El-P Posted December 17, 2011 Report Posted December 17, 2011 Back then I was a mark for the "former tag team wrestler pushed as a single", and I always loved the Samoans, so I was digging this shit. Of course it was not exactly a money gimmick, but I wish Fatu didn't had to do a stupid sumo gimmick (which was kinda insulting to me as a sumo fan) to get a huge push and get over. Anyway, I liked of "Make a difference" Fatu, and it was a refreshing change for a Samoan to have a urban gimmick without the savagery. Quote
Loss Posted December 24, 2011 Author Report Posted December 24, 2011 Fatu talks about the dangers of drugs. Quote

ajtroma Posted June 14, 2017 Report Posted June 14, 2017 Makin' a difference through jobbing, as the old RSPW saying went. Then the RSPW can go fuck themselves. I thought this was a very good gimmick. At the time, if you recall, was the second wave of Blaxploitation films, The Gangstaploitation movies. All those "Menace 2 Society" knock-offs. Gangsta rap was big and controversial. So what was wrong with a guy telling the kids and early teens that gangs are stupid and not to go down that path? I don't give a shit if I am the only one who liked this one. Quote
Dooley Posted June 14, 2017 Report Posted June 14, 2017 AJ, you may have been the only one. This gimmick had 80's written all over it. It might have gotten over if the feud they teased with the other Samoans who "wanted him to come back to the street" had gone forward, but alas no. As it stood, it was a fat guy in bright colours carrying Nancy Reagan's message a decade later and constantly losing. Quote
