Loss
Peggy Gilbert (Eddie and Doug's mom) shows up in the Memphis studio with a box. Dave Brown thinks it's Doug Gilbert and Dave is concerned he is in the box and reminds Peggy that there is a restraining order on Doug Gilbert and he's not allowed in the building. Peggy assures him it's just a gift. She also says that considering what her family has sacrificed for Memphis, Tennessee, Doug really deserves an opportunity to come back. Randy Hales comes out to try to explain things to Peggy, but she says she has known him since he was ten years old and he was the first Gilbert Fan Club President. There's a history and loyalty there and she doesn't understand why he can't be in Power Pro. Randy points out that he is a wrestling fan but he's also a businessman and Doug is a hothead. He again reminds her that Doug Gilbert cannot be in this box or he'll be arrested and he doesn't want that. Now JR Smooth and Glen Kulka are out because they are tired of all the drama. They want the ban lifted just because they are sick of hearing about this. He threatens to slap Peggy when Tommy Rich jumps out of the box and goes after the heels, who quickly bail. Rich has words for Randy Hales, saying this blackballing is one of the sorriest thing he has ever done. Rich says regardless of any restraining order, he and Doug Gilbert will be at the Jonesboro show tonight. Hales says that won't happen, so Rich says he's going to stop the TV show in its tracks. He throws a chair in the ring and has a seat where he refuses to leave. They cut to commercial and when they come back, Rich is still there and there's a "We Want Doug" chant. Downtown Bruno tries to talk some sense into Rich and he punches him in the face. Peggy suggests they leave before he gets arrested. Hales demands another commercial break. This didn't carry quite the punch of the previous two segments, but I like this a lot as an overall series.
Tim Evans
Is this Peggy's first appearance on Memphis TV? Not a bad segment since it further's the storyline. Some of the Randy says is funny given what happened a couple months later. That security guard took a sick chair shot at the end.
soup23
Peggy gave sincere reasoning and has the crowd supporting him. Hales for his part does have some good points and tries to point to the business side of things. Rich comes out all fired up and gets a good Wild Fire chant for his beatdown. Bruno takes a fun bump off a punch. Peggy finally convinces Rich to flee before they get arrested. I am still enjoying this series a lot. PeteF3
Rich looks in better shape than he did at almost any other time in the USWA. There's a restraining order on Doug Gilbert for the studio, but not for the New Daisy Theater and Rich promises that he and Gilbert will be there, even if Hales won't sanction a match. Rich tries to force Hales' hand by staging a sitdown strike and lays out Downtown Bruno as well as a security guard, but Peggy convinces him to leave eventually. These segments are better when Doug is involved just because he creates so much chaos just by being there, but this did a good job of advancing the story.
