2/3 falls match. Brian Christopher is so good in the ring and as a promo. I wish he could have lasted longer on a big stage because he's too good to just be a regional guy in a national era. He's the standout in this match. Kind of a crazy finish to the first fall, with Rich hitting Christopher over the head with a 2 x 4 and breaking it. If it was gimmicked, it was gimmicked really well, because it didn't seem to be.

USWA was on a helluva run at this time and Too Sexy was at the peak of his career I thought. I always thought he would've been great in WCW working the cruiserweights but the King had more pull.

It’s great to see Lawler and Christopher side by side. I don’t think Christopher would have had much luck in WCW in 96. Scott Bowden looks confident taking on Downtown Bruno. Ha, Christopher nails Bowden with a superkick.

Really good studio match, with the old "to the expiration of time" stip that we haven't seen in seemingly forever. Rich & Gilbert win the first fall after a board is broken over Brian Christopher's head. He can't continue, so Bill Rush orders the second fall to be wrestled as a singles match. Lawler and Gilbert continue to put on some good action before this breaks down with run-ins from Rich, Bowden, Downtown Bruno, and a returning Brian Christopher. Christopher is pretty awesome in the post-match brawl, going nuts with a gas can, destroying Rich at the announcer's desk, and dropping Scott Bowden with a superkick.

Im lower on too sexy than most in this thread it seems as I find him fine most of the time but trying too hard and so refined.. This was another solid USWA match which is becoming their motif. Bowden is a good manager at creating chaos and being a nuisance at ringside for everyone. **1/2

Christopher does look good here, shows some charisma, gets over with the crowd and looks good in the match. The tag match is a lot of fun, mostly Christopher and Lawler taking it to the heels who sell great for them. Rich picks up the cheap win and the next fall is Gilbert vs. Lawler in a singles match, which is mostly a vehicle for the angle going on outside the ring. Christopher comes back out at the end and really takes it to Rich. Christopher's superkicks look pretty good.

  • GSR changed the title to [1996-02-10-USWA-TV] Jerry Lawler & Brian Christopher vs Doug Gilbert & Tommy Rich
