Joel Gertner gets the mic to himself by having someone tell Joey Styles his car was being towed away. He ends up making lots of jokes about the recently deceased JFK Jr.

This was just wow. I remember he got a lot of heat for some of the jokes he made about JFK Jr. You can tell by the local station having a crawl saying Joel doesn't represent the views of the station. Joel is usually funny but this went on too long.

Gertner has come a long way from being the awkward ring announcer doing a 7 minute solo promo but this didn't really hit me in any way besides someone trying to make himself laugh and get some shock value reaction with the JFK Jr. stuff.

This was a transparent (rather pathetic) attempt at controversy. Does anyone know if this bit even made air on their Boston affiliate?

This is AWFUL. "Cockpit" jokes? Really? Shit that was eye-rolling when it was said in the movie Airport '79? Cribbing lines from George Kennedy isn't going to make you look very anti-establishment, guys. Joel can't even be bothered to memorize his hack jokes so he has to read them off a clipboard. Either Gertner is a horrible comedian with no timing, or he's *pretending* to be a horrible comedian with no timing to draw heat--problem is, the only heat it draws is put on ECW itself for making us watch this.
