is out here taking it all seriously and it’s like a day off for him. It’s a jabroni match! Jordan comes out every Saturday on TV and loses, he’s a jabroni! He doesn’t have a future in wrestling and may as well go and get a job in McDonalds. He’s got a match upcoming against another jabroni, the New York Mauler coming up. He’s a bit smarter than Jordan though as he wears a mask and doesn’t use his real name, that way he doesn’t suffer the same humiliation that Jordan does every week. He tells him to watch what he’s going to do to this jabroni, and to show how ‘special’ his title match, he’s giving this jabroni one too. Crowd are totally behind Lawler throughout this, and despite his best efforts, they’re not booing him at all. The New York Mauler comes out to some familiar music and it’s Jimmy Valiant, horrible tattoos and all, under a mask. Lucky Dave Brown even gets a kiss from him! Lawler tries to leave as that’s not the jabroni he agreed to wrestle, it’s Jimmy Valiant and they’re not going to trick him out of his title. After bragging about this match he’s now doing his best to get out of it. Eddie Marlin comes out and says that the match is signed and he tells Jerry Calhoun to ring the bell. Dave says that under the new rules is you lose by count out, you lose the match and in Lawler’s case as champion, he would lose the title too. An angry Lawler realises there is nothing he can do, takes off his jacket and throws it at Marlin and gets in the ring at the count of eight. The match has a ten minute time limit, but with five minutes gone it feels like nothing has actually happened. The match ends up going the full ten minutes all of which were controlled from start to finish by Valiant. Not much to the match which was heavy on stalling from ‘The King and none of the stooging or comedy that made the Dallas match so enjoyable. Lawler thinks that he’s retained his title and goes to collect it when Dave tells him about the new rules. He doesn’t care about the new rules, ‘you can stick them up your…’ Calhoun lays down the law and Marlin is back out and tells him to abide by the rules and first person off their feet loses. He’s got a count of ten to get back in the ring or it’s a technical loss. The overtime is better than the match itself, and as a result the crowd are more into it. The two of them exchange punches with neither able to drop their opponent with the ropes helping to keep them up. Lawler has an interesting tactic of kicking at Valiant’s leg, but for some reason he doesn’t persist with it for long. Lawler whips Valiant into the ropes and goes for a backdrop but Valiant kicks him and he stumbles backwards, only kept up again by the ropes. Valiant then whips ‘The King’ into the ropes and goes for the backdrop himself. However when Lawler goes to kick him he steps out the way, Lawler kicks fresh air and the momentum takes him off his feet crashing to the canvas and Jimmy Valiant is the new USWA champion. He celebrates with the fans after the match and seems to be the one person more popular than ‘The King’. He gets them to come over to the announcing desk with him and says that it’s ‘the people’s belt’. Whilst this is going on the tiniest, most petite looking security guard ever tries to usher these kids back to their seats, but Valiant ends up kissing her too!

Woman tells St. Paul to look out because the ‘Nature Boy’ is coming your way! Flair says that this is the triumphant return of the ‘Nature Boy’ himself, of the World champion to the Twin Cities. He’s not Wayne Wilson, he’s not Kent Hrbek, but when he tells you he’s the greatest wrestler alive today you rush out and buy a ticket, because everyone in Minnesota should thank their God they believe in, that Ric Flair is coming home. He’s facing Brian Pillman, an up and coming young star with a big reputation, a former professional football player. Big deal, this is professional wrestling! Years ago Verne Gagne made him pay his dues to get in this sport and if you asked him today what he’s all about, he’ll say he doesn’t like Ric Flair, but he’s all man and he’s the World Champion. In St. Paul he’s going to take the Twin Cities one notch beyond! ‘Two wrestling powers, two World Champions, Twin Wars ’90 is coming to the Twin Cities!’ For the first time in Twin Cities history, both the AWA and NWA World Heavyweight championships will be defended on the same card. He seemed excited to be returning home, but the Flair promo really didn’t do much for me. It felt as though it was the kind of thing that he could cut in his sleep. Nice to see Woman a bit more animated and contribute more than she has been doing recently. Cool little advert to promote the event and it made it feel like a big deal, even though with the AWA on its last legs, it really isn’t.

