sek69
Wasn't that during Giant's nWo push? That would at least explain it story-wise.
Guest Dorian
Also, wasn't Benoit supposed to be suffering from some sort of injury prior to this match as well?
Guest Dirty Hippy
Could be the match where (IIRC) he got caught up in his jacket coming thru the ropes while Woman was taking it off? Chokeslam then done?
Strummer
The match was done to get the Giant's heat back after doing a humiliating job to Hogan at Hog Wild (where he had to sell being Ko'D for 10-15 minutes after a simple belt shot) and to further the Woman/Benoit dissention storyline that was developing at the time (and went no where in the end)
Resident Evil
It's not a real job as Benoit gets caught by Woman taking off his jacket. Should be seen because this could very well be Big Show's best chokeslam ever.
goodhelmet
I had no idea what was going on at the time. I just saw Benoit was dropped in :23. Isn't this the exact time it took Benoit to beat Orlando Jordan at Summerslam?
Guest Mac
No, Summerslam was 25.5 seconds.
Loss
Buildup to the match was at least awesome, with Benoit defeating the freakish Ron Studd on Nitro (who's probably a legit 6'8" or better - and I may be underestimating him) with a superplex! Guest Alfdogg
If I'm not mistaken, Ron Studd = Ron Reese/The Yeti, who's actually even taller than Giant as seen on HH '95.
Loss
Yes, but Ron Reese and Ron Studd are not the same person. Ron Studd is another freakshow that was in WCW in 1996.
Loss
I stand corrected. It *is* the same person! My apologies.

Like I mentioned above it was furthering the dissention angle between Benoit and Woman. The idea was that Woman was loyal to Ric and Arn and didn't believe Benoit was a "real" Horseman at that point. Around this time they were doing promos on Saturday Night bickering back and forth about trust and loyalty and the like. The angle was completely forgotten about as the NWO became the focal point of shows. In fact when it started up again, Benoit and Nancy were all of a sudden in love and it was heavily applied that they were doing each other ( ie a drunken Benoit and Woman going up to their hotel room in Europe making threats at Kevin Sullivan)
