Loss
Semi finals of the tournament from the evening. This match is insane. Lots of brawling and wild bumping into the crowd to get over the high stakes. I guess the incentive to win in a losers advance tournament is that you don't have to put your hair or mask at stake in a subsequent match if you win. This is short, but is in some ways comparable to Doom vs the Horsemen in terms of being shorter than usual great matches, but the perfect length considering the urgency, violence and emotion of the match. tim
Love the brawling in the first fall. An especially great moment is Olimpico reversing an irish whip on the outside for his comeback and sending (I think) Shocker flying into the crowd. Really liked the ending with the tecnicos taking it two falls in a row and turning the rudos' cheating against them. Very nice intense brawl. Tim Evans
Wild brawl that is unusual to see in CMLL. This kinda felt like a AAA match with the mask ripping, blood and going into the crowd. Rey Bucanero has WWF logo on his tights and I don't remember him ever going there. I guess maybe for Super Astros? Finish was good with the Fuerza Guerrera type low blow. soup23
First fall was awesome with intense brawling all around. Next two falls certainly couldn't match up to that level and sputtered out until the finish which I thought was very cleverly done. This is turning out to be a really fun show for CMLL. ***3/
Zenjo
I didn't realise how the Ruleta de la Muerte worked until I went and looked at the full results of the card. I'd assumed it was the same as relevos suicidas where they have a tag bout and the winning pair go on to have a mask/hair match. In fact this event featured an 8 team, one fall tournament and this was the final. Rather than winners advance it was losers advance. So the misfiring Rey Bucanero and Shocker team had now lost 3 straight. Watching this it felt like it was clipped without being so. The fact that both teams have had two previous matches explains why things seemed a little off. As can often be the case in one fall tournament lucha they tried to compress too much into a short time frame. Despite being messy it had its fun moments. PeteF3
This was a lot of fun with a terrific ending, something that harkens back to the elaborate endings of peak Antonio Pena. Actually all the finishes were great, from Bucanero aping Takaiwa's power bomb-lift spot to Panther slapping on a wakigatame out of nowhere when it looks like the tecnico cause is lost.
