Loss Posted June 1, 2012 Author Report Posted June 1, 2012 Why is Lawler wearing sunglasses? He's a terrific heel, but really a waste of him to be feuding with Duke Droese. Droese turning his back in the manner he did was really stupid. Gorilla Monsoon has now referred to just about every segment as pandemonium and it almost never is. Quote
PeteF3 Posted June 2, 2012 Report Posted June 2, 2012 God, I can't believe I remember this...but Lawler was selling that he supposedly got black eyes from Piper at King of the Ring. Quote
Kevin Ridge Posted June 2, 2012 Report Posted June 2, 2012 After feuding with Bret Hart for a good part of 1993, Lawler had some bad rivalries in 1994. He still manages to work a Helen Hart joke in there. Quote
Exposer Posted June 11, 2012 Report Posted June 11, 2012 This was absurd. I mean Jerry "The King" Lawler is beginning a feud with Duke "The Dumpster" Droese. Think about that. Quote
soup23 Posted June 17, 2012 Report Posted June 17, 2012 Yeah pretty bad to come from the KOTR main event to getting Duke as your next assignment. It didnt take long for Duke to fall out of favor with the crowd because he comes out to almost not reaction and only gets one when he insults Jerry. Decent beatdown at the end by lawler but I was not excited watching this. Quote
Zenjo Posted February 21, 2014 Report Posted February 21, 2014 Lawler had to feud with some terrible opponents in Memphis over the years. The Dumpster was possibly the worst he's ever had in the WWE. Who on earth thought that this gimmick would work? Quote
PeteF3 Posted April 28, 2014 Report Posted April 28, 2014 What a fucking waste. 1994 kiddie booking at its absolute worst. Well, maybe not worse than Doink & Dink. But definitely worse than Santino & Emma. Lawler, God bless him, still finds a way to work in some shots at Stu & Helen. Duke gets off some horribly lame responses before turning to leave, but not before stupidly stopping to acknowledge the crowd. Lawler decks him and destroys him with the garbage can. This being squarely in the family entertainment era, the camera quickly zooms backward and the segment seems to end early. Lawler was actually forced to issue an (in-character) apology for this. As much as we complain about the PG era, the WWE isn't as overly sensitive to violence as it was 20 years ago. Quote
