Loss Posted October 20, 2014 Author Report Posted October 20, 2014 This is a pretty solid match given time. Mankind does a good job of making Rock look like a real threat and puts him over convincingly. Not a bunch of of crazy bumps, but more of a really physical match, which is cool. Rock regains the title. Austin is awesome on commentary at ringside, making every single point that needs to be made to set up Wrestlemania. I like how he takes the Flair route of giving both guys credit for being at this level, but that he's better. Quote
tim Posted December 7, 2014 Report Posted December 7, 2014 I liked this a lot, no kind of classic but the crowd is super hot and it's a nice action packed match with enough bells and whistles to keep things entertaining the whole way through. Austin was very good on commentary. The broadcast cutting off before Austin hits the stunner was weird. Quote
Tim Evans Posted January 2, 2015 Report Posted January 2, 2015 Not sure why they didn't do this on the PPV but I guess cause it was still the Monday Night Wars they did it on Raw? Good match with both guys taking crazy bumps. Loss is right about Austin. He was real good on commentary. Quote
soup23 Posted March 2, 2015 Report Posted March 2, 2015 I thought this was easily their second best match. Hot action mixed with some nasty bumps like the Rock Bottom through the table, Rocks step bump and the chokeslam from the top. Big Show gets involved setting up his match vs. Mankind although Austin has issues with him still which could have been a nice glimpse at a future feud if some patience should have been shown. Austin was great on color and Rock is receiving credit for him making their mania match feel bigger. Good stuff all around. ***1/2 Quote
PeteF3 Posted March 12, 2017 Report Posted March 12, 2017 This was a lot of fun--the ladder match stip almost seemed like an afterthought, as aside from a few token bumps off the ladder, this is much closer to their typical match. Nothing super-outstanding but far easier to watch than their Rumble match. And the heat is incredible--one of the loudest reactions of the entire show comes from Austin simply standing up after Paul Wight makes his presence felt. Mania is set, and we go off the air as Austin sneaks up behind the new champion... Quote
G. Badger Posted May 16, 2017 Report Posted May 16, 2017 This is simply a continuation of the St. Valentine's Day Massacre match. Brutal and intense as all hell. Austin as the toughest S.O.B in the world puts the contest and wrestlers over huge. This stuff is the real Attitude era..not the dick jokes, pillow fights and the cheap stuff. Its heated violent stuff with an ornery baddass Austin as the moderator. Quote