Love’s guest this week is a man who nobody loves any more, not even Brother Love, its Hulk Hogan! Huge ovation for the Hulkster with Vince McMahon claiming it’s like when Hogan won the title in Madison Square Garden. He runs through some poses and the crowd go wild and after Love’s claims that no-one loves him, what does he think about that? Love doesn’t know what to think of that, but he does know what to think about the Earthquake because it was he who was responsible for him losing the WWF title. He says that the Earthquake has already delivered a tremor to his chest, but when he gets in the ring with him and delivers a ‘ten’ from the top of the Richter Scale, Hulkamania will be dead! Hogan is snarling, huffing and puffing and claims that Hulkamania will never die. Sure he’s felt the tremors, but when he and the Earthquake get it on in the ring and he delivers the ‘ten’, they will get a chance to prove once again that the strongest force in the universe is not a tidal wave, it’s not a hurricane and it’s definitely not an Earthquake, its Hulkamania! I was waiting for Earthquake to attack Hogan from behind and give him the splash on set but it wasn’t to be. I’ll be expecting it next time around though!

Rick Rude is still in the gym but is now working out on the bench press. He says that when he meets the Ultimate Warrior again he will be an unstoppable force, an immovable object and if the Warrior should be lucky enough to get him in a pinning position, he too will be hoisted off just as easy as the 405lbs on this bench press. He can read the Warrior like a book and once more he will take the title that he holds so dearly. Good promo and I liked this as an effective way over showing Rude’s power and strength. If he can press 405lbs than pressing out of a pin from the Warrior should be a breeze!

From the pages of the WWF Magazine, it’s update! It recaps Bad News’ appearance on Wrestling Challenge from last week where he is being interviewed by Mean Gene. Gene has it on good authority that it is his birthday, although Bad News is a bit perturbed about how he found this out. Okerlund has a present for him and after initially claiming he doesn’t want it, Bad News snatches it from him. He opens the present and immediately jumps back, seemingly scared of something. Okerlund checks what was in there and pulls a rubber snake out and fins it amusing that he was scared of this. Bad News starts threatening Gene trying to find out who gave him the present and says that when he does find out, they’re going to be sorry. Back in the control room and Gene says that before his lawyers deal with Mr Brown, he feels Jake ‘The Snake’ Roberts will have a few things to say to Bad News Brown. Roberts says that birthdays are happy occasions and all he was trying to do was put a smile on his face. He wishes him a ‘Happy Birthday’ and hopes that he enjoyed his present!

Recap of a Texas title tournament match between Matt Borne and Kevin Von Erich with the winner advancing to face Kerry (yeah, like Kevin is winning this!). Borne is wrestling barefoot but the match is nothing special and he gets the pin whilst sat on Kevin and holding the ropes for leverage. Interview with Marc Lowrance and Borne is pumped! Lowrance says how Borne has advanced to face Kerry by hook or by crook, but Borne claims it’s just technicalities. To heck with technicalities, he advanced! He walked through Billy Joe Travis and he then walked through Kevin Von Erich. Sure he’s a friend, but this isn’t a sport any more it’s a quest. It just goes to show that if you put your mind to something you can achieve anything. He’s got Kerry Von Erich next and he’s never faced him before, but next Friday he’s going to have plastic surgery to remove the smile from his face as that Texas title is his. They can wrestle, they can fight, but he’ll walk away as champion no matter what it takes. Kerry joins them and he’s not happy that Borne cheated him to beat his brother. He says that he never cheated, it was just technicalities! Kerry says how Borne stuck with him through David, through Mike, that he’s one of his closest friends and now he’s saying he’s going to fight him? Borne says that friendship has got nothing to do with it, he just wants that Texas title. Kerry says that he won’t fight him for the title, he will wrestle him. He says how Matt has changed since he’s been watching matches of ‘Tough’ Tony Borne and when he calls Tony a cheater, Matt challenges him to get in the ring right now. Lowrance tries to calm Kerry down and tells him to wait until Friday and Kerry reiterates that he won’t fight him, because if he did, it would end their friendship. Excellent promo by Borne and this was pretty much a heel interview, even though the official ‘turn’ has yet to take place. You can definitely see traces of Doink in the Borne character and you have to wonder what WCW were playing at when they cast him as the face Big Josh.

