soup23
Time for the big Savage vs. Sting main event. However, NWO's music fires up and out comes Hogan wit the NWO lackeys carrying what looks to be Savage even though he has a Sting mask on. Hogan says the match is cancelled and that Macho needs to learn that you are NWO 4 Life. Hogan calls Sting a coward and out he runs to clear house. The reaction is sad that Sting gets for taking out the NWO compared to what it was two months ago. Hogan then comes back in and takes over on Sting. Good lord. Luger rushes in for the save and it was clearly time to end the NWO angle.
Zenjo
You could tell by the crowds reaction how tired they were of the same idea being repeated over and over again.
Loss
The announcers are wasting way too much time trying to figure out if it is in fact Randy Savage that the NWO carried out unconscious. The Sting-Savage match is scheduled but doesn't look like it's going to happen. Hogan does an interview claiming that the match will not happen and finally gets around to hyping his match with Sting, the one that has barely been hyped so they could build the Hogan-Savage issue. Sting comes out and clears the ring to a disappointing reaction before the numbers catch up. An injured Lex Luger comes out to make the save (we liked Luger years before this, but he is being pushed way too high on the card at this point). PeteF3
Are we seriously supposed to buy that Savage has been unconscious for TWO HOURS? By all accounts he should be dead, even by pro wrestling logic. Goofiness of Savage in a Sting mask and the weird commentary aside--clearly none of these three were clued in as to what to get over or what was going to happen in this segment--this is a pretty WCW-by-numbers finish as has seemingly been the case for the past 4 or 5 months of TV. WCW did a great job in '96 and '97 of building week-to-week suspense and creating mysteries, but who really gives a fuck if Lex Luger and Randy Savage are in cahoots? TravJ1979
Reminiscent of the announcers worrying if Sting was joining the NWO when people where were OBVIOUSLY NOT STING came down to ringside and started laying waist to the faces. Boring squared.
