Loss
Talk about it here.
Loss
Another famous segment. Bret asks the Hart Foundation to leave the ring because he has something to take care of on his own. He asks Shawn Michaels to come out. He ends up ranting at Shawn for several minutes while Shawn stands there like an idiot until the show just goes off the air. Bret gets some good lines in and you can tell he's particularly seething here. Shawn ended the segment by superkicking Bret to shut him up as planned, but it happened after the show went off the air. After the show, Shawn found out what happened and was furious. He was convinced that Bret took liberties to embarrass him on purpose. In fairness to Shawn, Bret apparently talked far longer than planned and started talking about the pay difference between the two, but then again, Bret was only responding to Shawn's previous points in that extended shoot interview the previous month. Anyway, this led to a few interesting things happening in coming weeks that we'll get into soon. Watching this, I can sort of understand why Shawn was mad about this one, even though he sort of brought it on himself.
Kevin Ridge
Bret gets some things off his chest. Getting more and more personal between them. As a TV viewer it does look perplexing that Shawn just stood there and listened to this the whole time as show went off air. There should have been someone, TV producer or agent, out there to give them the hurry up and get to finish before show would go off air. soup23
Quite the bizarre ending segment to Raw. hart Foundation is led out and we get a verbal beatdown of Shawn with him essentially just hovering over a wheelchair Bret. I thought this was when he superkicked him and was shocked when the show just abruptly went off the air.
PeteF3
I remember being LIVID at all the Sunny Super Soaker commercials (which show up on the Yearbook later but started airing this night), actually blaming them for this mess of a segment, which already felt like it was starting at like 10:55. Bret gets some good lines in but is also kind of all over the map, and clearly stewing over Shawn's promo from a few weeks ago has thrown him off his game. So we go off in mid-rant in what's really one of the worst WWF production gaffes in its history.
Exposer
Bret dresses Shawn down which makes me happy. He does ramble a bit & is sometimes not entirely coherent but I'm glad he got to do this. Shawn spent ten minutes shitting all over Bret a few weeks earlier & Bret is man enough to call Shawn out & respond in kind to his face. Shawn looked legit mad for most of this. The people watching at the time missing the end live had to infuriate people. The last few minutes of the segment are on the Network & it's actually really great with Shawn superkicking Bret's lights out & having a heated brawl with the HF. Austin comes out & starts whooping ass & the HF retreat to the ring to protect Bret. Bret's promo is good, but it's a shame folks at the time didn't get to see the best part of the segment due to poor time management in production.
