Loss Posted December 22, 2010 Author Report Posted December 22, 2010 It's Sabu and RVD doing very Sabu and RVD things. Significant because it was this feud that put Van Dam on the map and I'm pretty sure this was the first match in the series. But yeah, quite the spotfest. If you like these guys, you'll want to see this, if you haven't already. Quote
Tim Evans Posted February 11, 2011 Report Posted February 11, 2011 I've seen all the other RVD/Sabu matches except for this one. Good match and like Loss said, a total spotfest. The ending is probably the most important part. Quote
PeteF3 Posted January 25, 2015 Report Posted January 25, 2015 Well, this was the main event of the first ECW TV show I taped off SportsChannel Ohio, and 1996 Pete thought it was the coolest thing he'd ever seen in wrestling. Now, it's sloppy as all hell with a few cool spots and Van Dam being Van Dam, without having established himself as a star yet. I'll never be able to truly dislike this but yeah, it definitely hasn't aged well. It is impressive how much heat they were able to get just for RVD blowing off a handshake. Quote
soup23 Posted March 16, 2015 Report Posted March 16, 2015 No attachment for me so this was pretty shitty. I know Styles is just putting over the talent and promotion but him yammering on about this being an all timer feels like a get a grip moment in 2015. I know in the context, it was seen highly but I cant escape that vaccumm watching it now. Anyway, most of the coolness that Sabu had in the Mikey match is erased here as it felt like two guys having fun showing off spots to each other. ** Quote
tim Posted October 22, 2017 Report Posted October 22, 2017 Definitely more spot-oriented than the Sabu matches against Mikey and Scorpio. Van Dam does a couple cool things. I found this enjoyable enough for a spotfest. Quote
