Loss
Of course, we have to mention the Jimmy Snuka spot for WWF ice cream bars. The Road Warriors are the guests, and they have an early theme that isn't quite the same as their standard theme. Just being on Brother Love alone confirms that they will not be used the way they should be, as they could have gotten over so much more not being a part of segments like this. Brother Love and Vince fake laughing ... sometimes the WWF can't help but be the WWF.
PeteF3
Well-said, Jimmy. Demolition and the LOD are in conflict as to who's impersonating whom. Fairly standard LOD promo. I'm okay with them appearing on Brother Love--no way was the WWF capable of being out of the box enough to do anything different--but there's definitely something wrong about the LOD talking about their "good friends" the Hart Foundation and Vince gushing about how they must be taking their Hulk Hogan vitamins. Unfortunately every babyface had to be a glad-handing one, which really doesn't suit Hawk or Animal at all.
soup23
First WWF LOD performance and already calling out the Demos. I agreed that having them do segments like these did them no favors.
shoe
The LOD throughout their careers they are ass kickers. Having to play nice was totally out of character.
Kevin Ridge
Snuka tries eating the package first of the ice cream bar. Brother Love was kept busy. Legion of Doom are in the WWF. They immediately call out Demolition. The call Demolition impostors. Brother Love looked like he was about to crap his pants at the end. garretta
To see someone of Jimmy Snuka's caliber treated like a subhuman, even at this stage of his career, is disgusting. I'm not saying he needed to be pushed, but Vince should have at least portrayed the man as a human being. He deserved that much. As for the LOD, this wasn't too far from their standard interview. Everyone who was anyone had to visit Brother Love eventually, so that wasn't a problem for me. Neither were the references to the Harts as their good friends, as it set up their interference in the title match at SummerSlam. The one thing I hated was Vince's quip about how they must have been taking their Hulk Hogan vitamins. It's like no babyface could exist, even in 1990, without the Hulkamania seal of approval. It's true that Dusty did the same thing in JCP, but at least you could count on him to interact with most of the other faces at some point, which made it seem a little more natural. I don't think Hogan and the LOD ever crossed paths in a major American match during their time together in the WWF, and they certainly weren't on close to the same track at this time, so why even mention Hogan or his vitamins here? There were other ways to get Hawk and Animal across as monsters. Still, not a bad introductory segment.
GSR
Jimmy Snuka is advertising the WWF Ice Cream bars. He takes the ice cream out of the wrapper and is originally going to eat the wrapper, before thinking better of I and taking a bite out of the ice cream instead. Brother Love’s guests this week walk in the shadows of the WWF tag team champions Demolition. They are impostors of sorts, who couldn’t even carry the dirty socks of Demolition, and they call themselves the Legion of Doom. Vince McMahon appears to be a fan, describing them as awesome and hoping that they’ll hit Brother Love with one of those spikes! Love welcomes ‘Brother Impostors’, but Animal isn’t standing for it and tells him that the Legion of Doom walks in the shadows of no man on earth. Back in Chicago, when they were little punks, they got their butts kicked by more than three on two, more than five on two, but they aren’t right in the head because they liked it! Demolition and the World Wrestling Federation have never seen the likes of the Animal and the Hawk before! Hawk calls Love a ‘cretinous little gerbil face twit’ and says that a man has got to do what a mas has got to do, and they must rid themselves and everybody else of those who have idolised them to the point of becoming ‘their’ impostors, Demolition. Everyone wants to be the WWF tag team champions and their good friends the Hart Foundation are knocking at the door of Demolition. If they look over their left shoulder they’ll see the Hart Foundation, but if they look over their right, they’ll see them. They snack on danger and they dine on Demolition! Brother Love is lost for words and Vince McMahon says it looks like Hawk and Animal have been taking their Hulk Hogan vitamins by the load! No problem with Legion of Doom being on the Brother Love show and I felt like they fitted in straight away with the WWF. Hogan goes on the Love show, Warrior does, so why shouldn’t the Legion of Doom? Agree with garretta’s comments about Vince McMahon talking about them taking their Hulk Hogan vitamins. Whilst it was probably something I wouldn’t have picked up at the time if I was watching it, present day me reads something completely different into those comments.
