Loss
Talk about it here.
Loss
Last few minutes. This was step two in Bischoff and Hogan trying to reset WCW in a last-ditch effort. Hogan is full-fledged babyface now, but is still dressed as Hollywood Hogan. Sid runs in to attack Hogan in plain sight of the referee, but this is a no DQ match. Sid is about to powerbomb Hogan when Sting shows up and fights him off. Savage is about to pin Hogan when Nash shows up and powerbombs Savage and gives Hogan the win. Second year in a row that Nash interferes in a Hogan-Savage match to give Savage a one-day reign and Hogan title win. Announcers being elated that Hogan won the title is ridiculously stupid. Nash interrupts the celebration to tell Hulk welcome back, but also that this is the second time he's handed him the belt. It's time for him to finally get a shot. Well there's a match that would have meant a lot a year earlier that means nothing now.
tim
So they're finally going to do the Nash/Hogan match for real. It still feels like a big match although a lot of the intrigue has worn off thanks to all the shit that's happened. The crowd doesn't seem as into as you'd hope they'd be. I think it could still be salvaged as a really big feeling match with the right booking but I'm sure that's not going to happen.
Tim Evans
Why even put the title on Savage? I guess Nash didn't want to job to Hogan on Nitro? Poor Savage. Hogan vs jorts wearing Nash wasn't going to save this sinking ship.
soup23
This crowd was hot all night until Nash came out and did his announcement. Hogan gets the fluke title win and we set up the main event for the next PPV. This really feels like WCW reset part 85.
Zenjo
Those who fail to learn from history... Would it be an exaggeration to say that Hogan could show up on a Monday afternoon, tell Bischoff that he wanted to become champion again, and would be wearing the gold at the end of the evening? Best. Contract. Ever. Savage lost 3 world titles to Flair and 3 to Hogan. He won a couple from Flair and none from Hogan. But he got his own back on the Hulkster by calling him a coward on his hardcore rap album.
PeteF3
Oh, so this is why I don't remember Savage as champion in '99. Nash interferes and Hogan wins the title, then Nash challenges him for the belt. Well, they had something hot going between these two in '98 and never did anything with it, so let's book the match after a whole 1 hour or so of build a year and a half later.