Chris Adams has come out to speak with Marc Lowrance and has John Brozell from the front office with him. Adams tells everyone that the woman with Steve Williams was his ex-wife, Jeannie. He’s not a happy camper right now and doesn’t know what Austin is doing, but there isn’t room in Texas for the two of them! He came through his wrestling school, he was his number one student, and he even wears his wrestling boots to the ring! That’s okay and he even began to accept the way the way he is, but this time he’s gone too far and he aims to do something about it. He asks Brozell to let him wrestle Austin next week and he doesn’t care what happens in the match as he guarantees that he will be carried out of there in a stretcher. Brozell says that Austin is scheduled to take on Eric Embry next week, the contracts are signed and there is nothing he can do about it. Gossett tries his best to stir the situation and Lowrance tells him on more than one occasion to take a seat as this doesn’t concern him. Adams wants Embry to come out and he’ll ask him himself if he can take his place in the match. Eric Embry and Percy Pringle join them and Adams asks him to please give him his match with Steve Austin next Friday? Embry says that the last time he asked him for something like this it was the start of their problems, but the only reason they have problems is because he is like him and has enough guts to stand up for what he believes in. Embry asks Brozell if he does give Adams the match, could he do something for him in return? Give him a match with the World Champion, Jerry Lawler. Gossett grabs the mic at this point and says Lawler wrestles guys and men in that ring, Eric Embry is out of shape! It looks like he’s never seen a gym in his life and there is nothing he hates more than big, fat slobs (check Percy’s face here!). Gossett says that he is Jerry Lawler’s manager, Eric Embry doesn’t get a match and if he was a wrestler he could beat Embry’s brains out himself! Embry challenges him to get in the ring with Lowrance saying that all five of them will help him get in there, but he says he is a manager with a heart condition and he is unable to wrestle! Terrance Garvin joins them at this point and starts sticking up for Gossett. Terrance wonders if Embry has looked at himself in the mirror recently? He’s nothing but a fat slob who’s got more chins than a Chinese phone book, and next to him Ronnie Gossett looks like Elle MacPherson! He doesn’t know a wristlock from a wristwatch (how many times has someone said this line on the Yearbook so far!) and he couldn’t beat him in the ring let alone Jerry Lawler! Embry claims that Garvin is a joke and he could beat him with one armed tied behind his back. Garvin immediately grabs the mic and says ‘did you hear that?’ He tells Embry that if he’s a man of his word, tie one arm behind his back and wrestle him Friday night. Put fatso in the ring against him! Gossett gets involved telling Brozell to sign the match, but he’s not sure if he can even write! Brozell confirms that he can write and they’ve got the matches, Chris Adam vs Steve Austin and Eric Embry vs Terrance Garvin. Embry then tells Adams that he’ll be watching in the wings and come Friday he doesn’t have to worry about anyone interfering, just concentrate on Steve Austin. There’s a lot going on here but Gossett, Garvin and Embry were all excellent (even if the latter does come appear to be a bit pissed). I agree with the points that this probably should have been split into a couple of segments; first with Adams explaining who Jeannie was and that he wants to speak with Embry, then later in the show him asking Embry to let him have the match. Probably went a couple of minutes longer than it needed to as well.

They’re lighter and thinner than glass or plastic, but they’re tougher than ‘Gorgeous’ Gary Young! Young breaks the glass lenses, breaks the plastic ones, but despite his best efforts he can’t break the feather weight ones.- 11 replies

[1990-04-21-USWA-Championship Sports] Music Video: Jerry Lawler
GSR replied to Loss's topic in April 1990
Music video set to ‘Dirty Deeds Done Cheap’ and by Joan Jett according to previous posts. A rare instance where a Memphis video is full of fairly up to date clips! Lots of clips of Lawler breaking the rules, taking short cuts in matches or just plain enjoying himself in the ring. Some great clips of him against Dutch Mantel and footage of a studio match where he’s got his opponent in a head scissors and then starts doing push ups before flexing his biceps.- 10 replies
