Pretty bad match, but interesting to see what these two were up to in 1990.

Overlong match that goes to a time limit draw, because in the UWF every match may as well be Roddy Piper vs. Stan Hansen. Kind of sad that this was the setting of their most high-profile one-on-one bout.

I honestly didn't think Nikita wrestled until his WCW return in 91. Bad match but not a bad look into these guys and uWF as a whole with Herb commenting.

I thought Ivan was still better than Nikita, despite the 17-year age gap. That missed knee drop off the top was kind of a nutty bump for a middle-aged dude.

Confusing finish with the bell ringing while Nikita had the figure four on. Ends up being a draw. Ivan worked the back most of the match but didn’t really have a varied enough offense to keep me interested.

This bout was too methodical to be the grudge match that they were obviously looking for. Uncle Ivan did some nice work on Nikita's back, but I really didn't get a sense of hatred from him, despite Bruno's best efforts to give him one on commentary. Nikita started off fast and ended with the figure four, but did diddly squat in between. They tried to save this with Ivan's attack on the referee and a short postmatch brawl, but it was too late, at least for me.

 

The two matches from October are the only two matches we'll see from Abrams on this set, which shows you how lacking the promotion was as far as in-ring action. When the best thing to come out of a promotion was the halfhearted Piper's Pit imitation that was Captain Lou's Corner, it's obvious why the promotion failed. The only good thing about it was that we actually got to hear Bruno do some decent commentary for a change instead of searching in vain for something intelligent to say during Vince's replays.
