Loss Posted October 26, 2014 Author Report Posted October 26, 2014 Now we have the famous and also horrible old vs young feud WCW tried to do in 1999 and they picked Bagwell to build around. Piper asked how many times Bagwell has fought at Madison Square Garden, and Bagwell says "I wasn't born yet", so I guess Bagwell wasn't alive in the 1980s. Pretty flat, although Piper tried for once.
tim Posted January 1, 2015 Report Posted January 1, 2015 This is a weird segment. Bagwell will be "given the ball" if Piper wins. Basicall this segment is outright saying "Hey guys, Buff Bagwell is about to be pushed." It's like a dirtsheet as a TV segment.
Tim Evans Posted March 26, 2015 Report Posted March 26, 2015 So was Buff a heel in this or not? This was confusing and leads to the awful Buff/Piper boxing match I think.
soup23 Posted March 26, 2015 Report Posted March 26, 2015 What the fuck was this mess. On any other show, this would be the worst thing happening. Here, it is just a confusing segment. Piper buries Bagwell and WCW by not ever wrestling in the mecca of pro wrestling despite being in the biz for 8 years. I don't really know what giving the ball to him implies at GAB. Also, they are running Piper vs. Flair again???? WHY?
PeteF3 Posted June 26, 2017 Report Posted June 26, 2017 Yeah, the idea of Piper vs. Flair AGAIN for control of the company AGAIN is just flabbergasting. Piper chastises Buff for not main eventing MSG, because there's nothing like outright telling your audience how much better and more prestigious the competition is. WCW is turning into TNA by the minute. I suppose I should be thankful that there's *some* attempt at using Piper to try to put over youngish talent--I wouldn't necessarily do it with Buff, but I'll chalk that up as a simple difference of opinion. No, the execution is where this really fails. On its own, this is a bad but not horrible segment that I suspect is going to lead to much worse things.
