Martel was really getting to a point where he had his act down around this time. You can tell Vince coached him. Gene laughs that Martel didn't read the fine print in the contract, but they don't announce what's so special about the match just yet.

"A Flair for Fashion"--that article title couldn't possibly have been an accident, could it? Okerlund points out that Martel didn't SEE all of the contract that he signed. Martel concentrates only on fine dining, fine clothing, and fine ladies--not fine print. Gene doesn't reveal the big stip yet.

A Flair for...... fashion. That Ric doesn’t show up until summertime. Martel is laying the Model gimmick on thick. Rick will be part of WrestleMania. Gene laughs about not reading the fine print of the contract but we don’t get anymore details.

The puns were flying thick and fast with both Mean Gene and Martel here. I'm not too surprised that the blindfold match wasn't mentioned, though; big pieces of news were saved exclusively for Superstars by now. If they teased it on Challenge, it would almost certainly be announced on Superstars the following week.

The cheesiest part of Martel's getup was the huge "Yes, I Am A Model" button. This is a serious question: What was it about Martel that was supposed to lead us to believe that he wasn't? I know Vince was unsubtle about his gimmicks almost as a rule, but this was not only hitting us over the head with a sledgehammer, but following it up with a two-by-four.
