    AEW Dark Megathread

Statlander’s promo was the real comedy with the implication that she was just riding up and down in the cargo lift until the cameras were rolling for her to speak.
  2. PCO as World Champ is the most interesting thing they've done in years.
  3. FWIW, I also co-sign that period of TNA as being really good, though it still carries some of the TNA stink in some places but it's never enough to ruin the shows. The Styles/Bully Ray LMS is a total miracle match. The kind of match you can point to for when Styles became the best in the world.
  4. Dynamite: 778,000 NXT: 778,000 I haven't read anything wrong there, both shows literally tied this week.
  5. They're so close to getting the balance right, they really are. I really dug the first 45 minutes with the Jericho/Moxley promo bleeding into the Cody tag and then the MJF promo. It felt like they got over 3/4 things at once with interweaving threads and intrigue for next week. And then everything kind of ground to a halt. Sabian and Ford joining the Janela/Spears feud makes some degree of sense and God know it needs something to heat it up.
  6. Man, do I have some bad news about the man she works for
  7. MJF has cut a promo, advancing the story, including revealing that he paid The Butcher and The Blade to attack Cody, and they only put it on social media. They REALLY need to put this shit on TV
  8. They should bring PCO in to put over Darby Allin in a battle of the lunatics
  9. The opening tag was absolutely great. Dustin coming to AEW and keeping step with everyone is a testament to just how good he is and he matched up brilliantly with Sammy Guevara. That's a singles I need to see more of. I'll admit to being the low vote on The Young Bucks prior to AEW but they really do work as a TV tag team where they can put together hot tags and get guys over.
  10. It definitely reeks of Heyman. If this was 1998, the program ends with Rusev piledriving Lana through a table.
  11. The tag with HHH against Benoit and Jericho is a great match if you’re including tags.
  12. The minute anyone becomes the top merch seller, they manage to plumb the depths of hell to come up with literally anything they can think of to sell. Remember when Bryan was hot and they sold a cap with a hairy bill? If you see anyone walking around with one of those in 2019, you have to tell the police so they can search their laptop.
  13. That's all great pro wrestling material, as far as I'm concerned. AEW could do with a hot midcard angle
  14. Janela going after the woman who dumped him when he needed her the most and her new asshole boyfriend is a million times more interesting than whatever Janela has been doing since he got to AEW, to be fully honest.
  15. The Jericho bits were fantastic but it was probably the first week that it really felt like he was carrying the show. Sky's little month or so push was really fun, however and the main event was a perfectly fine WCW Saturday Night Ric Flair title defence. What I will say is that there had to have been some timing issues with this show; the opening angle ended really flatly with the Roberts beatdown and SCU coming to the ring happening so quickly and with no impact and the MJF/DDP/Wardlow stuff just kind of took off and ended. Not giving MJF the after-match promo seems like a real mistake. The guy has plenty of heat already but I think he needs to speak every week to sustain it. Even the Dustin interview barely got started before they built the match for next week. It just seemed like they were rushing to get to the endings of the angles and everything sort of suffered because of it. Still though, the actual ring-work is becoming more diverse with each week with a better mix of short and long matches. It seems a long time ago that every match was stretched past breaking point and it's making the show far more easy to digest.
  16. I, for one, can’t wait for the MJF promo and beat down on DDP.
  17. A War Games ending on a TLC spot is so indicative of WWE. The eventual AEW War Games will end with MJF tapping out in a pool of his own blood and it'll be a million times better for it.
  18. Did they just show and acknowledge Britt Baker?!
  19. This is such a gigantic waste of Keith Lee. Not to mention Kevin Owens.
  20. Strong is channeling Elimination Chamber Rey but even that’s not enough to transcend this. WWE plunder is the worse
  21. Keith Lee should be in there throwing people from one ring to the next, smashing people into the cage and generally being a monster but the entire match is built around dives so he has to do that instead. Ridiculous.
  22. “Holy bleep!” Wait a minute, this is a War Games decided by pinfall?! You wouldn’t get this from Cody’s War Games.
  23. Yeah, man, we’re on the same page. If there were 3 more Roderick Strongs, Undisputed Era might be cool
  24. Adam Cole going straight for the plunder, confirming himself as the new Edge. If he had anything about him, he’d have casually strolled to the ring. He’s a heel. His heels were winning!
  25. He’s been fantastic here. You can tell he’s a student of War Games because whenever the face comes in, he’s the first one there to bump his ass off
