Loss
Danny Davis needs a partner since Brickhouse Brown was laid out by the chairshot. Ken Wayne is out and suggests they team up, despite their differences in the past. We've got a match! It's all a trick, as the first time Davis tries to tag in, Wayne will have none of it. He ends up punching him and then we have a three-on-one situation. It's a shame, because this match was looking good. Brickhouse Brown makes a quick save, but gets plastered with a chair again. Dirty White Girl tries to intervene, and some woman with Brown attacks her. She's billed as Sweet Georgia Brown. I'm sad, I was hoping for a one-time Nightmares reunion. PeteF3
This is twice now, the other being the initial Gilbert return, where they set up an obvious double-cross tag match and pay it off immediately when I think the could have milked the "will he or won't he?" factor for a little bit. And both matches looked promising on paper. Brickhouse doesn't really look like he was too hurt to wrestle on his post-match run-in, but makes the same mistake he made earlier in the show when he gets too busy ground-and-pounding on the DWB and leaves himself open to a chairshot from Doug Gilbert. His sister Sweet Georgia Brown catfights with Kimberly and somehow that runs the heels off. Ken Wayne gets in some licks on Davis at the announce desk. soup23
I didn't like this as much as the Gilbert turn because Danny looked like sort of a goof with how suspicious Ken Wayne had been acting. Must be honest and say Im not enthused that the DWG has a new feud either. They really always tried to pair her with someone.
Kevin Ridge
Brickhouse Brown attacks Tony Anthony but Doug Gilbert saves. Brown is left laying. Guy seems to have concussion issues. Brown can’t compete in tag match but Ken Wayne offers to fill in. Super quick tags by Davis and Wayne. Ken doesn’t seem like he wants to stay in there too long. He’s a bit busy fixing his boot and misses a tag from Davis. Ken proves to be a bad partner and turns on Davis. Brown tries to save. DWG and Sweet Georgia Brown roll around on the mat. garretta
It's impossible to rate this as a match, as first Wayne turns on Davis and then Brickhouse hits the ring to brawl with the champions, followed by Kim going at it with Brickhouse's "sister" Sweet Georgia. The best part of the whole thing is the prematch interview, where Wayne defends himself by saying that champions have to act crazy, then in the next breath blames his mood on an attempt to quit smoking. Anyone who would team with someone that weird deserves what he gets, and Davis sure got it. They could have just had the title match and valet brawl, plus an expiration of time match with the Nightmares where Wayne could have done his turn. Sometimes Memphis tried to cram too much into a short space of time, and stuff like this was the result. As Pete said, what was the rush to break up the Nightmares anyway? It's not like their feud was going to headline the house show circuit. I liked Dave berating Wayne as he left. "Some partner you turned out to be!" That's actually quite the expression of disappointment from our friendly neighborhood weatherman. You tell 'em. Dave!
goc
What a good angle. I'm still mad in 2015 because here I was thinking I was about to discover a Nightmares match in 1990.
